  1. A doctor's prescription sounds like a very possible future requirement. And, as you said, it will be something very easy for most everyone to obtain. But what we don't know is if people (who qualify to use cannabis for medical purposes) will also be required to only obtain their cannabis in the form of oils produced by the government and distributed by a hospital pharmacy. If the government does intend to really make "medical use only" a serious requirement then it could end up going in a more controlled direction to where flowers become fully illegal for the average person. The other and more concerning gray area is, even if you have a medical certificate permitting medical use, and you are using cannabis to relax, improve mood, or reduce anxiety, the authorities could still accuse someone and fine/jail them for recreational use on the basis that they are still getting some enjoyment from the use of the cannabis. So it can become a subjective issue. Basically, any sweeping changes to the law that can impose fines and jail time for recreational use does place things on a much more slippery slope.
  2. All I know is that I was told by UOB that the only requirement to release funds upon death to a named beneficiary on a UOB account is that the beneficiary needs to present a copy of their Thai ID card and the death certificate. You may want to check with UOB directly for further clarification if you doubt this to be correct.
  3. I did not intend to suggest that the clause on the back of the pink card will limit a pink card holder's movements within Thailand of someone who has a passport and who isn't a migrant worker. However, I was told directly by DLT that if you want to use a pink card for address verification (as opposed to obtaining a letter of residence address verification from the Thai immigration department) that the pink card will be accepted as such but that the DL issued would only permit driving of a vehicle in the province in which the DL was issued. I'm only repeating what I was told directly by the DLT back in 2020. If this is really not the law then that would be good news.
  4. The certified translation of your passport is a standard requirement for obtaining the yellow book and will need to be done by a Thai government office. If you're in Bangkok I think that it can be done at one of the government offices in the complex out in CW. Fee is around 1,000 Baht I recall, plus a small extra processing fee if you want to have it done for you while you wait. Birth certificate don't know about. Never heard of that as a requirement for anything in Thailand. Passport already certifies your date and place of birth.
  5. Presumably much of people's income that was already taxed abroad won't be taxed again in Thailand because Thailand has double taxation agreements with at least 61 countries: What is a double tax agreement? Double taxation occurs when two or more different jurisdictions are taxing the same declared income. This can happen when an individual or a company resides and operates in more than one country and is mitigated by double tax agreements between countries. As a result, the income will be taxed only once. If an individual generates income in Thailand but does not have a permanent establishment in the country, the income on business profits is subject to an exemption. Only interest, dividends and royalties may be taxed in the country in which the income arises if there is no permanent establishment. Additionally, the withholding taxes on payments of income to foreign juristic entities not carrying on business in Thailand may be reduced or exempted under the double tax agreement.
  6. You can use it in many situations in Thailand in lieu of your passport where you might be required to show a photo ID. But if you don't have one, and you also don't want to carry your passport at all times, then in some instances a photo of your passport presented on your phone screen will suffice.
  7. Legal marriage to a Thai is not one of legal requirements. The main requirements are a valid yellow book, a valid long term visa, and a Thai translator/witness to accompany you during the process to verify that you understand what's stated in the documents that you will be required to fill out and sign for the card.
  8. It's not only available to permanent residents. Anyone on a long term "O" category visa can apply too. Also, people on a work permit with a one year visa are also eligible.
  9. Adding to my previous post above, a beneficiary named on an account prevents the need for any probate, wills, court judgements, etc. All that is required from the named beneficiary is a death certificate in order to claim the funds from the bank. The beneficiary option may also be available at some other banks in Thailand too besides UOB, but I haven't really looked into it. I know that Bangkok Bank doesn't offer it though as I did inquire with them previously.
  10. Note that item #3 of the standard terms on the back of pink cards state that the cardholder is not permitted to leave the area. What it says exactly is this: ๓. The reason for this is because the majority of pink card holders are migrant workers from neighboring countries who aren't permitted to travel outside of the district that they reside in Thailand without having permission. The impact of this, for example, is if you intend to use the pink card for proof of residence address when applying for a driving license in Thailand is that they will only be able to issue you a driving license that only allows you to drive within the province where the driving license is issued. In general, the pink card has fairly limited use and value and in many cases isn't worth the effort if you don't have a yellow book already and/or if the district office will make it difficult for you to meet their guidelines to get one.
  11. Sorry if my post is redundant, but UOB gives you a form to sign when you open savings account in Thailand where you can name a beneficiary for your account when you die. The beneficiary can be anyone. Your wife, your children, your mistress, your dog, UP2U.
  12. Any changes to the cannabis laws in Thailand would only affect recreational use and impact retail operations. It wouldn't have any impact on the growers. So it can't go back to only brick weed being available in Thailand. Impossible. Too many growers already invested into operations growing good quality stuff. You could have the loss of domestic consumption result in 30% less demand though, but with roughly the same amount of supply. The laws of supply and demand dictate that when demand drops, and supply remains constant, that prices fall. Hard to predict how prices will go in this market if the laws change again, but raising them even more could only make matters less lucrative for anyone trying to sell to end users. For the most part, retail prices at "dispensaries" aren't low in Thailand to begin with. The majority of them sell 150-200B/G bud for 500-700B/G on average. That's even higher than black market prices in many developed countries where it's still loosely illegal. It's fine to pay those prices if you are a tourist from a country where it's highly illegal, and your only going to buy 2-3 grams for a bit of fun as a one-off during your holiday in Thailand, but the majority of people in Thailand don't and won't pay those prices, not even now. I suspect if the laws change on recreational use that the prices and availability from most of the current suppliers will remain roughly the same. What you will have though are more people in the industry becoming desperate as demand drops. So expect even more of those photos circulating with images of green bud that promise you 30% THC for 10B/G. In reality though, they will likely be sending you Grade-C weed that's just one notch above brick weed (if your lucky), that's assuming they even send out any real weed at all.
  13. @Bday Prang - 40B/G isn't cheap if it's trash. You can also still get some of the Thai brick weed (which was the main type of weed available in Thailand for decades) for 3B/G, but it doesn't mean you would want to smoke it. Below is also 10B/G claiming to be 30% THC. UP2U Neh.
  14. Thanks for the feedback. They seem to offer roughly 3 price tiers: 30-50B/G, 100B/G, and 180-210B/G. Which price range did you order from that you felt it was well below expectations? I think any 30-50B/G weed would be below a quality level I would find acceptable. But if I ordered anything in that price range from any of these low cost sellers then I would assume it is only going to be one notch above brick weed. So one needs to temper their expectations.
  15. Above and below images are all from the online shop using “@ca08” as their LINE ID. Reviews have been mixed on the quality of most of the strains. I thought the Black Lebanon looked good, but on the other thread about low cost weed someone said: “black lebanon didn't give me anything. very light cbd effect if at all.” Fat Banana also looks OK going by the photos of the new strains, but again hard to really know.
  16. Not sure where that photo is from, but those prices are good for Grade-B quality. The Black Lebanon photo looks like good buds, but not sure if you will receive exactly what you see in the photos. The rest of it looks like it has sugar leaves and lacks trichomes, that's why I'm calling it Grade-B. It still looks better than average brick weed though. COD doesn't guaranty you'll be happy with what you receive if you buy weed online, it only prevents making a pre-payment and not receiving anything at all.
  17. Yes, and historically "Thai Stick" brick type weed has never had more than around 6%-8% THC.
  18. I would be surprised too if it's 20% for only 30B/G, but that's what it says on their website.
  19. I had a look at the promotions page. Most of it looks like Grade-B to me. But at 50B/G that's what I would expect, so that's fair for that level of quality. The only one that looked like really good quality (and value for money) on their promotions page is one called "Do si do" at 80B/G. That's a good price if it's really Grade-A and really has 27% THC. The thing though is that the first few photos of Do si do that show the buds in bulk don't look so good at all, but then the hand with the black gloves holding the individual buds looks really good. Question is, what will you get? I probably wouldn't take the chance and order more than 1 gram to see, given the inconsistency of the photos. Also, when weed sellers do promotions I ask myself why would they need to drop the price a lot if it's really top quality weed? For example, Do si do would be worth closer to 150 Baht for one gram if it's really a 27% THC indica dominant strain. What I suspect is that most of the lower price, but higher quality weed you see for sale in Thailand has been in stock for a few months, lost some of its freshness and potency and, thus the seller may be eager to get rid of it before it ages even more. Nothing wrong with buying one gram of it though to see. If it isn't high quality then all you have lost is 80 Baht and then you know.
  20. There is brick weed for sale on PrikPot that comes in 50 gram bricks and it says it's 20% THC, hybrid, sativa dominant, greenhouse grown, etc. They call it Foi Thong, which appears to be a Thai Stick strain.
  21. Thanks for that info. Most of what I get (that I consider the higher quality, Grade-A stuff) is usually tightly packed buds, not too hard when you squeeze them, and sometimes sticky or has a lot of resin, depending on the strain. That's what I've found usually has the most THC. I have gotten some stuff that doesn't have as many terpenes though, the buds are softer and pull apart more easily, and it's generally drier and not sticky. Usually that stuff doesn't seem like it has as much THC when I vape it. It seems more like Grade-B than Grade-A, but it still does the job reasonably well. I've also had some stuff that looks a bit like Grade-B, with some sugar leaf bits woven in with the buds, but still seems to have strong THC. So you can't always judge by appearance I've realized. Just going by the photo you posted that looks a bit like some of the Grade-B stuff I've gotten in the past with the lower THC levels. I can see traces of leaves mixed in and the buds don't look like a dense cluster of little sticky nuggets. As I said though, I've also had some high THC stuff that didn't look as good or smell as strong as some of the Grade-A stuff, so I stopped judging solely by appearance and smell. 👍🏼
  22. Earlier I vaped some of the 5 herb blend I made. Has a total relaxing Indica feel and lots of flavor. The 5 strains were mostly Indica dominant hybrids but some of them are also supposed to be happy and uplifting. I really like the vibe of this mix. I can see going on with it for a while.
  23. That's interesting and makes sense why you do it for those buds. I have never had any high THC buds though with low taste and smell. Are these high THC buds very dense, or at least have a lot of resin and/or sticky or are they just dry?
  24. Today I had a bit of shake left over in a few different bags from a few different strains. So I mixed it all together and put it into the dry herb vape. It was far more interesting than what I was expecting. So many different flavors and turpenes coming out of the vape at once. But it also gave me a really nice buzz for a few hours. Then I had a thought; why don't I intentionally mix 5 of my favorite strains together? So I made my own party mix. I took about 1/3 of a gram of each of the 5 as an experiment and mixed them together inside a plastic medicine bottle, which gave me 1.5 grams in total of mixed ground up flower. I haven't vaped it yet, but I'm really excited to see what this feels like tomorrow. Maybe it becomes my new favorite? I wonder if mixing strains together like this a common thing and if people do it often. 👀
  25. If anyone really believes they don't know how to grow top quality herb in Thailand then you should watch the video below of this professional growing operation:
