Oh dear, looks like the old kite mark has flown away again ????

The return of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is becoming enmeshed with the current power struggle at a political level going on between conservative and progressive forces after the General Election threw up a result which has put the Pheu Thai Party in the centre of the political spectrum with the capability of swinging political power in Thailand from one group to another. The fate of Mr Thaksin, who is the de facto leader of the party, has thus become linked to the political fate of the country and is at the confluence of a plot hatched by the conservatives to break up the eight-party coalition pact signed by the Move Forward Party, the Pheu Thai Party and six other smaller parties for a ‘Government of Hope’ on the 22nd May 2023, nine years to the day after the 2014 coup d’état. On Friday, the planned return of Mr Thaksin on August 10th to Thailand, announced by his daughter on July 26th, was thrown into doubt when Mr Chuwit Kamolvisit, the political activist who has a knack for detecting what is happening behind the scenes, revealed that Mr Thaksin has gotten cold feet fearing that he may be the victim of deception. This is to me, is what the powers that be are wanting to do, break up the coalition at all costs, because they have now realised all that they put in place to stay in power is in jeopardy with no Senators from next year. OK, they could stage another coup but that will be at the risk of killing the economy that they have been feeding off for the past however many years. Interesting times are ahead.

Pita does come across as a likable politician, with some sensible views to bring Thailand into the 21st century. The only problem he has is, the Junta are never going to allow the changes needed without a fight/skulduggery as shown up to press. It should all be done done through the ballot box not on the streets, but are the majority of Thai's going to back that or do they need another generation to come into the political arena.

The very reason that the Junta will have to be in power this time so they can reinstate the Senators so their hold on politics continues. Surely the coalition of MFP and Co know this.

Just my opinion, going from some of the news stories on here and from social media. If Senators are looking at bringing defamation action on anonymous posts that they don't like, especially where their family and friends are being targeted. Also some commercial bodies and trade organizations are starting to worry about any trouble which could reduce the economy, both domestic and from tourism.

Only on the weekend, behind closed doors ????

I'm beginning to wonder if the powers that be I.E. the controllers of the Senate are thinking perhaps the game is up and they might need to concede some authority back to the people elected to the Parliament, or face some not so much violent disorder but public backlash against the Senate members, as seen on social media.

Went there a couple of weeks ago, mainly for cheap fags and booze at the border fence at Rim Moei Market, stopped overnight in a Hop Inn was ok. The road into Mae Sot from Tak was fun in the rain but fine to me, used to driving through the Alps in winter, the town has most of the normal shopping opportunities of most provincial towns, malls, markets etc.

At 13 years old probably only needs a set of brushes and perhaps a bearing.

You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together, and when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it?
