  1. I have and its exactly the same.
  2. Calm down, it doesn't do for a man of your age to go getting so upset.
  3. The next thing you know, people will be claiming that these pesky bikers ride at night without any lights on.
  4. A totally enthralling story, thanks so much for reporting this, Our lives will be so much richer as a result of your selfless toils.
  5. They don't do that anymore - remember? Sorry but I'm struggling to keep a straight face - a fire truck bursts into flames on its way to deal with a fire, you just couldn't make this stuff up, could you? Later, Mr Somchai Laurel and Mr Saman Hardy stated they felt lucky to be alive.
  6. Motorbikes going the wrong way in Thailand? Never heard anything so outlandish in my life.
  7. Oh please! Go easy on him, don't you know he's a sick man 😁.
  8. Another Thai news source (I don't think I can name it) goes really over the top on this story: Near Disaster Averted: Thai Airline Flight’s Dramatic Engine Failure and Heroic Crew Response They show a photo of a plane with a gaping hole in the fuselage (nothing to do with this incident) - crazy!!! More footage states: 'With the world’s eyes glued to this developing story' Slightly over the top me thinks!
  9. Are you the guy in other threads - the one that seems to want to jail and deport everyone?
  10. And the Thai's that do stop and pay a *fine* for not having their licence with them (the licence they don't actually have)? Ride around with no helmets on every day? Run red lights? Ride the wrong way on a carriageway? Have no lights? The vast majority of the above goes unpunished. In central Korat underage schoolkids ride 3 up with no helmets on, on their way to school, right in front of the police controlling the traffic - are they not breaking Thai laws with impunity? These foreigners in Phuket need to learn from the Thai's that ignore police checkpoints - take your number plate off stupid! It seems these *netizens* really don't like us 😁.
  11. Has anyone used the Wise debit card in Thailand? Work in Thai ATM's? Charges? Given that its not a Visa or Mastercard, have you been able to make purchases with it?
  12. They are available in my local store but after changing a few and the fact that my ceiling lamp was continually full of dead insects I changed it for a circular LED ceiling lamp. It wasn't expensive, insects can't get in and it should be cheaper to run. 5 minutes to fit.
  13. I'm curious to learn why you think problems are a possibility - just don't forget your re-entry permit.
  14. It wouldn't matter if there were positive reports, 1 person with such a history might pass through immigration without question, someone with the same entry history in a different queue might be denied. With that sort of history its down to the I.O. on the day.
  15. Thailand is not Europe. Its very difficult to hold a Thai lawyer responsible for any advice they give - so with an accountant, you've no chance. Of course, employing an decent accountant should result in your tax return being correct but I'm pretty sure that if its not - ultimately you will be the one held responsible.
  16. In that video he says he's 35 - I'd have put him at 47 ish. Clearly the gym life, taken to the extreme, doesn't do you a lot of good.
  17. Which is probably why the smarter ones don't go there.
  18. Did anyone watch the palava regarding the release? I'm surprised that anyone got out alive - Hamas had little control of the crowds and they were messing around for hours. It must have been an extremely worrying time for the hostages.
  19. Right, so have you any idea what Customs mean then?
  20. Would I be correct in saying that if you leave and re-enter, the first 90 day report must be done in person every time?
  21. The only Western food I can't do without is my English breakfast. The rest of the time I eat 99% Thai food. Getting decent bacon used to be difficult but its readily available now - depending on where you live. Mine comes from Korat Chef in Korat. They sell quite a lot of Western branded food - at a price. I bring Yorkshire Tea, Aldi brown sauce (identical to HP at 1/3 of the price) and a few tins of baked beans in with me when I come back from the UK - the beans run out pretty quickly though. I used to pay ridiculous prices for the local Ayams brand but they seem to have changed recently and are 'mai arroy' - I'd rather go without.
  22. Quite the oppostite, I don't see how it can mean PR. Other rules on bringing in your furniture and personal effects state it must be done either 1 month before entry or a maximum of 6 months after. Obtaining PR takes years therefore an applicant with PR would be well past the 6 month limit.
  23. Do you still have your UK driving licence? If so, give your UK address as shown on the licence and provide the licence as proof.
  24. Hmmm, then how does this work? In 2011 I was on the back of a motorbike taxi in Bangkok when we were hit by a taxi that pulled out of a side road. The taxi driver (apparently legally) only had 3rd class insurance so the payout I received for my injuries/hospital treatment was way short of the total cost. The lawyer I employed to deal with my claim said we would firstly sue the taxi driver for the shortfall and if it turns out he has no money or land, the claim would move on to his immediate family - someone would most likely own land. I was astounded that it was possible to claim against family assets. The taxi driver was totally in the wrong and a bloody idiot - however, he was just an ordinary poor guy who shared the taxi with 2 others - each working 8 hour shifts. I had lost quite a lot of money but I had no desire to make this guy's life any harder than it already was. Once checks into the driver's assets revealed he had nothing and I declined to take action against the family. My lawyer however, told me that it was quite normal for direct family assets to be seized to settle claims.
