  1. I think any of them will take you 1500-1800 baht off you and smile, possibly add a doctors fee on top, especially if you want the questionable first generation one.. However if you are from the UK - total guess based on Cheers - and still have a NHS number, why not try to arrange a call with clinic that last hosted your GP, and see if its really necessary..
  2. I thought you were still picking at - looks like a prison expression Must be a very hot day for some, the defenders of Thainess
  3. It's there to protect the surface during from factory to installation, it has no other intended use case. If the owner is Thai they'll probably never know.. Ah this forum
  4. They are insane at times.. Someone tell her the blue film peels off to reveal a nice metallic surface
  5. She should of at least doled out 10% maybe more as a reward, instead of a hundred baht each. I remember finding a wallet as a kid in the street, it had like 50 quid in it, a lot in them days, my dad walked me round the estate to where he thought the guy lived based on some ID at the time, it was the guy's, he gave m 30p as a reward. Nothing was said about it, but I think looking back the guy deserved a slap for the insult and I think that what my dad was thinking..
  6. When I picked up my car, the professional seeming sales and finance people handover me over to Somchai Yaba to demonstrate the car features, wasn't thinking fast enough to decline, he drove like a bat out of hell, rapid acceleration, swerving all over the road to demonstrate ABS or some feature like that, and breaking like he was doing an emergency stop in a driving test. I didnt worry about breaking it in after that... if it has delivery miles on the clock it's probably been broken in Thai style ????
  7. Even Ikea have gone Thai sugar mad. I had some new brocolli mash the other day and before I could say anything they laced it with honey syrup wtf.. they did politely replace it on request and gave me a strange look are you sure you dont want to have your lunch dripping with honey?
  8. About time. You can probably safely delete those vaccination certification apps, NHS app, or bin the CDC card if you have one, I don't think there is anywhere significant left in the world where you need to demonstrate vaccination compliance, Japan falls in line on the 8th May a few days before.
  9. What depth would you expect a water supply pipe to be at, at a typical new suburban all-the-same townhouse in a moo baan? The water supply pipe from meter just outside my drive to the water tank plumbing at the back of the townhouse..
  10. Contempt for public transport users. There was some big investment years ago, but they screwed it up as everything in Thailand, and 489 new buses were in dispute for some time, you can read up on this and guess why and how this situation happened... Anyone know if they all got released in the end? It's much easier to extract money from large billion dollar infra contracts - new railways, airports, airport extensions, highways, land surrounding dual track projects etc..
  11. Latest bangkok agent price to open a BB account is 10k for what it's worth, this was quoted april, agent also suggested to friend try yourself first - it seems like they're not making a killing on it if they are saying that. Just adding for reference so you know what to expect price wise with agents closer to your home.
  12. Strange on the ID for two people, female Thais almost always carry their ID in my experience.
  13. Thanks guys, fine by me if painting is actually the eventual right choice. Doesn't look like the first contractor is coming back today so I presume he's done his bit and fixed the leak but it is exposed so probably he's doing the wait and see thing, will find out more from the builders on Monday I suspect and watch for warping and bulging. Welcome to Fawlty Towers will be my house sign.. And for the cherry, perfect weather for drying in Bangkok Sunday morning ????
  14. Got the builders back in today, or one of their contractors to be precise, to sort a water leak, warranty, I think it's been happening for at least four days possibly since the water pump was connected 2 weeks ago, wifey has been complaining that it smells like a sewer for three days, and giving me grief that I'm wearing shoes in the house due to constant mess on toilet floor - first it was just wet and dirty so easily weird, now its all white from where the grout has powdered out - well vindication it seems not my fault.. Anyway, whats the typical remediation for this, lone contractor guy left today and water pump seems back on, picture as it was 15minutes ago, concrete is still wet as it looks, and I suspect another 2sqms of wet concrete too given the grout coming out across the bathroom.. And the ceiling below? Basically, just looking for confirmation, that ceiling needs replacing and to stop them if they attempt to paint over it... Anything else to consider? Rotation seems wrong here, but that's the ceiling of the room below the toilet,
  15. Let her prove it's yours - DNA test, much simpler than trying to chase medical records half way around the world. I have heard the procedure isn't 100% though fwiw ps... usually you annotate these questions with "asking for a friend"
  16. What form is the wife's declaration? Can you download it to avoid endless trips downstairs?
  17. Its definitely happening, I'm seeing more positive signs of Thais de-masking in the last few days than at any time in the last 10 months, it will still be a slower trajectory to normality than what happened in Singapore and Hong Kong and other asian nations that embraced the fear at full pace throughout 2022 (lets define normality as 1% to 2% masked due to compromised immune system, although you'll always find someone that believes Thailand was maskland before covid ) , but I guessing we could down below 40% by June hopefully and below 10% by year end, if no more scare tactics are played. All fizzling out now, even our condo security guards and juristic office don't bother, could the next trip to immigration be mask free? that would be nice, although I still got one mask left..
  18. The builder. I think crossed wires here, I thought you were implying I should have an earth, noted on the wire colors they are wrong / not to code, along with the other bits, I don't have any electrical wire to sort myself yet as was just changing out a switch.
  19. What would you earth at a light switch like this? Each of the three switches is a self contained hard plastic unit with two inputs. Fascia and mounting plate are tough plastic. The only thing you could earth would be partial backing metal box as far as I know but if everything surrounding it is plastic I'm not sure this is even "code" to earth that in the US/EU/UK? I haven't looked at the other switches but yeah it's pretty crappy job, but too late, any colour wires it seems, the wires are joined with a twist and some insulation tape, no wire nuts or wagos, the screws used were wrong, sharp point instead of a blunt end, probably other not to code violations here. Curiously, years ago I did chat with a decent Thai spark as he was training half a dozen apprentices to wire up breaker boxes in some lab, and there definitely is a code (or something similar), is wire colour coding part of the Thai code? Is it comparable to the code in the west? Anyway I've scrapped this plan, even though the dimmer appears to works, and I've already purchased the dimmable led, it turns out it is the wrong one, and it's indeed intended for old or halogen bulbs, there's a humming noise that I didn't notice when initially patting myself on the back. Turns out a single bticino matix dimmer switch for LED starts around 3800baht with digital stepping rather than turn a knob. I'll use this switch elsewhere with an old style bulb
  20. 10-20baht tolerance on price before I re-query, got to stay sharp. Could be a coffee, chicken and rice, sugar cane drink, or a sub 500baht restaurant bill that I've calculated in my head etc.. I don't query on less than 20baht when into 100s because always forget small things like ice and they always have an excuse - give you special size, you fat falang. But if there is clearly a mistake or attempt to lift the price i do query and usually sorted On a taxi I pay meter plus a tip - tip can be anything from 10-80 baht. Avoid unmetered taxis, if fix fare is unavoidable no tips. Flat fare already has tolerances for traffic etc so that doesn't work on me. Scottish guy is right.. Kevin well, well up to him, but that's just silly, isn't gaining any respect doing that
  21. Thanks, HauptmannUK, I'm a little lost, to do your plan then I remove the grey piping to do this? Do you have a picture of the 90deg horizontal elbow thing, just so I'm sure what to buy here. There's very little space between the drain and water inlet that even putting it horizontal I'm things are tight. You also see there's probably only about 15cm height currently from top of flexible pipe to bottom of it where it connects I played with it all few minutes ago before coming back here, I got it kind of working on sink side, of course it's leaking like hell at the moment as no sealent/glue, and obviously I moved the cabinet - need a longer water pipe to put the cabinet back to original planned position
  22. Aircon units are pretty dumb, all this fancy jargon you see on the BTS is a bit silly - Ionic Organic Super Cooling with Ice chill factor X etc.. As a new build have you installed window film yet, curtains, blinds etc.. Our brand new units won't pass the 23-24c if the curtain free south facing windows have been blasted with heat for a number of hours
  23. Left side sink, right side dishwasher. Drain pipe height about 40cm. Here's my thoughts, turn the mains inlet splitter horizontal so the level of the drain pipe is unhindered to the right. Glue the blue plastic splitter to drain so it has a left and right, it fits very snugly. For the sink I just got the white pvc stretchy thing, and this has like a suction thing to connect, seems to fit well but will probably glue to too. I'll make a hole at the back of the cabinet for this and try to ensure it runs downwards although there only about 10cm tolerance from where it attaches to sink bits... I don't have a plan for how to connect the dishwasher pipe yet, I found something that fit snug to the dishwasher supplied pipe but I need a few intermediate blue bits I think. Or is there something else I can buy? I haven't connected everything up until I got all the parts, and slowly building a collection of useless blue parts as its took quite a bit of trial and error to even get this far, 555 Is this a sane plan? If there a possibility sink water will go into dishwasher and vice versa? What else should I watch out for?
  24. Just occured to me as typing, Could I do the two way thing on the light switch on the left instead, or just swap the locations around? so dimmer occupies first socket and follow same wiring
