Here is real research into car fires on ferries. Yes this looks at fixed fire drencher systems on enclosed decks, but the same outcomes are achievable using firefighting hose linked to a ships pumps, using water spray patterns, on open deck situations. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10694-023-01473-w It is concluded that a fire in the two types of vehicles is different but have similarities. A fuel spill fire associated with an ICEV develops very rapidly, peaks high but burns out fast, whilst a fire starting in the battery pack of a BEV develops slower, is not as large but burns longer. The scenario of the fire in other combustibles, such as the tires, exterior and undercarriage plastic parts and inside the passenger compartment is similar.

At approximately 00:35 on December 10, police authorities in Pattaya were alerted to an incident involving the fatal fall of a foreign national from a condominium on Pattaya Second Road, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Police Lieutenant Mana Sak Pholyiam of the Pattaya City Police Station, along with his investigative team and rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, quickly arrived at the scene following the report. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered the lifeless body of the victim, later identified as Mr. Tero Sakari Karppinen, a 52- year-old Finnish national. The body was found near the building, severely disfigured with broken bones and serious head trauma, presenting a horrifying sight for those present. Police officers and condominium security personnel cordoned off the area, strictly prohibiting photography or access to unauthorized individuals, including members of the media. Picture captured from CCTV The Royal Thai Navy has initiated an official inquiry after a group of sailors allegedly assaulted a man in Sattahip, leaving him with injuries that required 11 stitches. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over loud drinking behaviour. The Navy has affirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward violence and pledged to care for the injured party. At approximately 09:00 on December 9, Admiral Pasukree Wilairak, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, addressed the situation, confirming that the injured man had filed a complaint with the Sattahip Police Station. The victim accused on-duty guards from the Sattahip Naval Base of attacking him, resulting in a deep laceration on his forehead and multiple bruises on his body. Medical staff at Sattahip Hospital determined the injuries required 11 stitches. According to the Navy’s initial investigation, the incident occurred around 23:55 on December 8. Senior Petty Officer First Class Surayut Khunthongpan, 59, was on duty as assistant commander of the naval base guard post when he and two other guards encountered a group of young men drinking and causing a disturbance near the Apakorn Kiattiwong Hospital, an area under the Navy’s jurisdiction. While most of the group complied when asked to lower the noise, some individuals resisted and became confrontational, allegedly attempting to assault Petty Officer Surayut. A bystander intervened to de-escalate the situation, but a scuffle ensued, leaving both the resisting individuals and the intervening bystanders injured. The matter was subsequently reported to the police. Admiral Pasukree stated that the commander of Petty Officer Surayut’s unit has ordered the formation of a fact-finding committee to thoroughly investigate the incident. The Navy reiterated that it does not condone any form of violence and emphasised its commitment to supporting the injured individual during their recovery. -- 2024-12-10

BMW Driver in Fatal Crash Misses Mediation Appointment Again A woman driving a BMW car, who caused a crash that killed a mother and her two children in Chumphon province, failed to attend a second scheduled mediation session with prosecutors and the victims’ family. Full story:https://aseannow.com/topic/1345793-bmw-driver-in-fatal-crash-misses-mediation-appointment-again/ -
Picture from responders. A woman driving a BMW car, who caused a crash that killed a mother and her two children in Chumphon province, failed to attend a second scheduled mediation session with prosecutors and the victims’ family. The incident occurred on November 27, when Jirantanin Tangkhao, 30, was driving at high speed and rear-ended a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of the mother and her two children near a bridge in Tak Daet subdistrict, Muang district, Chumphon. Police charged her with multiple offenses, and she was released on bail pending further investigation. The case is being prepared for submission to the Chumphon Provincial Court. Initially, both parties were summoned to mediate at Muang Chumphon Police Station, but the driver failed to appear, citing illness. A new session was scheduled for December 9, at the Chumphon Office of Rights Protection and Legal Aid. However, she failed to show up again. At 13:30 on December 9, the prosecutor handling the case, Nattapong Boonthongkong, along with Deputy Superintendent Panin Choti and the victims’ family, including Prakrit Rattanapha, the husband and father of the deceased, waited at the mediation session. Despite extended delays, neither Jirantanin nor her representatives attended. Prakrit later reported that the prosecutor had explained the legal process for both criminal and civil cases. He also submitted a formal request for the prosecutor to issue another written invitation to Jirantanin, proposing December 25, 2024, at 13:00 as the next mediation date. The prosecutor assured that the letter would be sent by Thursday. “If she doesn’t attend again, it will only harm her case,” Prakrit said. Regarding the criminal case, Prakrit noted that prosecutors and police assured him the case would proceed promptly, with an expected court filing within three months. For the civil case, progress depends on the defendant’s cooperation. Prakrit stated that if the defendant continues to delay, legal measures would be pursued to prevent further prolongation. Nattapong added that the mediation process is separate from the criminal proceedings, which continue as police gather evidence. He emphasised that if the defendant fails to attend further mediation, the victims can still pursue compensation through legal means. “If she does not attend again, it doesn’t mean she will avoid responsibility. The case will move forward, and the criminal trial will include opportunities for mediation in court,” Nattapong explained. The case remains under investigation, with prosecutors and authorities aiming to ensure justice for the victims’ family.
