  1. Lots of people think 1 day

I say keep the Songran festival but just turn the water off during dayight hours

Serious drought means what it says and to even consider allowing idiots to throw away this precious resource is ludicrous

People can enjoy the New Year without resorting to throwing water - 20 years ago people survived without mobile phones and the INternet so they can cope with a new year without throwing water

Maybe it is more about making gobs of money

  2. I speak Thai so communicating with locals is no problem but that is not friendship

Oh and I have girlfriend - the post is about friendship with a native English speaker who needs to have more than just a relationship with the Thai wife/girlfriend

    So denim - understand now

  3. Your post was about loneliness

I suggest you focus on your own interests initially and with your busy schedule at work time will fly

Get the Internet installed where you live and find out where other schools are who may have farang teachers.

Meeting your own nationality is not easy here and Pattaya although full of farangs isn't that helpful as most are either on a bar stool or in a relationship with a Thai woman. Also it is a long way to travel. I know because I am reluctant to travel from Sattahip which is half the distance.

I am a teacher working in Sattahip

If you just want a chat by all means contact me - I am in a relationship so don't worry that this is a pick up line because it isn't.

I am 61 so more like a grandfather figure

  4. Well if you have any knowledge of trade unionism you'll know that historically unions have negotiated wage increases and better conditions for everyone and haven't excluded those who are not members.

Workers who try to avoid having to contribute contributions have always been seen as the equivalent of 'black legs' and so many unions through voting established close shops - so if you don't like closed shop look for alternative work

You can't have your cake and eat it

Great result 4 to 4 but the 4 who voted against the Unions were doubtless employer reps

  5. Watch episode 5 of The Night Manager to get a realistic view of priorities in the war business Weapons sales are the priorities for US,UK,French,Russian governments in doing business with Asia, Africa and the Middle East

Any sense of humanitarian positions are secondary and designed to deceive the public and to maximise the sale of military hardware If we were able to analyse the bombs used in Brussels and elsewhere - Yemen - we would see that they were made in one of the countries mentioned above ISIS created by the US Coalition In Iraq - who were in coalition - let's guess US,UK and European countries Point proved

  6. Sympathy to those injured and to families of the dead but my plea is to people to seriously think about who you elect into government and make sure they have strength to not follow the US line like Europe has done for the last decade

Get out of the Middle East and Syria and stay out - your government has no business to be there or to act militarily in any way

They are meddling in things that are beyond their control and this has been so since George Bush invaded Iraq and ousted Saddam - yes he was a tyrant but he controlled these Islamic groups and without him chaos has resulted

  7. Anyone help me with information about roi Et

    Schools/language centres offering special English?

  8. I feel that adolescents should be encouraged to use the Internet as a learning tool with parental guidance

Schools won't provide the education needed even if they had an extra 3 years or for that matter 10 years because the quality is lacking and teachers and administrators are too focussed on looking after themselves rather than helping the youth

Parents in many instances throw good money at so called special lessons and the children receive a poor service ib return

Shift effort and focus toward something that you can use and control - the Internet

  10. Two issues

1 Stray dogs and how to deal with them

2 Using a gun in public or anywhere for that matter

Stray dogs are a consequence of society not looking at ways to curb the numbers of dogs that end up on our streets

Other more compassionate countries try to prevent these dogs breeding by neuting and spaying - will Thailand's government ever consider this method as a means to reduce the stray population - I doubt it - they are too busy lining their own pockets

As for 2 any one who justifies the use of a loaded firearm to deal with an aggressive/stray dog should be considered a danger to society - far greater than the dog and a period of incarceration should be mandatory - will this happen - the wealthy elite always take care of their own so much the same answer as for stray dogs

Some people think they are above the law

In Thailand the law is often ignored as will be the case for this vulgar act
