I still have not understood why despite serious and reliable warnings from Egypt and the US before the terrorist attack last year, Israel dit not react to prevent it or to at least step up the level of presence all along the border ? Could be the safest to consider Thai direct flights to BKK. They connect most big cities around the world to popular destinations in Thailand in one direct go. Emirates and similar are top class carriers no doubt, but those annoying waiting hours in those XXXL airports, not for me.

Of course it's illegal. More and more legal hassles or formalities put up in Thailand, that can be more and more a nightmare (tax, immigration etc) All these can be a jackpot for all the specialised lawyers who see big opportunity to make more money. Obviously another job "reserved for Thai" and the falang is only expected to pay the huge fees and nothing else...

Hope they have a large wide angle phone to take the picture of all the cops grinning and posing on the group photo.

Deport these junkies immediately back to their home countries in Europe. These people are wrecked with drugs, have a cost to the healthcare system and are a public threat to safety. They tarnish the image of all falangs in Thailand. Such incidents seem to be on the rise ever since cannabis became legal and shops popped up all over the country.

A snake is like a weapon. Always to be considered loaded and dangerous, I definately would not mess around. Use waterproof swiming glasses or better a full face waterproof mask and use the 3 meter long pool cleaning rod with net to gently push the chap out and drop in the nearest gutter is what I may do. But best to to watch it and call the snake removal service that every area has if you can and take a pic if possible as it is useful in case you get bitten for ID and to give the proper anti venom. Snakes can sneak in in aircons so get the units cleaned at least once a year. Best deterrent for snakes is strong smell like amoniac or eaucalyptus and similar that they cannot stand. Many cleaning products have it. Regularly spray around the property. Snakes love big bushes, stone piles, rock piles, shoes left outside, behind the cushions of any outdoor furniture etc. If you want to play it safe, avoid any such places where they can linger in. Keep the entire garden at floor level exposed with no bushes around that enable them to hide, This wont prevent them, but will avoid giving them extra hiding areas. Many snakes are harmless, useful to control rodents, frogs etc. But even many of those harmless. they can badly bite your flesh and can cause severe bleeding and nasty wounds taking ages to heal.

Some gypsy gangs were known to mutilate young kids and put them in the streets of European capitals without a leg or an arm to generate pity and more revenue from begging. Unfortunately we always want to help the poor, but giving alms to beggers anyplace today, could lead to indirectly financing human traficking and a well organised racket. Sad but the only way is to stop giving money to anybody such begging in the street. Sad, as you really want to humbly help and give them something...

There are 2 factors in currency fluctuation. 1. The trends and realities on the international market 2. The steps taken by the domestic governance of the currency who can manipulate it up or down in the markets either by extensively buying it's own currency to make it artificially rise or flodding the marken in dumping and selling it to make it loose value. If the hi so's who rule a country want to take out their money and invest it abroad they will do anything to increase the value of the currency by extensively makint the Central Bank buy. If others want rather to help their exports or tourist industry, they will extensively dump and make the bank sell to drop the value in the international market which means more THB for a tourist for ex who changes money and cheaper cost for other countries wanting to import the goods. All depends on what the people in power want to do with their money...and their interests. Sure a cheaper THB sounds attractive to get more Bhats in exchanging euros or UK£ or whatever. But a low THB means a substantial increase of prices in anything imported. Consequently, those XXL oversized chunks of roast beef and other stuff many westerners cheries, could highly increase. So one may get more THB at the exchange counter, but if it's only to have to shell out more to live here..no point.

I stopped going to Hua Hin as was fed up in getting ripped off in many restaurants where they openly like to overcharge foreigners. Many restaurants and shops charge foreigners similar prices then in Europe, so no point. It's not being a Cheap Charlie...it's just about not being stupid and getting cheated.

One just has to see the amont of foreigners selling away their houses bought in Hua Hin, to understand it's not the best. It is overpriced for anything to everything (real estate, food, restaurants,bars and the overaged ladies) Even prices in the few Malls of Hua Hin are sometimes higher compared to similar brands elsewhere. The main town area around Hilton is plainly a tourist trap and the restaurats and small shops seen to have got spoilt with the guilable "ohh wow" type tourists who foolishly just pay because they got a good exchange rate for the cash. The beach is filthy and full of jellyfish so if you come to check things, make sure you rent a place with a pool. I would definately look at other places with cheaper housing and more friendly people. Hua HIn is becomming a ghetto for retired foreigners and soon you will only find costly fish and chips all over and less and less quality cheap price thai food.

Actually in France and Switzerland, driving a black Benz makes one look like an Uber driver as most of the Ubers in Europe are now Benz's...

In recent visits in Europe, I was surprised in seeing a few Audi's and VW's parked aside the highways due to some kind of breakdown. Also saw a few BMW's but less. Keep in mind that the so called great brands of Germany are rarely assembled in Germany. They use many 2nd or 3rd grade countries in eastern europe to assemble the cars. Also have in mind that your Audi or similar has more then half of it's components, Made in (Guess where)....China!! All this to say., imagine Thailand in that case. I'd go only for either a Japanese or Chinese now. Nothing else for sure and definately not anything American or even from the EU.

The rats leaving the ship and grabbing all they can,. But how can a cop, not matter how high his or her rank, have so much valuables and money ? Impossible with a honest government salary in Thai Bhat. 🤔

Bye Bye Ali Express. Thailand is really doomed with all it's new absurd tax hassles. As if immigration hassles were already not enough to chase away people (and their money). Time to start considering another Asian coutry or some sunny area in Spain where life can be cheaper compared to Thailand.

Each bank branch has it's own rules, even if their Main Office says it differently. I got my bank account opened on Visa exempt, as I was introduced by a customer. Some other banks, even when you have a 3 month non O visa, can refuse and rudely brush you off. Welcome to Thailand. Best is to go shop around the Banks in popular tourist areas around Nana and try one's luck.

Same for the residence certificate racket in Hua Hin, sometimes you don't pay as per the rules and another time some overweight corrupt one in uniform will charge...and of course they will tell you to go to hell if you ask for a receipt.

In many areas of Spain either on the continent or in one of their fine islands, found the prices to be often cheaper for consumer goods compared to Thailand. Imported food in the supermarkets also cheaper then thailand. Restaurants in Spain, very reasonable and the booze was also definately cheaper and of better quality compared to Thailand. Great health care also, no tax hassles and no other harassment from immigration or the cops pulling you over on the street just to racket money from tourists. Spain is a popular choice with retirees and expats from all over Europe and the real estate has many reasonable prices.

Surprising that a corrupt cop gets busted in Thailand. What happened ? He refused to split with his bosses ?

No matter what you get at the exchange booth, in many cities like Bangkok, Hua Hin or Phuket, the prices are purely ripoffs in most restaurants, shopping malls or various home maintenance services - falang special rate of course. Hopefully, it still remains civil in remonte villages...?

People are always asking the wrong questions. In the first place. why is the far right progressing so fast all over Europe (and in America) ? Answer is that this is due to the only fault of the wokes who are ruling the EU commission in Bruxelles. They are making Europe a slave of America. Adopting the US sanctions against Russia have plumetted many European countries in economic crisis and price hikes for the masses. People are fed up in seeing the trillions of €uros and Dollars America and Europe are giving to Ukraine and to maintain wars in the Middle East, when their own people in Europe or the UK sometimes have to switch off the heating as they cannot afford to buy food and pay the rising electric or gas bills (like in the UK). Not to mention the high crime rate often involving violent migrants that are openly allowed to enter and roam all over. And they usually have full health care, lodging, pocket money, all paid by the tax payer. No need to write a novel, everyone knows what's going on. More and more people all over Europe, (and in America) are fed up with the current American or European union governance and sick of the meddling from America. At the end of the day, more and more moderate people are turning to vote far right as they are just fed up with the current policies of european (or American) governance, that punish mainly the middle classes. People in general. no matter from where they come from are mostly decent and honest. It's the politicians all over who are a bunch of corrupt and greedy and who are destroying their countries and dragging the rest of the world into their issues. So the far right still has a bright future. Just a quick word of the alleged "irish neo nazis".....I would be more scared of the Ukrainian "neo nazis" that will soon freely roam all over and spread their hate in the west.

Just for fun, I often take photos of the food from the menu with the prices. Then check the tab. Quite often the total was wrong and of course by overcharging. When challenged, they either say "solly" or invent some excuse that the prices changed but not yet time to print new menu. This kind of cheaing occured very often in Hua Hin restaurants and once or twice in Bangkok. Check it for yourself unless you like to be conned of course.
