What's the deal with bitcoin now?
save the frogs replied to Farang123's topic in Cryptocurrency News
Not sure. My limited understanding is: The current version of crypto has been some sort of intermediary phase. Digital currencies will be issued by govts and centralized, so eliminating fraud and speculation. -
universal health coverage by 2030?

https://www.wired.co.uk/article/free-public-transit The Case for Making Public Transit Free Everywhere From Spain to Germany and Luxembourg to Estonia, more and more countries are experimenting with fare-free transportation. -
what are you talking about? it's my OPINION based on what I've read. I suppose I can provide links to back up this claim, but it may just turn into an endless ping pong match. as i mentioned in a previous post, you can find some of the top medical researchers in the world engaging in debates on Youtube. if some of the world's top doctors and researchers can't agree on everything, do you think you will conclusively argue each and every one of your points on this forum? at some point, you need to take in information and just "go with your gut". because there is a lot of conflicting information in the nutritional world. and clearly, what i say has no clout as i am just a man with a frog avatar. so get your information directly from the source ie qualified professionals. I think I'm going to extricate myself from this conversation now.

universal health coverage by 2030?
save the frogs replied to save the frogs's topic in Health and Medicine
not shoes. but essential services may become increasingly cheap(er) and maybe even free. maybe public transit? childcare? money comes from tax reforms i guess. i ain't no economist. -
I believe that consistently feeding yourself food with high nutritional value and high in protein throughout your life is a big part of slowing loss of strength. By all means, do resistance training. But my point is that, realistically, you will not get most people to do it. Resistance training is HARD.

This is from World Economic Forum: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/12/do-cryptocurrencies-have-a-future-an-expert-explains/ -
I stumbled on the World Economic Forum web site ... I came across this article ... 2030 is still a long time away ... Also I am not exactly sure what it means. But one way I am interpreting this is that it COULD MEAN that expats in Thailand and anywhere in the world will no longer need medical insurance because of the phrasing "no matter the location and time". https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/12/universal-health-coverage-health-for-all/ Will universal health coverage deliver health for all by 2030? Henceforth, it is imperative to assert here that universal health coverage remains the only means of ensuring healthcare for all citizens of the world, no matter the location and time.

I hate doing actual cardio in a gym. And I think too much intense cardio isn't healthy. But I enjoy tennis. It doesn't feel like work. And I'm a huge fan of simple ol' walking. It doesn't feel laborious like being in a gym. Especially if you are in nice surroundings. It's low impact, its good for blood flow, it helps lower blood pressure, it helps keep the weight down, its outdoors so you're increasing oxygen to the brain.

I don't think we have much statistical data to support your claims. For sure, absolutely 1000% resistance training is important. But in terms of people falling in old age .... what diets were they on? What I see when I go to the supermarket is people filling their shopping carts with <deleted>. Most people are not making any effort whatsoever to eat a healthy diet.

Smoking weed maybe more dangerous than you think !

useful for glaucoma i buy. but isn't there other stuff out that that have anti inflammatory properties? useful for cancer may be an exagerrated claim. anyway, i don't feel like experimenting on myself. i'll wait for more conclusive scientific data. -

Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?

Due to climate change, the powers that be would like people to reduce their consumption. Many people don't believe in climate change and/or don't give a <deleted> about climate change. No one like to downgrade their life. Unless external forces come in and you're forced to ... such as inflation. But another external force that may force some people to downgrade their lives in the future is AI/Automation/Robots. Some people who make 80K per year may be replaced by AI and may struggle to find another job that pays 80K/year. -
I don't need to listen to what everyone says. I've experimented with my own body. Carbs don't keep you full. If you're high carb and low fat and low protein, you will be hungry every 2 hours. I skipped a meal a few weeks ago. A usual high protein high fat meal. And then I started binging the rest of the day. I find it hard to believe that you can eat like that and not binge every couple of hours and gain weight. It's the fat and the protein that keeps you satiated so that you don't need to eat every couple of hours. That's been my personal experience.

yeah, i will try to do some at some point. lifting weights is torture, though. my point was that i don't think hunter-gatherer tribes have access to gyms, yet they don't have chronic illness. cyclists have strong legs, no? takes strength to get the bike uphill ... the only problem is the dangerous traffic. and yeah, chasing thai girls is good sport. even if you end up being the prey, it's all good fun.

it may have to do with bureaucracy. they made claims in the 50s based on information they had. but when new information comes in, it's too bureucratic to change their policies. the guy at the top will look bad and lose face if he has to admit that the initial claims were wrong. he may even lose his job, so it's easier just to stick with the false claims. or sth like that.

Which are better, Phillipino or Thai Ladyboys ?
save the frogs replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
actually the title is a bit misleading. he is mostly comparing ladyboys to bar girls. -
I was very overweight and did go on a rather extreme (I suppose you could call it that) keto/IF diet. Not OMAD though. I had 2 meals a day. When I got my weight down to being quite slim, I decided to try to reintroduce some carbs because I came to the conclusion that Keto is a good intervention, but not ideal for a permanent diet. One reason I came to this conclusion is that folks on Keto have to supplement with electrolyte powders. I thought it might be more natural to get sufficient electrolytes from food than powders. I haven't gained back the weight. I've remained fairly slim. With no resistance training. If I start resistance training, I will post a link to my Instagram (just kidding. I don't have an Instagram). For the blood work, I'm concerned that doctors are trigger happy with the statins. I'm not convinced the levels of cholesterol they claim are high are actually dangerous. I prefer to avoid getting on the radar of the medical system. Since I lost a lot of weight and kept it off, I think I'm in much better health than several years ago. So that's my situation. Yeah regarding the American Heart Association ... I don't know how to break it you gently but you can't necessarily rely on those folks to give you the truth and nothing but the truth. Sorry that was a bit long-winded. Feel free to put me on ignore.

I've changed diets. I was on low carb. Now I eat a fair amount of carbs, a fair amount of fat, and also fairly high protein. I'm not low anything anymore. I love all macronutrients equally. I only pay attention to the good fats vs bad fats, good carbs vs bad carbs. One thing I noticed is that many experts and doctors on youtube do contradict and sometimes even debate each other. There is by no means a general consensus of what the best diet is. The other thing is I don't even check my blood work. So for those 2 reasons I will not push my ideas on anyone. I just take in information from different sources and then go with my gut. So if you want to do high carb low fat, who am I to twist your arm?
