Pol. Lt. Kunatip Khuikammi, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Sattahip Police Station in Chonburi, received a report of a fire at approximately 19.55 on November 10, at the Jungle Moon Boutique Homestay Resort, located at 178/1 Moo 11, Bang Saray, Sattahip District, Chonburi. The officer coordinated with Mr. Yosawat Phuwaratlertkun, Mayor of Kled Kaew Subdistrict, to request fire trucks from nearby municipal departments, including those in Bang Saray, Kled Kaew, and Khet Udomsak, along with six emergency rescue units from the Sawang Rojanathamsathan Foundation. Firefighters arrived to find flames engulfing a wooden residence within the resort complex. Despite immediate efforts, the blaze took over an hour to fully extinguish. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported, but the owner, 47-year-old Mr. Pheeraphong Chaikampha, watched in shock as the flames consumed part of his property. Mr. Pheeraphong, who was inside the resort when he smelled smoke, found flames and heavy smoke coming from his private quarters. He tried to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful and quickly called emergency services. He managed to retrieve some valuables, including cash and gold, though the estimated damage to the property amounts to several million baht. The valuables saved included gold, weighing a total of 67 baht, worth approximately 3,000,000 baht, which was partially damaged by the fire Mayor Yosawat explained that after receiving the report, he instructed the local disaster prevention team to respond promptly and coordinated additional support from neighboring units. The Jungle Moon Boutique Homestay Resort, which offers accommodations and a cafe popular among foreign tourists, suffered damage due to what appears to be an electrical short circuit from decorative Christmas lighting wires near the guest rooms. Fortunately, the quick response from fire crews limited the damage to only part of the resort, and officials plan to assess further damage on the morning of November 11. Pol. Lt. Kunatip and his investigation team recorded the scene and confirmed that the suspected cause as an electrical short circuit. Evidence will be gathered by forensic specialists from Chonburi’s Forensic Centre 2 as part of the ongoing investigation. Picture and video from responders. -- 2024-11-11 My Movie.mp4

At approximately 08:45 on November 10, Lt. Col. Watchira Phetrit, Deputy Inspector of Ban Khwao Police Station, Chaiyaphum Province, received a report from the owner of a rice mill in Moo 7, Non Daeng Subdistrict, Ban Khwao District, that a newborn’s body had been found in a canal behind the mill. Lt. Col. Watchira, along with local rescue teams and a medical examiner from Ban Khwao Hospital, immediately arrived at the scene to investigate. The canal, located behind the rice mill, is surrounded by bamboo and vegetation. In the water, they discovered the body of a newborn male, visibly bloated and with an umbilical cord still attached. The canal’s banks are overgrown with grass, and only a small section near the roadside allows water access. According to Sangwian, the rice mill owner, he opened the mill that morning as usual. While his employees were cleaning and performing regular duties, one worker who had gone to the restroom at the back of the facility noticed the baby’s body floating in the water. The employee immediately informed the authorities. Sangwian added that the mill only employs two female workers, both of whom have had sterilisation procedures and were not pregnant. He speculated that the infant might have been abandoned by a young mother who had terminated the pregnancy and disposed of the body in the canal near the roadside. Lt. Col. Watchira confirmed that the body will be sent for autopsy and DNA testing to try to identify the mother. Police are also reviewing security camera footage from nearby areas to identify any suspicious individuals who might have abandoned the infant. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities committed to locating the mother. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-11

A young man strangled a female friend in a fit of rage, later calling for help when he realised the severity of his actions. The victim ultimately did not survive. The suspect confessed, citing "accumulated resentment" as the motive. On the afternoon of November 10, the Tai Tek Tung Foundation Rescue Unit in Thung Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, received an emergency call regarding an assault in an abandoned building near a local market. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene to find a young woman, identified as Ms. Ratchadaporn, aged 27, lying unconscious on the second floor of the building. She showed clear signs of strangulation around her neck, and, after initial attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at Thung Yai Hospital. Following the incident, Pol. Lt. Col. Thotsaphon Kanhihran of Thung Yai Police Station arrived to investigate and apprehended the suspect, Mr. Tontaragul, aged 22. He confessed to the assault, explaining that he worked odd jobs and had been living in the abandoned building for some time. He had known Ms. Ratchadaporn for over a year; she frequently visited him at the building and often borrowed money without repaying. Additionally, she had reportedly filmed videos of him without his consent, even after he repeatedly asked her to stop. Most recently, she had pawned his phone without reclaiming it, leading him to forbid her from visiting him again. According to Mr. Tontaragul, on the day of the incident, he ordered Ms. Ratchadaporn to leave the building, but she refused. In a moment of anger, he strangled her until she passed out. Realising the gravity of his actions, he left the building and asked a friend to call for help, but tragically, it was too late to save her. The suspect admitted to acting in a fit of rage and expressed regret, not anticipating that his actions would lead to her death. He returned to the scene afterward, intending to surrender to the police. He also disclosed that he had used methamphetamine prior to the incident. Mr. Tontaragul is currently in police custody for further investigation, and legal proceedings are underway. Ms. Ratchadaporn's body has been sent for a post-mortem. Picture from police -- 2024-11-11

A fire broke out in a grocery store adjacent to the Mae Ramat Fresh Market, Tak Province, causing extensive damage and narrowly avoiding the spread to surrounding shops and homes. Estimated losses are around 4 million baht, but 1 million baht in cash was safely recovered from the ashes. The incident was reported to Mae Ramat Police Station early on November 10. Firefighters from Mae Ramat Municipality and volunteers from the Phitak Kan Foundation promptly responded, along with local police. The fire started on the second floor of a two-story wooden building housing the grocery store, which was next to the main market structure. Large clouds of smoke billowed from the upper floor as firefighters worked urgently to control the flames, closing nearby roads to assist with fire containment. After an hour, they managed to extinguish the blaze, but the old, dry wooden structure was completely destroyed. Ms. Maninuch Khemthong, 74 years old, the owner of the house, she said that her house was built next to Mae Ramad fresh market more than 30 years ago. The ground floor sells fish and fresh food. At the time of the incident, she was downstairs in the house and heard a noise similar to an electrical short circuit. It happened near her Buddha statue room on the second floor. A few minutes later, there was a large amount of smoke and flames that quickly spread and burned the entire house and because the wood was old and dry, she had to run for her life amidst the chaos. Ms. Netlamai Wong-ub, 47 years old, the daughter of the owner of the house, who heard the news of the fire at her mother's house, went to inspect the valuables and found that the second floor had been badly damaged by the fire. Fortunately, there was still some good luck, the 1 million baht cash kept by the bed in a safe was not burnt but was just wet from the fire fighting. Police are investigating the cause of the fire, and forensic officers are expected to examine the site to gather further details. The store contained a significant amount of merchandise, contributing to the high financial losses. During the fire, the shop owner and nearby vendors moved belongings to safer locations, fearing the fire would spread to adjacent businesses and homes. Picture from responders. -- 2024-11-11

A Ukrainian tourist fell victim to a foreign gang who lured him to a room in Phuket, where he was attacked, bound, and threatened with violence before being forced to transfer a staggering amount of 250,000 USD in cryptocurrency. The incident, reported to Lieutenant Surasit Wandi of Kamala Police Station by the victim, Mr. Viacheslav Liubov, 23, unfolded on the night of November 8. Mr. Liubov recounted that he was invited by his friend, Alfred Chernishuk, 18, also from Ukraine, to a room in Kamala, Phuket. Upon arrival, he was met at the entrance by Arman Grigoryan, 21, from Armenia, who escorted him inside. As they conversed on the balcony, Mr. Liubov went to use the bathroom, where he was ambushed by two masked men dressed in black. One man restrained him in a chokehold while the other bound his hands and feet using ropes and cable ties. Grigoryan then threatened to break his fingers if he refused to transfer the funds. Wielding a hammer, Grigoryan demanded the money while one of the masked men brandished a large knife nearby. Though initially forced to agree to transfer 500,000 USD, Mr. Liubov managed to negotiate the amount down to 250,000 USD, fearing for his safety. Once the transaction was complete, the gang left, warning him not to report the incident. After freeing himself, Mr. Liubov took photos of the tenants' passports for evidence and alerted the hotel staff to avoid entering the room for evidence preservation. Despite searching for the suspects at Phuket Airport, he was unsuccessful and later reported the crime at Kamala Police Station. Authorities are now investigating and pursuing the suspects in connection with the robbery, which has raised concerns about tourist safety in Phuket. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. -- 2024-11-09

Fortuner Veers Off Expressway Curve, Driver Ejected and Killed in 3 Metre Fall A crash occurred when a black Toyota Fortuner lost control on a curve along the Udon Ratthaya Expressway, with the driver being ejected from the vehicle and falling approximately three metres to his death Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1343132-fortuner-veers-off-expressway-curve-driver-ejected-and-killed-in-3-metre-fall / -
A crash occurred when a black Toyota Fortuner lost control on a curve along the Udon Ratthaya Expressway, with the driver being ejected from the vehicle and falling approximately three metres to his death. Police said that CCTV footage captured the incident, providing insight into the events leading to the fatal outcome. At approximately 23:15 on November 9, Pak Kret Police Station in Nonthaburi, along with the Poh Teck Tung Foundation rescue team, responded to a reported vehicle crash. The incident took place on a curved section of the expressway near the exit onto Chaeng Watthana Road in Khlong Kluea, Pak Kret District. Authorities were joined by a forensic medical examiner to investigate the scene. Upon arrival, responders found the body of Mr. Natthaphon, 46, lying on the ground below the expressway. His vehicle, a black Toyota Fortuner with license plate from Bangkok, was discovered tilted on its side, with the right wheels resting on the guardrail along the expressway curve. Scrapes and black marks were visible on the guardrail where the vehicle had impacted it. According to police the CCTV footage, shows the Fortuner approached the curve at high speed from the Bang Pa-In direction. As it rounded the turn, the vehicle lost control and collided with the guardrail, causing the right side to mount the barrier. At the scene police examined the vehicle and found that the driver’s door window was open. It is suspected that Mr. Natthaphon was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, and the impact caused him to be ejected from the vehicle, resulting in a fall to the road below from a height of about three metres. Police officers documented the scene and preserved evidence from the CCTV footage, which confirmed that no other vehicles were involved. The crash was determined to be a case of losing control on the curve, with no signs of external interference. The body of the deceased was handed over to the Poh Teck Tung Foundation for transfer to the Institute of Forensic Science for further examination. Pictures from responders. -- 2024-11-10

In a near-tragic incident, a father and his two sons narrowly escaped death after a charging phone sparked a fire that spread rapidly from a power socket to their bedding, eventually consuming the entire floor of the building. The incident took place in a three-story commercial building in Soi Dan Samrong 28, Samrong Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province. The blaze broke out at approximately 02:00 on November 10. Authorities from the Samrong Nuea Police Station received the emergency call and immediately coordinated with the Samrong Subdistrict Municipality Fire Department and nearby fire units. Five fire trucks, accompanied by officers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, were dispatched to the scene to control the fire. The quick actions of the father and his children allowed them to escape unharmed, despite the intense flames. The fire, believed to have been triggered by an overheating phone charger, severely damaged the second floor of the building before firefighters could contain it. No injuries were reported, but the family lost much of their property on the affected floor. Authorities are reminding the public of the potential risks associated with leaving electronic devices unattended while charging, especially overnight. Investigation into the exact cause of the fire continues, but initial reports suggest that faulty wiring or an overheated charger may have been to blame. The family is safe, though they face significant property loss from the incident. Picture and Video from responders. -- 2024-11-10 ScreenRecording_11-10-2024 09-32-52_1.mp4
