  1. The foreign media and governance seems far to busy picking on Trump or Russia, when these despicable war crimes in Gaza are going on for years in broad daylight.
  2. In Thailand one is always better off to avoid having any dealing with the foreigners here. When it comes to cheating other foreigners, often had the worst experience when the falang contactor shows up with his expectant thai wife/assistant-mia noi and pretends to know all about the job. If one has to get cheated with contractors (and you will be as a foreigner) might as well get cheated by a Thai with Thai prices and not some upstart falang cheating the naive westerner for the job and over inflated prices for the work. Of course this is only a basic opinion based on experiences or peer feedbacj and obviously must not be generalized as to say they are all like this or that.
  3. This news needs to be mentioned in all international media and mainly in Europe and places like Germany, Norway, Danemark, Switzerland etc where people have good spending power and are purchasing houses on leasehold. If the 3 x 30 is a plain lie, foreigners need to be informed never to buy a house on leasehold in Thailand.
  4. For Visa exempt passport, what is the new rule now ? 30 days or is it still 60 days please ? Thank you.
  5. What about those automated gated ? Last time I was directed to exit immigration on departure thru those automated gates. No check or stamp. So that gives an open option for the immigration fellow on next visit to start to make a fuss and falsely claim I have overstayed ? The more it goes, the more tourists never wish to come back to Thailand if it's just to get harassed or cheated all over.
  6. Nana area in Bangkok is the capital of cheating and scams from anything to shops, tailors, soapys etc...far better places in Bangkok even for hanky panky. Also fully agree to totally avoid any kind of pub be in Bangkok, Phuket or Hua Hin. Full of mouthy drunks looking for trouble et giving a bad name to all falangs in Thailand.
  7. No way I am going to trust the thais to do proper cleaning and maintenance or such apparatus. Even when you hire them to do a simple job like to clean and refil an aircon, you'd better know a bit what needs to be done and closely watch if they do it or not.
  8. These cops in Thailand are just a corrupt bunch who are always looking to pick on anyforeigner available to racket and extort. Wear a helmet next time with a shaded visor or sun shades, so that the corrupt BIB cannot see who is driving.
  9. Since the cut has been approved, the authorities would need to inform all the villa developpments that directly charge the homeowners. In many such developpments in Hua Hin and elsewhere, the owners directly pay the electric bills monthly to the developpement owners, who naturally highly overcharge. Another good reason to think twice before buying property in such gated villa developpements in Hua Hin or elsewhere.
  10. As a retaliation western western countries should do the same to non European passengers with some special hassles for the Thai nationals.
  11. Once the lives are saved and things settle, will there be an investigation on how construction contractors cheat with lower grade materials or unqualified staff or non respect of basic curing protocols when applying cement ? Or will it once again all be hushed up with bribes or corruption ? Just asking, not insinuating anything. Be it a customer who is a home owner or a larger scale developper. Almost every foreigner who bought property in Thailand,. can relate some horror stories when dealing with construction contractors be it for a villa in Hua Hin, a condo in Bangkok or a townhouse elsewhere. Lower grade materials and cement used. They just openly lie if the customer challenges anything and when they feel they are caught, they will suddenly "forget" how to speak in english. This happens on a daily basis with contractors in Hua Hin and all over the nation.
  12. Sorry to spoil the party, but all my friends living in Europe have one main dream....that one day they may have somebody like Trump and Musk to run the European Union or their respective countries in western Europe. Like it or not...
  13. 2 types of people amongst others, are destroying the image of Thailand abroad and locally. First the immigration department policies, their absurd red tape against foreigners and all the absurd hassles for long stay visas directed even for foreigners who own a home/condo in Thailand are who are the far bigger spenders then the hordes of drunks an crooks who come in for 2 weeks. Second, the crooked construction contractors who used lower grade materials, cheat customers, use unqualified staff and overcharge.
  14. Bangkok is a disaster of pollution at toxic levels. and nothing is done to enhance public transport and mainly to discourage people from taking their private cars. Same in other places like Hua Hin where public transport is a disaster and no proper connections between Hua Hin and surrounding villages like Hin Lek Fai that have large communities living and commuting to Hua Hin center.
  15. Not sure for drugs, but never pay more then 1500 for a good finish at a soapy. 🤪
  16. Like anyplace, those with cash will travel and those with no cash will stay back home. But there are quite a few americains all around. One can hear them loudly speaking as if they owned the place.
  17. Were they hooked to the same electric transformer as Heathrow ? 🤣 Trillons of £ for the corrupt regime in Ukraine but what is done to improve the life of the people in the UK ?
  18. Drugs are going to destroy Thai society, Thai youth, and the Thai economy with all the weirdo falang junkies comming in.
  19. There is more and more hate against falangs in Thailand. Foreigners need to understand that. But there are also far to many loud mouthy and arrogant falangs who also have it comming on the the other hand. But no reason to beat them to death. Time to look into more friendly country in Asia I guess ?
  20. Prices in places like Bangkok or Hua Hin are often comparable with those in Europe. Mainly in the shopping malls and for house upgrade or repair services. In fact the worst cheating is in Hua Hin with crooked contractors charging prices close to those in the west, using lower grade materials, unqualified workers, jobs not finished or properly supervised. Hint : if you have construction upgrade to do in your house, check everything, starting with the cement they use as they tend to use the cheaper brands that are crap and not properly mixed. Next never pay anything more then 20% at start, a bit more in the middle and the balance only when the job is done. If you can, have a contract made in Thai with a local lawyer. It may cost a bit, but will avoid far more cheating from a majority of the building contractors in Hua Hin and probably elsewhere. And last of all, never mandate for work to be done when you are not around and watch them closely that they do not steal the surplus of material you have provided. And don't get fooled with the old lie of over quoting the cost of the materials. They will add 4000 to 5000 THB more, in comparison to what is the real cost even in places like Home Pro where the materials will be much cheaper.
  21. These 60+ levels all over Thailand and around Bangkok are plainly toxic. People do not seem to want to enjoy their retirement for very long in comming to Thailand mainly in the northen parts. The southers parts or the islands are a bit better maybe.
  22. With all the money involved and the amount of people on the very top of the food chain getting their kickback, small chances that drug trafficking or consumption would ever be wiped out. Just look at the amount of top level deciders or politicians who are junkies themselves, no matter where in the world. That itself will give a scope on how deep the plague has gotten to.
  23. I am not going to give a penny to the local xenophobic greed who never cease to hassle foreigners here in Thailand. Those who can, stay for 179 days only. Move over to other sunny and low cost nations like Portugal or Malta, or elsewhere in Asia. 2 of my neighbours in Hua Hin have already packed since last year and now only stay in Thailand for 4 months. The other lucky countries get their money for the remaining time on the calender year.
  24. If you want to see real restaurant rip offs and overcharging consumers, go for a weekend to Hua Hin.
