It's an incredibly important symbolic target and when Ukraine blows it up it will send the strongest possible message to the Russian people that Putin's darling bridge is over and it won't be long until Putin is over too. Don't discount such morale type of things in wars. Also of course the end of the bridge will encourage Z Russian fascist civliams to flee Crimea and discourage new ones from coming. Yes Ukraine can take back Crimea and they should because that's a key element to repelling the barbaric genocidal Russian invaders.

Trump picks J.D. Vance as running mate for VP at Republican convention
Jingthing replied to webfact's topic in World News
The more I learn about J.D. Vance the more I realize what a horrible pick he is both for Trump as far as helping him get elected and for the world if he does. The first impression was wrong. There is still hope to stop the anti democracy maga fascists. -

How good can a VP pick be when that pick is wildly celebrated in enemy capitol Moscow? Vance is like Marjorie Taylor Greene without the Jewish space lasers baggage. -
Biden Weighs Supreme Court Reforms Amid Rising Controversies
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Now its reported house leader Jeffries and senate leader Schumer have spoken to Biden and warned him that it looks like his running would mean losing all of congress. Also reported an unnamed "someone personally close to Biden" is now advising withdrawal. Making no predictions BUT ... -
Aftermath of the Trump Assassination Attempt Staring into the Abyss

Not accepting his loss in the last election logically should make him ineligible for running for dog catcher. You're either for American democracy or you're not. Trump and his fans are not. -
Aftermath of the Trump Assassination Attempt Staring into the Abyss

I'm not running for president and if you don't acknowledge that the maga fascist movement is a violent anti democracy / pro insurrectionist movement you are simply misinformed. Yes it's a fact he was a registered republican. There are also multiple witnesses saying he was a right winger, and of course deeply into the right wing side on gun issues. The totally disgusting republicans blaming Biden for the assassination attempt or Trump's son saying "THEY" tried to murder his father (meaning democrats) are the ones to condemn here, not people correctly pointing out that the maga movement / Project 2025 / Loved in Russia JD Vance, etc. are OBJECTIVELY direct threats to American democracy. As far as the shooter I think the most likely motivation was not political. He was a deeply disturbed young man who had suffered with being bullied and this was a way for him to go out as a famous person with a literal bang. There is another less likely but possible motivation. The NOTORIOUS Alex Jones had broadcast that the way for the right wing extremists to win (he is a leader of the wackiest faction of them) is for Trump to be killed and then as retribution the right wingers to start assassinating democrats wholesale. Totally insane idea from Jones, treasonous idea from Jones, but this was a disturbed RIGHT WING GUN NUT young man and it is possible that could have been his motivation. -
Well I can understand your POV as a non-American. You made your bed, suckers, now lie in it.

Pretty clearly a shameless cut and paste from some kind of vile Q source.

Biden Weighs Supreme Court Reforms Amid Rising Controversies

I think Biden's love of Amtrak is charming. A lost cause but charming because Americans are so insanely married to car culture. Politicians say a lot of things before they say something entirely opposite. Look at what Moscow's darling JD Vance used to say about Trump. -
Biden Weighs Supreme Court Reforms Amid Rising Controversies

In a rare case, you could be on to something. I assume the Covid is real but so is Adam Schiff favored to become a California senator and close ally of Nancy Pelosi's public call for Biden to withdrawal from the nomination. Schiff doing that is a big deal. Biden can't drop out too soon after the assassination attempt because the optics of dropping out being related to that would be very bad. He also won't do it before the end of the republican convention. But it does seem at this moment anyway, that what seemed like Biden holding stubbornly firm could well be slipping away. Yes if he does, for better or worse, we'll probably be stuck with Harris. But Harris with a decent VP instead of Trump's VP pick which was celebrated in the enemy capitol Moscow with glee, puts the democrats on at least an even chance to stop the maga fascist takeover. -

Supreme court reform and an amendment to counter what SCOTUS did to make presidents all powerful monarchs are both great issues going forward for democracy, Biden or not.- 41 replies

Traveling to places where homosexuality is illegal: a guide (advocate.com) I'm sure many of you have travelled to places with anti gay laws including being criminalized. I certainly have. You may have (or probably have) broken the laws there as well. It wouldn't be prudent for me to comment further on that. But, there are other very good reasons to travel to countries other than the gay aspect. However, if you're travelling with a boyfriend or same sex spouse, it's a real sticky wicket and better not book a one bed room. I wouldn't travel to any country with the death penalty for gay stuff but on the other hand I had a very unpleasant experience with homophobia in a country with OK laws. Namely in Mexico, namely in Puerto Vallarta a very gay popular resort but at a very wrong hotel. So what are your experiences and feelings on this issue?

Sometimes you just want to indulge in a short entertainment. Instead of movie or binging a mini series, a short film, or two or three. Youtube is a great source for LGBTQ content short films. The quality varies of course. If it's crap you can just switch it off. But for short films, it doesn't stop at youtube. Not everything is on youtube. Some of the best ones aren't on youtube. So where to go? Shhh: gay-torrents Also compilations of festival stuff. An example of a fairly decent one:
