  1. The universities usually have water testing facilities, failing that, the Amphur will know of somewhere, perhaps take a sample to them and get it tested, it will be cheap enough.
  2. I agree completely, I don't think there is any relationship between SET performance and the delay to the digital wallet scheme. Equity markets are a forward view of how markets think the economy will perform in the future. The potential for a buoyant tourism market is real so that's positive, the digital wallet only ever had the potential to create debt so that is not. And since Thailand is dependent on exports which in turn are dependent on overseas markets and have not performed well at all this year, the real reason for non-performance of the SET is more likely to exports and an overly strong dollar.
  3. Every time I cut my grass, I ask myself if 100K or 200k lawnmowers would do the job any better than my 18k jobbie, the answer is always no. Really, it's all about looking after what ever you get and servicing it regularly. BTW totally agree about the exercise.
  4. You have a sinus issue, there is a sinus chamber above the eye, go to Sriphat and see a good ENT doctor.
  5. I have a 10 year old Briggs and Stratton that I bought new, I change the oil every couple of months and it's still going fine. Many of the body parts have fallen off or been replaced, it's surprising what extra things they put on mowers that really aren't essential. I get replacement Briggs and Stratton engine parts from a local shop in Chiang Mai but some are available on Lazada also. Another shop carries bushing and clips for the body of the mower which are easy to fit. The biggest problem was the frame or body of the mower which I had to brace and strengthen, now that I have it's also fine. It really comes down to the engine and the availability of parts, Honda and B&S are not a problem but lesser known makes will be. If/When I rebuy I'll either go with a genuine Honda mower (there's only one model in Thailand) or anything with a genuine B&S engine. There's an outfit in Bangkok called VB Engines that is the main B&S importer, you may want to look at what they have, their Raptor range looks very good and is sensibly priced. https://www.raptertool.com/
  6. Add more teflon tape, six turns isn't nearly enough, pack the stuff in there until it makes a seal..
  7. A whole page of reading two testosterone fueled pensioners squaring up to each other, how sad is that.
  8. Our niece is at uni at Phitsanulok. She uses a lap top and her phone but spends hours in the library where she finds the reading material and also works. Times have changed, people no longer carry around huge satchels of books.
  9. A CBC test at CM Outreach is 150 baht, that's just blood only, if you are being charged 2200 baht for a CBC you are being raped. A complete list of AMS lab test costs is here:
  10. Here's some costs from an outstanding dental clinic in CM. https://www.indenteclinic.com/en/fee
  11. Why am I not surprised. But thanks for the report, useful to know. I'm doing my visa extension currently, this year, CM Immi wants my Fixed Deposit passbook showing the 400k, a letter from the bank confirming the 400k and account number, and a statement for the past three months showing the money in that Fixed Deposit wasn't secretly removed and replaced during that three months. Talk about belt and braces and an elastic waste band!
  12. Exactly the same thing happened in Chiang Mai. Government wanted to introduce bus routes and the red car drivers protested. The red cars one.
  13. It depends on the water in the well. If it's heavily contaminated with iron, running it through a sand filter first will help a lot. That doesn't preclude you also running it through a charcoal filter after the sand filter and/or using an undersink filter to eliminate all contaminates. It really depends on the well depth, how much space you have to erect a sand filter, the quality of the well water and, how clean you want the water from the tap.
  14. 60k International flight arrivals in all of 2022, at AOT airports alone, yielded 6 mill passengers. This year, the number is 136k, a 134% increase and these numbers are only through September. These stats don't include non AOT airports, nor the huge numbers of Malays who cross the land border and who historically supported the tourist trade during covid times. https://investor.airportthai.co.th/transport.html
  15. Everyone said that 24 million tourists this year was impossible, now it looks very likely. The big problem though is not tourism but exports, which whilst they increased YoY in September, have been down for most of the year. The ME is a big market for Thai auto exports, especially pickups, if the ME blows up, it will damage exports significantly. And lets not forget, next year is an El Nino year and droughts are expected, the impact on agriculture could be significant.
  16. Have you done any blood tests? Maybe, a CBC (complete blood count) will be helpful to see if your body is fighting an infection somewhere, that may yield some clues. You can get a CBC done on a walk in basis at the CMU Outreach Clinic at Mee Chok Plaza, costs about 150 baht, results next day (via email if you wish). Another option is to ask moderator @Sheryl for some tips/pointers.
  17. Gastroscopy enters via the mouth and examines the upper GI tract but stops at the start of the small intestine. The Colonoscopy enters via the anus and examines the entire large bowel or colon. Often the two tests are done in conjunction so as to examine the entire digestive system.
  18. The capsule takes pictures from the mouth to the anus, over 60,000 of them. It's most important function is to diagnose problems in the small intestines, especially blockages or delays in food transit. https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/capsule-endoscopy/about/pac-20393366
  19. Assuming you're talking about domicile versus tax residency: "A domicile is not a raincoat that can be put on and discarded at will". Lord Denning, Master of the Rolls. In other words, Denning thought that you cannot change your domicile whilst still alive. "Domicile is more long-term and refers to where you consider you have your permanent home over the course of your life", which of course can't be known until after you have died.
  20. The capsule endoscopy for the small bowel is a simple affair that produces good results, why would you want an alternative?
  21. Lady! You're really strange, I'm going to figure out how to block your posts. If you don't have an rebuttal to the subject posted, why even respond! Goodbye
  22. Only you will know what you are talking about here but I'm happy that somebody does! If you wish to debate Thai Consumer Lending and Household Debt levels, I'll try to engage with you, if you don't, that's fine too. But if you want to personalise these discussions, I have no interest in anything you have to say, I imagine your next post will tell me which it is going to be. Now, I gave you a simple and easy to understand example to support what I wrote and I've demonstrated how CL as percentage of GDP changes, based on changes to GDP levels and based on volatile exchange rates. You on the other hand have posted a link and screen shot showing data that can't possibly be known, data that increases almost uniformly YoY......hint, lending amounts do not behave that way YoY! I've also posted a link to SCB confirming what I wrote and that CL's as a percentage of GDP do indeed change, based on the rise and fall of GDP. Finally, I've also provided commentary from BOT demonstrating that even they do not understand the full extent of Consumer Debt and they keep adding to it, as new types of consumer debt are discovered.
  23. The Loi Kroh Clinic has a very good reputation and has for many years, Dr Tawatchai has excellent English nd is very highly regarded. https://www.facebook.com/loikrohclinic
