  1. Thailand is neutral on both the Israel Hamas war and the Ukraine war. Both Russian and western leaders are made welcome, which is the very hallmark of neutrality. That said, we're not talking about foreign policy here: we're talking about culture. US and western funded NGOs and activist groups promote western cultural filth everywhere, including Thailand. The current Thai government is sucking up to such outside interference, by not standing up to Thailand's traditions, and not silencing those who peddle western cultural nonsense.

  9. One example comes o mind: He made it easier for married male expats to apply for citizenship, without having to get PR first. He didn't do anything to the detriment of expats either, which is the point I'm making.

  11. It's funny to see all the reflexive Prayuth haters going on and on, just like Pavlov's canine subjects, or bleating like sheep even. Thaksin's lot, AKA the bunch of con artists that is in charge for a while, has a long record of charging expats an arm and a leg for this and that .... think visa fees, PR fees, gold plated Elite visa fees, taxation on foreign income. I wonder what's next? Prayuth was actually benign on expat's wallets. It makes me smile that so few people here realise that. Buckle up farangs, unless you're cashed up.   12. And here's a hint for you my friend. Charging infrastructure, and the power generation/distribution expansion necessary to support EV uptake en masse, lags far behind EV sales. Hence the queues get worse as more and more people are conned into buying more of them. In countries where EVs are still very rare, there are already hours long waits and fights at charging stations. What makes you think Thailand, with its creaky power infrastructure, will be any different? Exceptions might include people with solar panels who drive a few km at night (aircon off) while their cars trickle charge all day. EVs are a con, plain and simple. A new industry that's making a few people extremely rich, coupled to a powerful marketing and public relations machine. Proof that fools and their money are easily parted. What is it with greenies refusal to acknowledge physical laws?

  15. Nothing I've read here makes me think you're wrong, that's for sure - all we see are people with furrowed brows counting every Watt-hour, just so that they can feel virtuous and superior. My 2.5-litre turbo might belch out a bit of CO2, but it only takes a few minutes to refuel and is so worry-free to drive anywhere.
  16. All I'm asking for is the total kWh par day your panels are generating, and delivering to your car's batteries, after your domestic consumption is deducted from their output.
  17. But if you look at the graph the poster provided, his '20kW' panels deliver a peak output of just 2.5 kW, which is why I asked him how many kWh per day they produce. You might want to revisit your calculations there.

  19. I so appreciate my trusty internal combustion engine. It takes 5 minutes to refuel (including time to have a leak and buy some snacks). I'm good for another 700 km and never have this fretful look on my face that EV drivers do, when their batteries are going flat in the middle of nowhere, because the last charging station wasn't working or had hours long queues. EVs are like 3D televisions: a once in a generation fad that doesn't work and is a pain in the backside to use.
  20. You skirted around answering my question, which was how many kWh do your solar panels produce per day, in the real rather than the theoretical world? Fundamental laws of physics and thermodynamics are routinely ignored by green zealots, so please be honest.
  21. 6 km per kWh is a small EV. All that your house electric bill shows is that your house uses less from the grid than your solar panels produce. You could sit there with just a fan on, and probably do given that your solar panels max out at 2.5kW in the midday sun. How many kWh do your solar panels produce per day, on average? Subtract your domestic usage, then multiply what's left by the 6km per kWh that your EV uses, and you'll see the sense in buying a bicycle.... or queuing for those fast chargers, which of course you're doing if you drive your EV any distance (assuming you get over the range anxiety). You could of course go out any buy a car with a proper engine, and statistically you probably will next time, but you obviously enjoy feeling all green and superior. And a huge yawn on the Scottish engineer remark.
  22. You intentionally missed the part about the laws of physics, universal facts that EV and other green zealots ignore. So how far do your puny solar panels power your EV for then? They max ot at 2.5 kW in the midday sun.
  23. So how far do you drive on the theoretical maximum power the sun illuminates each square metre of the earth's surface then? CLUES TO HELP YOU: Solar constant = 1,370 Watts per square metre. Translation for Bandersnatch: This is the maximum power (right across the entire electomagnetic spectrum) that the sun illuminates the surface of the earth with while the sun is directly overhead, so do the math to get the average theoretical maximum at your latitude for each day of the year. BUT - Solar panels are only 15-20% efficent. SO - you're only getting 15-20% of the solar contact per square metre of solar panels = a totally puny 274 Watts per square metre (even with the sun directly overhead, which only happens twice a year in Thailand) QUESTIONS FOR BUNDESNATCH: 1) How many square metres of solar panels do you have? You hit around 2.5kw, so they must be quite big and expensive ones. 2) What is the average power consumption of your EV per km? 3) How far do you drive your EV per day, without having to resort to charging off the grid? I'll accept responses in tenths of km here Be honest, please, because the laws of physics will catch you out.
