Picture from responders. An incident occurred on 17 January, when an elderly man was struck and killed by a local train in Ronnaphibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The victim, identified as 68-year-old Udon, from the nearby Kwan Chum sub-district, was found in a devastating condition after being run over by the Yala-Nakhon Si Thammarat local train (train number 456). Emergency responders from the Ronnaphibun Police Station, along with medical staff and rescue teams from the Taiteck Siang Tsing Foundation, arrived at the scene, where they discovered human body parts scattered along the railway tracks for sone distance. The victim's remains were subsequently collected and identified as Udon, a local resident who was known to frequently walk along the railway tracks. Initial investigations revealed that Udon, who had some hearing difficulties, had been walking on the railway tracks after running errands in the village. Witnesses reported that he likely turned his back to the approaching train, unaware of its proximity due to his hearing impairment. The train driver was unable to stop in time, resulting in the fatal collision. The train's crew immediately informed the station master, who notified the authorities. The train continued on its route after the incident, and the driver and station staff will provide statements to the police for further investigation, as per the standard procedure for incidents involving trains. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident, but it serves as a tragic reminder of the risks associated with walking along railway tracks. -- 2025-01-18

Picture courtesy of Sattahip police. Police in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, have announced on January 17, the arrest of a 35-year-old man in possession of 58,000 methamphetamine pills during a raid at a residence in Plutaluang Subdistrict. The operation, led by Police Colonel Thanaphon Klinkasorn, superintendent of the Sattahip Police Station, alongside Deputy Superintendent Suvichak Rueangnuamdee and Investigation Inspector Akkarachai Wongkhamsom, resulted in the capture of Mr. Weeradech Sakwilaiporn, also known as “Sam.” Acting on a tip-off from an informant, police conducted a search of the property at house number 100/82 in Moo 2, uncovering the large haul of methamphetamine pills. The suspect was immediately taken into custody for questioning and legal proceedings. During the interrogation, Mr. Weeradech revealed that the drugs belonged to an individual identified as “Nut,” who had temporarily stored the methamphetamine at the house and promised to collect it later. Authorities believe this is the same “Nut” connected to a high-profile case involving the abduction of a Chinese businessman by a gang linked to rogue police officers in Bangkok. Further investigations revealed that the drugs were smuggled into Thailand from a neighbouring country, Laos. According to Mr. Weeradech, the latest shipment consisted of approximately 300,000 pills, some of which had already been distributed before his arrest. Police are continuing their investigation into the wider drug network and any connections to other criminal activities. This significant drug seizure highlights the ongoing battle against narcotics in Thailand and the cross-border nature of the drug trade. -- 2025-01-18

A incident occurred when a motorcyclist riding against traffic was struck and thrown under a car on Highway 304 in Prachinburi Province, leading to his death after being dragged approximately 40 metres.. At around 19:00 on January 16, rescue workers from the Sajja Phutthatham Kabinburi Foundation received a report of a traffic collision involving a motorcyclist trapped under a car on the Nong Khla Bridge in Lat Takhian Subdistrict, Kabin Buri District. Emergency responders rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a Yamaha motorcycle with Nakhon Nayok license plates lying on the road after a collision. The other vehicle involved was a bronze Nissan car with Bangkok license plates. The motorcyclist, a male, was found lifeless under the car, his body severely mangled and dragged approximately 40 meters from the initial collision site. Rescue workers used specialised tools to lift the car and recover the body. Ms. Kasama the car driver, tearfully explained that she had been driving on Highway 304 toward Kabin Buri when the crash occurred. “It happened in a flash. I couldn’t see anything,” she said in distress. Ms. Jib an eyewitness, provided additional details. She stated that she saw the car traveling normally in front of her when it collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was thrown into the path of the car and became trapped underneath. Ms. Jib used her hazard lights to signal the car driver and overtook the car, prompting the driver to stop by the roadside. Upon inspection, they discovered the motorcyclist’s body under the vehicle. Picture from responders. An incident occurred in Samut Prakan early morning on January 17, when a 72-year-old father fatally stabbed his son during a violent altercation. The father claimed he acted in self-defence after his son attacked him over a demand for money to purchase drugs and alcohol. At 02:30 officers from Bang Pu Police Station were alerted to a fatal stabbing at a townhouse in a residential area in Phraeksa Mai, Mueang District, Samut Prakan. Police, along with forensic experts and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, arrived at the scene to investigate. Inside the house, they discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Parinya, aged 42, lying in a pool of blood in the ground-floor living room. He had sustained seven stab wounds to his chest, side, and arms. Nearby, the suspect, Mr. Prakob, the victim's father, sat waiting to surrender to the authorities. According to Mr. Pirom Kaewsamsri, a rescue worker who responded to the scene, the victim's mother ran out of the house in tears, pleading for help just as rescue teams arrived. She recounted that the dispute began when her son demanded money from his father to buy methamphetamine and alcohol. When his father refused, citing a lack of funds, the son became enraged and physically assaulted him, choking him violently. Fearing for his life, the father grabbed a nearby fruit knife and repeatedly stabbed his son in self-defence. The victim's mother, too frightened to intervene during the altercation, confirmed that her son had a history of demanding money from his father and would often become aggressive when denied. Police also noted that Mr. Prakob sustained minor injuries to his arm during the struggle. He was taken into custody for questioning at Bang Pu Police Station and has been initially charged with intentional manslaughter. The victim's body has been sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. Further investigations are underway to gather more details surrounding the incident. -- 2025-01-18

A foreign man has been arrested after allegedly threatening his Thai wife and child with a firearm and forcing them into a vehicle. The woman, who attempted to escape, was rescued with the help of a local witness and emergency responders. At approximately 11:00 on January 17, 38-year-old Kiratikarn, from Pato District, Chumphon, was driving with 39-year-old Suphasara when they noticed a Ford 4-door vehicle driving ahead of them. As they followed, they observed the passenger door of the vehicle open, and a woman was seen trying to jump out of the moving car. Personal belongings were also falling from the vehicle, suggesting an altercation. The witness, concerned for the woman’s safety, began recording a video as evidence and alerted emergency services. They continued following the vehicle, and upon closer inspection, the driver was identified as a foreign man, who gestured threateningly with what looked like a gun in his hand. The foreign man then attempted to flee, driving erratically toward the direction of Laung Takor in the Thung Tako District. The witness also observed a child inside the car. UPDATE Police Continues to Investigate Burglary at Chinese Home in Bang Lamung Picture from responders. Police are continuing the investigation to solve a high-profile burglary at a property in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, where an estimated 100 million baht worth of valuables were stolen. The suspects targeted a large safe containing luxury watches, leaving behind significant damage. The incident occurred at a residence in a housing estate in Huai Yai subdistrict. The property belongs to a Chinese businessman who has not visited Thailand for over eight years. The safe, which was forcibly opened, was brought into the house by the owner when the property was purchased. At noon on January 17, local police, led by Police Colonel Atthapol Itthayophasakul, along with forensic experts, revisited the crime scene to gather further evidence. The safe, measuring 1 metre wide, 1.5 metres high, and weighing 250 kilograms, had been embedded in concrete and reinforced with thick steel. It was pried open using hammers and crowbars, leaving debris and dust scattered throughout the room. Investigators also examined eight wooden watch boxes, each capable of holding ten watches, and an empty Rolex box, which were left behind. The property was being occupied by Mr. Yu Chao Zhao, a 43-year-old Chinese national, who told police he had been living there for four months. He claimed to have been invited by a friend to stay and look after the house. Mr. Zhao stated that he was unaware of the safe’s contents and denied any involvement in the burglary. Police revealed that the house is jointly owned by a Chinese individual, identified only as Mr. Wang Liang Chen, and a Thai partner. Mr. Wang brought the safe to the property eight years ago while running a tour company in Thailand. However, legal issues in China have prevented him from returning to Thailand since then. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to determine how and when the suspects gained access to the property. Initial findings suggest the burglary was carefully planned, with the intruders specifically targeting the safe. The stolen items, primarily luxury watches, are valued at over 100 million baht. However, police are awaiting verification of these claims as the property’s original owner has not yet provided supporting evidence. Investigators believe the suspects had knowledge of the safe’s presence and may have acted on information about its potential contents. Police are continuing to follow leads and have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. -- 2025-01-17

Picture courtesy of SiamChon. A daring burglary took place during the evening of January 15, when a thief broke into a residence in the Huai Yai area of Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, and looted high-end watches worth over 100 million baht from a safe. The crime came to light at approximately 01:30 when Pol. Lt. Navin Sunthuanik, Deputy Inspector of Huai Yai Police Station, received a report of a burglary in a village in Moo 11, Huai Yai Subdistrict. Officers and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene immediately. Upon arrival, investigators examined the two-storey house, valued at an estimated 8 million baht, situated on an 80-square-wah plot. In a second-floor room, they found a black safe, 1.5 meters high and 1 meter wide, forcibly opened with a sledgehammer and a crowbar. The back panel of the safe was severely damaged. Wooden watch boxes capable of holding up to 10 watches each were found scattered across the room, but no watches remained. Further inspection revealed that a rear window of the house had been forced open, presumably the point of entry for the intruder. Forensic experts collected fingerprints and other evidence from the scene to aid in identifying the suspect. The house’s caretaker, Mr. Youchao Cho, 43, a Chinese national, provided a statement to police in a distressed state. Mr. Cho explained that he was looking after the property on behalf of his friend, Mr. Wang Liang Chen, 39, a Chinese businessman and owner of the house, who is currently in China dealing with legal issues. Mr. Chen operates a tourism company in Thailand but has been unable to return to the country. Mr. Cho revealed that he and his family had left the house between 15:00 and 21:00 on January 15 to run errands. Upon their return, they discovered the burglary. The rear window had been pried open, and the safe was damaged. While Mr. Cho was unaware of the safe’s contents, initial information from Mr. Chen confirmed that the safe contained luxury watches from prestigious brands, valued at over 100 million baht. The thief took all the watches, leaving only the empty boxes. Mr. Somboon 56, a business partner of Mr. Chen, corroborated the caretaker’s statement. He added that the property’s value and its contents underscored the severity of the crime. Police investigators, led by Pol. Col. Chatree Suksiri, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, revisited the crime scene on the afternoon of January 16, for further examination. CCTV footage from the house is being reviewed to identify potential suspects. Mr. Cho has been brought in for further questioning, while authorities are in contact with Mr. Chen to verify the total value of the stolen items. A security guard for the village informed reporters that the area is predominantly owned by Chinese nationals, with properties ranging in value from 7 million baht for single-storey homes to over 10 million baht for two-storey houses with swimming pools. He speculated that the thief might have entered the property by climbing the rear fence, which backs onto a forested area. Police continue to gather evidence to track down the perpetrator. -- 2025-01-17
