Getting a laptop sent from Europe to Thailand - In three days!
Cameroni replied to Cameroni's topic in IT and Computers
There is a warranty, but I never use warranties. If anything happens I'll take the hit. But I've owned one Samsung laptop from 2010 to now, and the only work that had to be done was the cooling paste which I did myself. The other Asus I had, never any issue, though it's only from 2018. -

One other important thing. This laptop cost 2500 Euros. I got my person in the EU country to remove all packaging and to declare the laptop as 500 Euro and to declare it as a gift. Neither DHL in the EU, nor in Thailand questioned any of this. They simply took the 500 Euro at face value and calculated the VAT of 7% on this 500 Euro. -

They did not have the same one in Thailand anywhere. I guess you pay the VAT on purchase. But in Thailand the VAT is only 7 per cent. I could not believe how cheap it was to import this laptop. But the most incredible thing was that DHL Express got it here in 3 days. That just blew my mind. All good as well, nothing damaged. -
So I wanted to get a laptop sent to me in Thailand from a major EU country. I was of course concerned about damage, loss of the laptop and above all, how long it would take. In case any of you want to get a laptop sent, I have some good news: It took 3 days. I kid you not, it took 3 days. Over the weekend. And since laptops are free of customs duties, the only payable items were customs processing at 200 baht and VAT at 1600 baht, so it cost me a grand total of 1800 Baht to import this laptop. I used DHL Express, the sending cost was around 200 Euro. This can be done in 3 days now. I was blown away.

You can apply for membership at Boots. Can be worth it depending what medication you buy at Boots. I don't bother with any memberships as life is too short.

There are good women everywhere. In the slums. In the Bars. In the nightclubs. In the apps. You just have to have the knowledge about what "good" is with a woman. Unfortunately, too many men do fall for the theatrics of women, we all have. It behooves us to use our head and stomp on our heart, which is easily seduced by the theatrics of women.

You have to have the ability to pick diamonds. To have the savoir faire of seeing the quality woman. This only comes with experience. If you are blessed with this ability you could pick a newcomer who made a mistake and is not a whore with gusto, someone capable of loyalty. But generally speaking most women are about survival, so they'll only be loyal for as long as you can provide her with a good life anyway. Don't expect much. But at the same time be extremely selective.

I like to walk 50 minutes in the morning. When I: do I listen to a Thai language podcast that teaches vocabulary. Two birds with one stone.

Zurich has too many immigrants, the park in Zurich is full of Africans. Dubai has too many Arabs. Monte Carlo has too many uber rich people. South of France is too French. Hawaii, I guess, but it's too far out of the way. None of the places appeals. The only alternative to Thailand would be Singapore or Bali, though now its seems to have gone downhill. But even with those, I would still prefer Thailand.

Foreigners Flaunting Wealth in Thailand: How Is It Viewed?
Cameroni replied to SoCal1990's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There is no hard and fast rule to this. Like in any other country, some will spend the money on family and live modestly, others will buy Lamborghinis. However, by necessity most Thais live modestly as they don't have the means to do otherwise, given that poverty is still rampant here. And no, I don't like sleeping with prostitutes. -
Any way you like, as long as you are learning new words in Thai. There is really no secret, and no special strategy for learning a new language. It comes down to two main things: 1) Learn new vocabulary 2) Learn the grammar. In Thai there is in addition the alphabet and tonality, but whilst I very much will and want to learn the alphabet, that's down the line. First is to become conversationally confident. I'm tri-lingual and speak several languages fluently, I have taught languages to others, and this method works. What I do is leverage Youtube, there are tons of new vocabulary videos. You pick one and do your time. Will you remember everything, obviously not unless you have a special memory abilities, however, you will remember enough to make progress and learn the language. This is an issue of time. The more time you sacrifice the faster it will be. Very true that.

Foreigners Flaunting Wealth in Thailand: How Is It Viewed?

Ah, but it's usually the E Class correct? Never the flashy G-Class. Mercedes has terrible sales figures in Thailand for a resaon. -
I suppose they are seen as the rightful owners of the land, because they mostly occupied it at the time of the influx of Zionists in the late 40s. When the British made such a royal mess of the mandate, clearly it was the Palestinians who were the majority population there. Hence, people view them as the rightful owners, with Zionists buying up and stealing land by stealth afterwards. Even to this day the land grab continues, so it's hard not to see the Palestinians as the rightful owners when even now the Israelis are taking the land from them.
-
Well, we all originated from Africa. Maybe the Israelis want to occupy all of Africa too? Should the descendants of the pre-Clovis people claim all of the USA? Surely you can see how insane this argument is? The world had moved on a bit in 1947. Just a bit.
-
This is a bit like a thief who came to steal your house and then killed your relatives asking "can we not live in peace"? No, sadly, I: think that ship has sailed for Israel a long time ago. With the new attacks on Iran, there will be a new generation of terrorists waiting for Israelis.

All the time. I think about it a lot. Especially during sex. But then I look at the Thai soap operas with prostitutes, and it's clear those Thais are masters of understatement. Even flashy shoes are eschewed for sandals. That Buddhist modesty. -
The funniest thing is this dutch idiot thinks Russia will risk a nuclear war over Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. What would Russia even gain with these tiny insignificant places? Nothing at all. Totally ludicrous nonsense by this dutch idiot.

45 minutes a day. 30 new words a day. Easy.

Very poorly, as Thais who come into money only build very modest looking houses and drive very unassuming cars. Ostentatious spending is unheard of in Thailand...True, some of the houses in the village look like butcher's baroque, but probably Ukrainians or Russians. -
Looks delicious to me. Sure not a classic Rendang, but looks very tasty.

That's the size of the Chinese one they just unveiled. How brilliant is that? You can do surveillance and nobody would notice. Surely it'll be commercially available shortly. And prices should be moderate. -

So true. I want one of those tiny fly-sized drones they just unveiled. Did you see that? Amazing.
