  1. Some good information in this post, hopefully we will get some form of protection for all aid workers after this investigation is concluded. Mr Netanyahu said in a statement: "Unfortunately, over the last day, there was a tragic incident of an unintended strike of our forces on innocent people in the Gaza Strip." He said officials "will do everything for this not to happen again". US President Joe Biden said he was "outraged and heartbroken" by the deaths and said he had spoken to WCK founder Jose Andres. "Israel has not done enough to protect aid workers trying to deliver desperately needed help to civilians," he said. "Incidents like yesterday's simply should not happen. Israel has also not done enough to protect civilians." He said an Israeli investigation "must be swift, it must bring accountability and its findings must be made public".
  2. Good job Susan Hall has about as much chance of becoming Mayor of London as I do. From the current Mayor's spokesman, featured at the end of the piece: A spokesman for Mr Khan said: “Sadiq is spending record amounts on the Met, including an additional £151 million in this year’s budget for policing and crime prevention. Sadiq has now doubled the amount of funding he’s given to the police since becoming mayor. He has also funded the recruitment of 1.300 new police officers. “By contrast his Tory opponent, Susan Hall, has strongly backed the Conservative government’s cuts of more than £1 billion to the Met and youth services since 2010. She has furthermore suggested police misconduct against women should be dealt with behind closed doors and is solely down to a few ‘bad ‘uns’ and ‘wrong ‘uns’ in police ranks. “The mayor has no operational control over the police and any marches can only be banned by the Home Secretary – something the Tory candidate either knows full well, or should do.”
  3. Great, I'll try to not post facts confirming comments made by the UN General Secretary are not as reported by other posters which get called out as misinformation.
  4. Yes I get that you tried to insinuate that the statement was a lie by the Palestinian State and that was not what Guterras said. Now go to my post that called out your misinformation and you will see that is exactly what he said.
  5. Oh yes he did. Secretary-General's remarks to the Informal Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly - on Human Security [as delivered] https://www.un.org/sg/en/content/sg/statement/2024-04-02/secretary-generals-remarks-the-informal-plenary-meeting-of-the-general-assembly-human-security-delivered The devastating Israeli airstrikes that killed World Central Kitchen personnel yesterday bring the number of aid workers killed in this conflict to 196 – including more than 175 members of our own UN staff. This is unconscionable – but it is an inevitable result of the way the war is being conducted. It demonstrates yet again the urgent need for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages, and the expansion of humanitarian aid into Gaza – as the Security Council demanded in its resolution last week. The resolution must be implemented without delay.
  6. Three British nationals have been killed by an Israeli air strike as they were working to deliver food aid in Gaza. They were among seven workers with the charity World Central Kitchen who died after attacks on their vehicles - despite having coordinated with the Israeli military over their movements. The Foreign Secretary David Cameron has called on Israel to provide a 'full, transparent explanation of what happened'. Israel has promised an independent investigation of what Prime Minister Netanyahu called 'a tragic incident'. Warning: This report contains distressing images.
  7. Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara highlights the current situation, emphasizing whether the attack on the aid convoy was deliberate or part of a systematic and indiscriminate use of force in Gaza. He suggests examining the broader context to understand the motives behind such actions.
  8. UK: Jewish group blocks entrance to Foreign Office to demand end to Israeli arms sales Naamod also called on Britain to reverse its decision to defund UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa Naa’mod placed tents and banners alongside other Jewish groups calling for a ceasefire and demand an end to arms sales to Israel. https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/uk-jewish-group-blocks-entrance-foreign-office-demand-end-israeli-arms-sales
  9. World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza. The WCK team was traveling in a deconflicted zone in two armored cars branded with the WCK logo and a soft skin vehicle. Despite coordinating movements with the IDF, the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route. “I am heartbroken and appalled that we—World Central Kitchen and the world—lost beautiful lives today because of a targeted attack by the IDF. The love they had for feeding people, the determination they embodied to show that humanity rises above all, and the impact they made in countless lives will forever be remembered and cherished,” said Erin. https://wck.org/news/gaza-team-update

  11. I go to a little place on the main drag, the Mrs books it in I just wait and pay the Insurance/test fee, the good thing about it was I took some tools with me and adjusted the headlights, they had no clue until I showed them on the aiming machine. I had Saabs for 25 years prior to this Ford, now they were the best thing on 4 wheels.
  12. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I noticed last year when it went for test, its only a Banger, Ford Focus but it gets us around OK after a few tweaks by me, got it up to UK MOT standard.
  13. Coming up for renewal at the end of April, goes anyone know if it can be done prior to the date it runs out?
  14. Japan lifts pause in funding for UNRWA, The European Commission, Canada, Australia, Sweden and Finland have also lifted similar funding pauses in recent weeks. Japan was one of 16 countries that suspended funding to UNRWA amid Israeli allegations that 12 of the agency’s staff participated in Hamas’s attacks on southern Israel. Israeli authorities later claimed that more than 450 UNRWA employees are “military operatives in terror groups in Gaza”. The UN, which has launched an investigation into the claims, has said Israel has not provided it with evidence to support the allegations. UNRWA, founded in 1949, provides food, healthcare and education to some 5.9 million Palestinian refugees. https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2024/4/2/japan-lifts-pause-in-funding-for-unrwa-following-canada-australia
  15. Four people arrested after more than 200,000 people attend pro-Palestine London protest. The Met said officers arrested one man on the Strand in relation to inviting support for a proscribed organisation. Three further arrests were made at the march – one person was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence and two others were arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm and distress. https://www.itv.com/news/london/2024-03-30/man-arrested-on-suspicion-of-terror-offence-at-pro-palestinian-protest
  16. On 26 March 2024 during the 55th session of the Geneva-based Human Rights Council, Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, presented a report entitled "Anatomy of a Genocide". By analyzing the patterns of violence and Israel’s policies in its onslaught on Gaza, Ms. Albanese concludes that "there are reasonable grounds to believe that the threshold indicating Israel’s commission of genocide is met." Special Rapporteurs are appointed by the Human Rights Council and serve in their individual capacity, independent of the UN system and national governments. They are not UN staff and draw no salary.
  17. Tens of thousands of Israelis take part in anti-gov’t protests Protesters say Jerusalem rally is the biggest anti-government protest since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October. Tens of thousands of people have gathered outside the Israeli parliament building in Jerusalem in the largest anti-government protest since Israel launched its assault on Gaza. The protesters on Sunday demanded the government secure a ceasefire deal that would also free Israeli captives held by Hamas in Gaza and called for early elections. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/3/31/israelis-stage-largest-anti-government-protest-since-gaza-war-began?traffic_source=rss
  18. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday, October 7, told Israel that it is "at war" with Hamas militants that rule the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu's comments in a televised address mark his first since the Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers launched a major, multi-front attack on Israel at daybreak Saturday. He ordered a call-up of reservists and promised that Hamas would "pay a price that it hasn't known until now." "We are at war," Netanyahu said. "Not an 'operation,' not a 'round,' but at war." The prime minister also ordered the military to clear the infiltrated towns of Hamas militants that remained locked in gunfights with Israeli soldiers. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2023/10/07/netanyahu-says-israel-is-at-war-after-hamas-launches-unprecedented-attack-on-country_6154895_4.html#
  19. What on Earth has this reply got to do with the post you're replying to?
  20. You said the war was not declared until the next day, your post is above with your comment highlighted in bold, italics and underlined, lie number 1. Now show me a post where I have claimed that the 5 girls/ladies were POW's, I actually said "These 5 must be classed as P.O.W.'s, as they were in the I.D.F." As an aside the 5 IDF members were captured on the day war was declared by Netanyahu the 7th Oct 2023, to me the hour of capture is irrelevant, same day.
  21. Caught you telling fibs again, naughty naughty, I won't hold my breath for an apology. Note the date, so therefore why are the combatants captured on the 7th Oct 2023 not classed as POW's? https://www.timesofisrael.com/we-are-at-war-netanyahu-says-after-hamas-launches-devastating-surprise-attack/ https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/middle-east/netanyahu-tells-israel-we-are-at-war-after-hamas-launches-an-unprecedented-attack-on-the-country/articleshow/104237141.cms https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2023/10/07/netanyahu-says-israel-is-at-war-after-hamas-launches-unprecedented-attack-on-country_6154895_4.html#
  22. Certainly does, were the 5 girls/ladies members of the IDF?
