The reason I would renew my passport is because the expiration date is approaching. All expats here need a valid passport whether they have imminent travel plans or not. Also if you have an annual extension coming up if you don't have a full year left on your passport your next extension will only be to the expiration date of the current passport so all the rest of the extension is lost and not transferable to the new passport. Well adding passport pages is no longer offered by the embassy. For my last passport renewal in Thailand this is what I did. Attended the Pattaya consular outreach (which is of course finished now) and handed in my passport renewal application, picture, and fee. When it was ready, I was emailed, and then I went to the embassy in Bangkok to pick it up (along with the old passport and embassy letter) at the intake window in front of the building. I liked that method very much. But that is the past. Cheers.

It was definitely not over a decade ago! I don't recall the exact year. I guess approximately six years ago. I am NOT really seeking advice on how to renew passports. Mine isn't up now. No point in bothering as the process can change anyway. In case you missed it. I started this topic to share the news that there is at least one local visa agent offering assistance to US expats in the process. I never said everyone needs it or if it would be a wise purchase for those that use it. Just that the help for pay is available. Some people pay just for hand holding for a lot of processes here. It's their choice either way.

I reckon some of you have dealings with the visa agency in question. Perhaps one of you can collect this information about the U.S. passport renewal service offer. Such as: The Fee What exactly are all the steps in the process compared to do it yourself Passports mailed to embassy and back or by courier? What does the client gain over do it yourself other than having the documents proofread and perhaps more security in the back and forths? Delivery to home by office or do you need to pick it up? Is transferring visa from old to new passport at the immigration office an included option in the package Any other details of interest

Agree about the embassy. Don't agree about enititlement programs. They are very, very popular for good reason. I don't recall meeting a social security pensioner here sending back their checks. Do they take debit cards?

When should that be expected if they didn't get the first one back?

It would have been good. However I am not a reporter and I don’t need renewal for some years. So I was not going to call him. I did what I was comfortable doing that I think will be of interest to some people. Let people know that there is at least one agent in town offering a service relating to helping people with the passport renewall process. If someone does call or use the service you are most welcome to post here about it.

I think the Pattaya service was stopped long before Covid Again budget cuts. Pattaya people can get to Bangkok if they need to much easier than Phuket people. I don't expect Pattaya service to ever be restored.

I have no idea what you're talking about There is the usual way see the US embassy website. Or of you want more of a hand holding service you may inquire at the agent I mentioned, ask them what exactly they will do for you, and then decide if what they offer is worth the fee to you or not.

I think it was stopped because of budget cuts.

When the US consular staff used to visit Pattaya I think it was twice a year a large hall was filled all day. Of course most people were there for the income statements affidavits which they stopped doing. Also passport applications and other business of course. It was a great convenience and much appreciated by expats here. No doubt without the income statements it would be much less demand. Trolling insults IGNORED.

I was aware for a long time that there is at least one agency that will assist UK nationals with passport renewals. But I never heard of such a service for USA nationals. Yes I know you can do it yourself, but what if you want a service to do it, that would not involve worrying about dealing with the mailing and receiving yourself or going to Bangkok (multiple times)? So I thought some people might be interested. My passport is OK for now but it's nice to know there is help available when the time comes. My last renewal was done first in Pattaya when embassy staff visited occasionally but they stopped doing that long ago. There really is no point posting that nobody NEEDS this service.
