Picture courtesy of Matichon An IT teacher has admitted to fabricating a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people from a prestigious international school in Bangkok. The incident caused widespread panic and a massive police response. On December 9, at 11:25, Pol. Col. Surapong Putkao, Superintendent of Pravet Police Station, received a report from Mr. Jesada, an IT teacher at the school located on Krungthep Kreetha Road in Thap Chang, Saphan Sung district. Mr. Jesada claimed to have received an email in English threatening to bomb the school. Concerned for the safety of students and staff, he immediately alerted the police. Authorities, including Bangkok Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom and multiple high-ranking officers, swiftly responded. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, police dogs, and school staff collaborated to inspect the premises. After thorough checks using bomb-detection equipment, no explosive devices or suspicious items were found. By 14:30, the school had safely evacuated approximately 970 students, and the area was declared secure. Later, investigators summoned Mr. Jesada for further questioning. Under pressure, he admitted to sending the email himself. He confessed that he fabricated the threat out of anger and fear of losing his job after a dispute with the school. He also revealed that he was responsible for the disappearance of IT equipment, including 32 computers and iPads under his care. The school’s director, Mr. Christopher, confirmed the events and acknowledged the missing equipment. The school administration is considering disciplinary actions against Mr. Jesada, while the police have taken him into custody for filing a false report. -- 2024-12-11

The crash left nine individuals injured, with two of them trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue teams from the Phachi Rescue Unit and the Phutthaisawan Foundation promptly arrived at the scene. The pickup which was carrying many of the passengers sat on the rear bed, when the driver lost control and veered off the road to the left at speed. The driver then tried to correct the direction of travel, causing the truck to roll over and throw the rear passengers out and across the road. The driver and rear seat passenger behind him, were pinned by the crushed dash board and roof. Rescuers used specialised cutting equipment to successfully free them. All the victims were provided with initial medical care, before all nine injured individuals were transported to Phachi Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the incident falls under the jurisdiction of Phachi Police Station, which has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. 73-Year-Old Woman Drowns While Collecting Shellfish and Fish in Ratchaburi River A incident occurred in Ratchaburi Province when a 73-year-old woman drowned while gathering shellfish and fish in the Mae Klong River. Picture from responders. A incident occurred in Ratchaburi Province when a 73-year-old woman drowned while gathering shellfish and fish in the Mae Klong River. At 14:00 on December 10, Pol. Lt. Uthen Amnuay, an investigator at the Photharam Police Station, received a report of a body found floating in the Mae Klong River near the Sroi Fa Bridge in Klong Takot Subdistrict. He notified Pol. Col. Chatchanan Narawutporn, the Photharam Police Chief, before proceeding to the scene with investigators, patrol units, medical examiners from Photharam Hospital, and Sawang Ratchaburi rescue personnel. At the site, rescue workers retrieved the body of an elderly woman lying face down in the river. She was wearing a pink shirt and black shorts, with a fishing net containing one fish and two shellfish around her neck. Initial medical examination found no external injuries, and the woman was estimated to have been dead for 1–2 hours. Mr. Arthit 28, who discovered the body, said he had stopped his car on the Sroi Fa Bridge after noticing fish swimming near the surface. Upon looking closer, he spotted the body and immediately called the authorities. The deceased was later identified by her relatives as Mrs. Sanong 73, from Klong Takot Subdistrict. Her husband, Mr. Prathom explained that the couple had gone to the Mae Klong River earlier that day to collect shellfish and fish for their evening meal. While Mrs. Sanong waded into the river, Mr. Prathom stayed on the bank as he was afraid of drowning. He eventually returned home, leaving Mrs. Sanong to continue fishing alone. When she did not return by the afternoon, he and other family members began searching for her, only to learn she had drowned. According to Mr. Prathom, Mrs. Sanong had a history of epilepsy, which may have contributed to the incident. Investigators suspect she might have fallen into a submerged hole or suffered a fainting spell, causing her to drown. The body has been sent to the Ratchaburi Forensic Institute for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. -- 2024-12-11

At the site, approximately 300 metres from Sattahip Technical College, the body of 18-year-old Mr. Ekachai Sattawichayapich was discovered in a pool of blood. His face was severely crushed, and his skull fractured. He was wearing a vocational student uniform and was pinned beneath his pink-and-white Yamaha Scoopy motorcycle, which was heavily damaged from the collision. The trailer truck, an Isuzu 10-wheel vehicle with license plate from Chonburi, was parked along the shoulder of the road. Its rear trailer (license plate also fromChonburi) had been struck by the motorcycle. The driver, Mr. Chakkrit Kaewprasarn, 30, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. As officials prepared to transfer Mr. Ekachai's body to Sattahip KM 10 Hospital for an autopsy, his grieving mother and family arrived at the scene. Overcome with emotion, his mother embraced her son's lifeless body, calling out to him to wake up. Ms. Samranjit Phumee, Deputy Director of Student Affairs at Sattahip Technical College, who arrived at the scene after being informed of the incident, revealed that Mr. Ekachai was a first- year electrical engineering student. He had been on his way to a workplace interview for his internship when the accident occurred. Mr. Chakkrit, the truck driver, explained that he had parked his truck alongside several others while delivering asphalt for a road construction project about 200 metres away. Moments later, someone informed him that a motorcycle had collided with the rear of his trailer. He immediately called for emergency assistance, but the victim had already succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident further by reviewing nearby CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the exact cause and ensure appropriate legal action is taken. -- 2024-12-11

The man, identified as Mr. Suchart asked in the letter that any winnings from 10 lottery tickets in his possession be used to clear his debts. The incident occurred in Nong Tamlueng Subdistrict, where police investigator Pol. Lt. Somsak Jai-la and rescue personnel from the Thammarasmimanirat Foundation were called to the scene. Upon arrival, the man's body was found hanging near a tree. His remains were recovered and sent to Phan Thong Hospital for an autopsy. The man's letter expressed his love and concern for his family, particularly his children. It read: "Take care of the children. I am no longer here. I love you and feel sorry for you. Please raise the children to be responsible adults so that their mother can rest easy. I have 10 government lottery tickets; if any win the grand prize, please use the money to settle all debts. Divide the rest-half for your mother and half for your brother. Please don't abandon your siblings. You are your father's treasure." The man's wife revealed that he had been under immense stress due to financial difficulties. He owed money to a relative who had come to collect 10,000 baht that day. "My husband asked me to find 10,000 baht, but I told him we didn't have that kind of money," she explained. "I told him to find a solution himself because every time there's a problem, he always relies on me to fix it. I think that must have made him even more stressed, leading to this tragic decision." Police plan to conduct further interviews with the family to determine the precise circumstances leading to the man's death. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai) or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). Picture from responders. An incident unfolded in Sattahip, Chonburi, when a 14-year- old boy of Thai-Australian descent was fatally stabbed in the back, collapsing and dying in front of a local store. The boy's devastated mother revealed that her son had mentioned being involved in a conflict with a senior student prior to his death. The fatal stabbing occurred around 20:30 on December 10, Police Sub-Lieutenant Santichon Humart, investigator at Sattahip Police Station, was notified of the incident outside a store in the Montra Garden Home housing estate, Moo 10, Bang Saray Sub-district. Authorities, including Police Colonel Thanapol Klinkasorn, Deputy Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Suwijak Rueangnuamdee, and the investigative team, rushed to the scene with rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanathamsathan Foundation. At the scene, the victim's body was found lying on the store's steps in a pool of blood. He was wearing a black T-shirt and elephant-patterned shorts. A sharp knife was embedded in his back, nearly piercing through to his chest. The knife's broken black handle was discovered nearby. The boy's mother and older sister stood at the scene, overwhelmed with grief. The victim's mother recounted that her son had been playing games on his phone with friends earlier in the evening. He mentioned having a disagreement with a senior student from his private school, where he was in Mathayom 1 and the other boy was in Mathayom 2. She was unaware when her son left their home for the store. Shortly after, she was informed of his death. A security guard at the entrance to the village stated that the boy had left the estate alone around 20.00. Approximately 20 minutes later, the boy was seen at the store, clutching his back and seeking help. He collapsed on the steps of the store and succumbed to his injuries before he could speak. Despite immediate efforts to call for rescue assistance, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have identified a possible suspect-a senior student mentioned by the victim-family and believe the incident may have stemmed from their earlier dispute. Efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect are ongoing, with authorities expressing confidence in making an arrest soon. The victim's body has been sent for autopsy, and police continue to gather evidence. Officials have pledged to bring the perpetrator to justice, ensuring closure for the grieving family. -- 2024-12-11

Spot the difference: Fire Safety Equipment Purpose: Designed to prevent fires, detect fires early, and ensure safe evacuation. Function: Helps minimize the risk of fire or alerts people to the presence of fire so they can act quickly. Firefighting Equipment Purpose: Used to control or extinguish fires once they have started. Function: Actively combats fires to stop them from spreading and to reduce damage. I posted the research into ICEV an EV fires, but you just ignore the real research.so I will post again. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10694-023-01473-w It is concluded that a fire in the two types of vehicles is different but have similarities. A fuel spill fire associated with an ICEV develops very rapidly, peaks high but burns out fast, whilst a fire starting in the battery pack of a BEV develops slower, is not as large but burns longer. The scenario of the fire in other combustibles, such as the tires, exterior and undercarriage plastic parts and inside the passenger compartment is similar.
-
Do you mean firefighting equipment, not fire safety equipment, but then I doubt you understand the difference. The same firefighting equipment is required for all fires, nothing different, which I have explained previously. So if the ban was based on inadequate firefighting provisions, then all vehicles would be banned. Why the company made the decision has not been released, so it is pointless guessing. It is certainly not because of any new Thai regulations, or it would apply to all companies and ferries.
-
Again showing your serious lack of understanding on the subject. It is about the risk EVs pose to ferries. When I educate and improve my knowledge and understanding I look to professional bodies, read the data and research and not base my thinking on a YouTube video. Here is some more real information, which I sure you will again fail to read and understand. Uk guidance on EVs on ferries. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/mgn-653-m-amendment-1-electric-vehicles-onboard-passenger-roll-onroll-off-ro-ro-ferries/mgn-653-m-amendment-1-electric-vehicles-onboard-passenger-roll-onroll-off-ro-ro-ferries--2 Canadian government guidance https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine-transportation/marine-safety/ship-safety-bulletins/guidelines-safely-transport-electric-vehicles-canadian-ferries-ssb-no-04-2024 Articles on the risks. Royal Institution of Naval Architects https://rina.org.uk/publications/the-naval-architect/ferry-companies-grapple-with-rising-threat-of-ev-fires/ The Confederation of Fire Protection Association Europe CFPA Europe - https://cfpa-e.eu/new-knowledge-about-battery-fires-in-electric-cars-on-ferries/ Try to educate yourself, then you would stop embarrassing yourself with your lack of knowledge and understanding. You also seem to not understand that Raja Ferries is a company, not a single boat and currently operates a fleet of 14 vessels.
-
I know what the topic is about, it may have avoided your notice, but it was my OP. I posted research about the effects on EV fires on boats, real facts. All you have done is try to deflect, as you believe only your unqualified opinion is right. You clearly have little understanding of the subject, are unable or unwilling to look at real research, by professional bodies involved in the fire and research industry and really believe that a YouTube backs up your tunnel vision of reality. it is pointless trying to debate with someone that when presented with the facts, chooses not to read them and clearly fails to understand their own limitations when trying to discuss technical issues.
-
So funny I post real research from The RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, the top European research lab for everything about fire, plus guidance supported and endorsed by NFPA and CTIF. RISE - RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Through international collaboration with industry, academia and the public sector, we ensure business competitiveness and contribute to a sustainable society. NFPA - Known as the trusted source of safety knowledge, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has been helping to solve some of the planet’s toughest safety problems for more than 125 years. To remain relevant for over a century as a knowledge and information organization, we’ve continually evolved our scope of expertise—from fire prevention, wildfire preparedness, and electrical safety to hazardous materials, community risk reduction, and public safety. CTIF - The International Association of Fire & Rescue Services Do you really think posting a YouTube video matches that?
-
So again total deflection. You fail to explain where the professional research and guidance is wrong or not accurate. The information I posted was on EV fires data, research and latest guidelines, has nothing to do with this vessel, unless you are you trying to imply that the vessel should not be used for any form of transport, as it has inadequate fire fighting equipment? You do understand that the same fire fighting equipment would be used on any fire, ICEV, CNG, fittings, furniture, stock, etc. I understand that you will find the research difficult to understand.
-
I posted real and up to date information on the burn rates, heat release from EV fires and latest guidance on how responders deal with EV fires. It has nothing to do with “on this vessel” Maybe try reading the links I posted, which are real facts and not just believing only your opinion is the truth.
