Thai Interior minister hails the arrest of deputy’s son-in-law
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Arrested for sure as public opinion in Thailand is shifting and corruption is no longer tolerated. But once in detention, will they get VIP treatment that any other falang joe soap would never have got obviously ? -
Dengue fever remains a clear and present danger in Thailand

Built a house, got a solar roof, have questions
Sigmund replied to mahjongguy's topic in The Electrical Forum
Many house developpments managers in beach towns like Hua Hin or Phuket, refuse house owners to export their solar power within the developpment as the electricity passes through the developpment and not directly from the government. The managers obivously just want to make money with those paying inflated regular electricity bills and do not wish to hand back any perks to those who buy on leasehold and have absolutely no rights. Never buy a house in Thailand on leasehold as you just get screwed by the developpers usually, especially in farang run housing projects. Not all of course, but many. -
Water proof paint? Mold and mildew and dust resistent etc?
Sigmund replied to ElephantEgo's topic in DIY Forum
The paint is rarely at fault. It's usually the painter who gets stingy with the product and over dillute. This happens even in using staff recommended or employed by those swanky pool villa developpments. I recall in Hua Hin once when I rented a villa in a farang run house developpment. Not only it was more costly then a hotel. but also much to far away from the main town area. On peeping over the walls in the houses around, I saw many practically brand new homes that were not even occupied, that had their paint crapping on various parts. Very bad work and many residents were saying that the developpers used bad labour to do much of the jobs (paint or general finish). Bad construction in these villa developpments of Hua Hin. Bad image for the developpement. But foolish farang owners just don't seem to care and pay like geese. -
Oh man....trip down memory lane. .... the fella must have had loads of unloaded non protected intercourse !!

Life means take care of it. That means your life, not others. Stop that daily booze. Quite smooking. Avoid over use of hookers in massage parlours and unprotected oral. Eat at home regularly. Stop stuffing yourself with those snaks, beers and sandwiches at the heya-mate sports bar. Exercise as often as you can. Avoid toxic people (that would mean most of the bitter, sour farangs). Stay away from Dr Qwack who will prescribe antibiotics just for the common cold. And once again, get rid of all those people around who are sour and bitter...which could mean even people like meself !!!

Wonder if those on leasehold in the pool villa developpments will benefit from the discounts ? As they pay their bills directly to the developpers. Usually the electric or water charged in housing developpment communities is more costly as the community managers take their cut. So better think twice even before renting in such places.

Light coloured or dark coloured car choice.
Sigmund replied to Asquith Production's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Dark coloured cars look really smart, rich or official etc etc...but they are a magnet to show dirt and dust, -
All depends on the situation. Anybody who is totally broke in the west with a disgraceful pension or no pension like many in the US, UK, Australia, would probably be in a similar dramatic situation in Thailand and burden the system. European retirees from rich countries like Germany, France, Switzerland or other nordic countries on the other hand mostly have great pensions, great healthcare valid worldwide and usually are the Snowbirds who come here only in winter. The Thais think that the farang who wants to say in Thailand full time, usually did not make it back home.

Government to promote production and use of EVs in Thailand
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Cars need to be banned in certain downtown areas like in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket or mainly Hua Hin where the pollution can get intense in the crop burning season north. But do not make the same mistake as many places in Europe. First make proper pubic transport that is fast, cheap and with easy and direct access as much as possible. Then create pedestrian only areas in popular towns. -
Avoid such places, Point out the behaviour on social media under the name of the establishment. It's the only way they learn. I have a crappy computer, with no personnal email or any connection on my private network. I only use it in public space wifi to give post my rants against bad service. Same with a phone. Always have a crappy smartphone with no personnal data, contacts etc and loaded with a top up sim card available over the counter and no questions or id asked, Of course only for legitimate use and just to rant against bad service all over. Helps others not to meet with bad service.

Spending Money - Should I follow my Friends Advice ?
Sigmund replied to AlienBoy's topic in General Topics
When money is involved, even the next kith and kin can fight. Not to mention a wife or spouse. Put the deserving by all means in a will but never throw around money all over in bars, clubs, restaurants or in a flashy exposed life style. It usually ends up with trouble in Los. -
Don't like to use Line. Far to many scams and safety loopholes. Awful client assistance when there are tech problems.

Ambulance driver probed over snack stop during emergency
Sigmund replied to snoop1130's topic in Central Thailand News
Are there not nurses to attend at the back while the driver goes bananas ? -
I doubt that a bunch of bearded, Oakley sun glassed, PLO scarf clad, US Navy Seals, would be allowed anywhere in Thailand or near the dignitaries, if Putin responds to the courtesy call.
-
Precisely not. Because any head of state who is overdressed in top class luxury 150 yarn silk wool, italian cut, can send the wrong message to his people who are not all minting money. The PM is wise to dress as he does, not to flashy but still in formal attire. Get the point my dear fellow poster ?

Here is a link to a reputable french paper, that does date back, but will give you an idea of what is being talked about here. I assume you are familiar with Google Translate. Take the facts reported and multiply by 2 as since the article was posted, is has got worse. Drug wars in France for instance. You have criminals using assault rifles to shoot in broad daylight aiming their competition and just sprey bullets in mad frenzy and kill bystanders who have nothing to do with it. So yes, France is highly dangerous for anybody now. Not to mention the attacks on tourists to rob them in touristic spots of Paris or Marseille.

Europe has for long opened it's doors to many unwanted people fleeing their nations on various motivations. Terrorists or criminals sneak into such groups that are obivously not all baddies and set up shop in western europe. The western countries are ruled by Bruxelles and thus cannot expel the unwanted very easyly. Europe is dooming itself in letting such people remain within it's borders. Take the quality migrants and refugees who are educated by all means. But send the trouble makers or those living off the system back home or pay another country to take them.
