Also caution… If you change your address to Thailand with Social Security this may trigger a notification of address to any Medicare insurance/advantage provider… Also you will be subject to an annual Social Security notification that you are alive and living abroad… https://www.kiplinger.com/retirement/social-security/social-security-payments-suspended-for-americans-abroad

As the poster said above... I went online to the SSA website and changed my address to my Thai address... Completed Form SSA-1099, listing my Bangkok Bank account I've had for years (No special or restricted acvount needed) ... Had my BKK Bank branch sign and stamp the form... Mailed it to Manila via Thai Post... And now my monthly deposit appears on the 3rd of every month no problem...

Musk targets Social Security with blatant misinformation
BKKKevin replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
Under an international standard called ISO 8601, a missing value for a date is coded as May 20, 1875, because that was the date of an international standards-setting conference held in Paris, known as the "Convention du Mètre." For that reason, under some coding systems, a missing value for a date will default to 1875 — which in the year 2025 produces a round figure of 150. https://youtu.be/E4MH2Dkf14k?si=5fm1H5uvFw5vvHrO You would think these "cyber geniuses" would know this... -

If you read the entire linked article you will find the examples of misinformation… One being that Musk said that he has found 150 year olds collecting Social Security… Red meat for his easily fooled ilk…- 389 replies

Can one get a single reentry permit at the same time as the one year extension?... Will that reentry permit be valid for use at anytime of the one year extension? -

I travel in and out of the country at least 3 times a year… When in country we do weekend getaways once or twice a month… So my TM30 is constantly being changed… I have given up on online 90 day reporting… Luckily here in Chiang Mai they have a nice drive thru at immigration that takes a minute or two if there is no line they do not question/compare the address on the 90 day report to anything the computer says… I don’t bother trying to keep the TM30 updated thru out the year… Once a year I ask our Jurassic person at the condo to issue a new TM30 a few days before I hand over my passport to me agent who handles my annual extension….

Trump 2.0 -- Exponentially more damaging than Trump 1.0

Ask the Canadians, Mexicans, Panamanians & the Danes... One can only image what the world thinks of us "relocating" the Palestinians to make way for the Gaza Trump Tower... 🤣 -
WISE just shut me down!
BKKKevin replied to PumpkinEater's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Did changing your country of residence and updating your address to your Thai address go thru? Did they request you to reidentify yourself? Also did you initially just have a basic transfer account or did you also have a USD interest account attached to your Wise account?… The USD account requires them to adhere to stricter rules and send out 1099INT… Last year I personally experienced the exact notice you got shortly after I added cash to my cash account (~$1,000)… And assumed it was the reason for the new address request… I gave a family member address but like you agree this is not a good long term solution… I much prefer giving them my Thai address and being up front with them… Just as an aside I also have a Remitly account and have it as backup to Wise I try to use them interchangeably so as to keep an active alternative;-) -

Or the paper tiger was told consequences... A pause is not a solution... Either way he will claim victory and in a month will say the problem solved (Think of NAFTA 2)....And his gullible followers will cheer the great and powerful man behind the curtain...

The penalty is 10% per year… So for example you return in 5 years the penalty would be 50% increase over the Part B cost at that time… And you can’t reinstate the Part B at anytime… You must wait and do it during the fall open enrollment period.

Is this new in 90 days report?
BKKKevin replied to Joseph98765's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I’ve had the exact same problem as the OP… Rejected because a TM30 was filed by a hotel I spent a weekend in Ayutthaya… We travel a lot… basically weekend getaways at least once a month… I’ve given up on the online system… Luckily here in Chiang Mail there is a drive thru 90 day reporting lane at the Main immigration office near the airport they accept it without question… Takes a minute or two waiting if there is someone ahead of me… Then right before I hand over my paperwork to Assist Thai Visa to do my annual extension I have my condo file a TM30 to reset it back to my home address… -
