  1. You and I would think so, I'm sure that the company Astra Zeneca does, and one hopes that common sense will prevail in the near future. However, At the moment, it is the place you have been vaccinated rather than what is breeding your antibodies which dictates the isolation and testing to which you are subject if you wish to set foot in Blighty.
  2. When's your next appointment? I was given AZ there a week ago yesterday, like you I happy with that and relieved. My second dose is on Saturday 30th October, exactly 12 weeks.
  3. "You must have been fully vaccinated under one of the following programmes: UK vaccination programme, approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) UK vaccine programme overseas, approved by the MHRA an approved vaccination programme in Europe or the USA – not all are recognised in England" That's what it says in the document I quoted originally. You may not agree with it, I don't, but no amount of "checking" will change that. Just for info "UK vaccine overseas" means British Overseas territories, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, and, of course, crown servants based overseas. So our own dear British Embassy staff, who may have had Astra Zeneca jabs here, can waltz in with no restrictions while you and I must suck it up, because we're second class citizens.
  4. Has anyone who has travelled into the UK in the last couple of months kept a copy of the "Passenger Locator Form" that you have to submit? I'd be interested to see it. I started the online application, but gave up when they required an explanation of why I would only accept SMS texts rather than phone calls - as if I'm going to keep my DTAC number open all day. Normally I buy a simcard when I get there. I was just wondering if there's any workaround if you transit, say, Amsterdam and say you've been staying there. I guess there isn't.
  5. Edit of the above:- The wording they use is "Quarantine on arrival at home or at the place you're staying" - so you don't have to go to one of those ghastly quarantine hotels.
  6. Quarantine and testing if you've been in an amber list country - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) That guidance is quite clear, although you or I may not agree with it. Irrespective of what vaccine you've had, arriving from Thailand, an amber list country, requires you to quarantine and test on arrival. Only if you've been vaccinated in the UK, the EU or the USA can you avoid quarantine.
  7. One hopes they would have the common sense to realise that having a substantial sector of the population remaining unvaccinated would put their health system at risk at some stage, but who knows. In Rayong Province the "Thais first" principle is being applied. A Kiwi neighbour who applied through their website (quoted in the British Consulate advisory) was given an appointment for yesterday. He went and was turned away - "Thai people only". This is a long-term resident, businessman, work permit, pays taxes. He said there was a group of Filipinos being given the same answer. Then later on, they must have rummaged round and found some Sinovac at the back of the fridge, because they phoned him up and offered him a shot of that. He had the impression that "Thais only" was an edict from on high, but the people doing the vaccinations were uncomfortable with that. In the meantime he had managed to arrange an appointment in Bangkok via the British Chamber of Commerce. So, unless able to get on one of the programmes centred mainly on Bangkok, for many expats throughout Thailand getting vaccinated seems to be something of a lottery. The inert laisser-faire attitude of the British Government should be viewed in that light.
  8. As best I understand it from this government page, no vaccine administered in Thailand is currently accepted for entry to UK from Thailand. As already posted, you have to self-isolate for 10 days and pay for tests. Quarantine and testing if you've been in an amber list country - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) So, if you've been jabbed with, say, AstraZeneca in Europe you only have to take pre- and post- tests, if you've been given AZ in Thailand you must lock yourself up for 10 days.
  9. I had the AstraZeneca vaccine at MedPark last Saturday. My appointment for the second dose is Saturday 30th October, exactly 12 weeks. The process on Saturday was far more civilised than that described here. Only 16 numbers in front of me, queue moved very quickly, I was in and out in less than an hour.
  10. I can't remember, but it wasn't very expensive. I think it was this company that I used:- How Do I Change My Name | UK Deed Poll Service The process was quite simple, and the deed was accepted by HMPO without question.
  11. That is so. HMPO are arrogant enough to suggest that if the name in your other passport is different, then you must get that one changed. When we renewed my missis's UK passport a few years ago, it would have been a real faff to change her Thai id, bank accounts and everything, so she changed her UK name to her Thai name by deedpoll and applied with that, no problem. As mentioned above, a full colour copy of both passports is required.
