Mr. Abbas shared that while strolling near Pattaya Soi 10 Beach on October 1, he encountered a foreign seller promoting a “miracle” herbal hair growth solution, claiming visible results within a month. Intrigued, Mr. Abbas and his partner agreed to be escorted to a shop located in the Tip Plaza Market on Pattaya Beach Road. There, foreign staff reassured them that the product would deliver results within a month, prompting Mr. Abbas to pay over 7,000 baht. After a month of using the product with no noticeable improvement, he returned to the shop requesting a refund, only to be turned away. Frustrated, he filed a report, on November 1, at Pattaya City Police Station and sought assistance from local media. Upon arriving at the shop with reporters, Mr. Abbas observed several foreign workers hastily dispersing. A Thai woman, along with a foreign national who identified as the shop’s owner, eventually refunded the 7,000 baht, bringing relief to Mr. Abbas. The shop owners maintained that their business had the necessary permits, though licensing from the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was pending. Mr. Somkid Boonsungnern, a 50-year-old local motorcycle taxi driver near Tip Plaza Market, disclosed to reporters that similar scams targeting tourists occur frequently, especially at night. He noted that many foreign groups, often from Pakistan, operate scams along Pattaya’s beachfront, selling various questionable products. From the reports I have read from those at the fire a responder was injured by glass from a window exploding during the fire. The window was not the cause. I cant be 100 % certain, but suspect this was caused by firefighting water hitting a heated window. The responder had cut injuries to his arm, so he was probably close or below the window when it occurred.

In the early hours of November 2, a foreign motorcyclist crashed through a police checkpoint in Pattaya, seriously injuring a traffic officer before fleeing into nearby forest and eventually attempting to evade capture by hiding in the sea. The incident occurred around 02:05 at an alcohol checkpoint on Jomtien Second Road in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Sirichat Nuteas, Deputy Chief of the Pattaya City Police Station, reported that the foreign national ignored the checkpoint’s barriers, speeding through and striking Police Sub-Lieutenant Rapeepat Phrommin, who was stationed there. The impact threw Officer Rapeepat to the ground, leaving him with a severe head injury and lying in a pool of blood. Rescue teams quickly arrived, provided first aid and rushed him to the hospital. Following the collision, the foreign motorcyclist abandoned his Honda CB650 motorcycle and escaped on foot into a thicket beside the road. Police units, including more than 50 officers from the Pattaya City Police, quickly mobilised to surround the area. Officers deployed motorcycle patrols and plainclothes detectives to positions where the suspect was expected to flee. After an extensive search, the foreign man was spotted emerging from the forest and moving towards the water at Jomtien Beach. He entered the sea, attempting to escape, however, officers who had a clear description of the suspect were able to recognise him, and they waited until he returned to shore before detaining him. The man initially denied involvement and resisted an alcohol test at the Dongtan Substation of Pattaya Police. Police investigators are examining the motorcycle’s registration and rental records to verify the identity of the foreign suspect. Surveillance footage from the checkpoint clearly captured the incident, which will serve as evidence in the legal proceedings. According to Santi Phunnoi, a rescue volunteer with Sawang Boriboon Pattaya, the suspect approached the checkpoint at high speed, swerving around cones and crashing directly into the officer before fleeing into the forest. Waranchai Sookyeng, Deputy Inspector at Khlong Luang Police Station, who promptly coordinated with medical personnel from Thammasat University Hospital and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. Emergency responders from the Tha Khlong Municipality also arrived quickly to assist with rescue operations. Officials faced a steep 200 metre climb and had to extend over 300 metres of firefighting hose to extinguish the blaze amid risks from the toxic gases being produced. According to Prayut Waiwong, Director of Protected Area Regional Office 14 in Tak, this incident marks the third occurrence of a fire in the cave. On October 30, park rangers first detected smoke from an opening above the cave. Due to thick smoke at the entrance of the cave, initial inspection efforts were halted for safety reasons. Emergency responders, including the Phitsanulok Rescue Centre, after entering in protective breathing apparatus identified four to five burning areas within the cave. An emergency meeting was held at the Chao Ram Cave Ranger Station to strategise the firefighting approach. The meeting included local officials, heads of national parks, fire control officers, and Sukhothai and Phitsanulok disaster prevention teams. The operation received support from Taling Chan Subdistrict Municipality, which cleared access routes up to the cave entrance, while Phitsanulok authorities provided additional breathing apparatus equipment and provided equipment training for responders, before they were allowed into the cave. Atthapol Charernchansa, Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, attributed the fire to bat guano combustion due to high heat and gases produced. The response required extreme caution given the cave’s elevation and layout. As of November, the fires have been extinguished using with water tankers supplying the over 300 m firefighting hose-lines to reach the flames deep within the cave. In response, patrols were intensified along the border area. At approximately 01:30 on Novemebr 1, a joint patrol discovered around 50-60 large cardboard boxes, wrapped in black plastic and secured with black tape, concealed in a longan orchard near Bueng Chanang Lang Village, located about 500 metres from Border Marker 54. Upon initial inspection, the boxes contained various brands of cigarettes and crates of Sir Edward whiskey. Rescue teams rushed to assist a 66-year-old French tourist who suffered an accident while diving near the Similan Islands in Thailand’s Phang Nga Province. The incident occurred around 13:30 on November 1 at Ao Khon Khae, near Koh Bangu within Similan Islands National Park. Authorities from the Phang Nga Maritime Security Center received a report from the Naval Security Unit on Similan Island. The diver, identified as Mr. Raspado Francis, was part of a tour organised by a local boat company when he encountered difficulties underwater. Upon arrival, park medical staff and the Naval Security team administered first aid. Mr. Francis remained conscious, responding to verbal cues, but exhibited symptoms including coughing and blood-tinged mucus. Park officials quickly transported him to the mainland via a national park speedboat. Additional support awaited at Thap Lamu Pier, where the Phang Nga Maritime Security Centre and local officials coordinated a transfer to Khao Lak Medical Centre for further care. The Sichon Police Station received the call at approximately 08:55 on November 1. Investigating officers, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Suwit Thongsupa, arrived on the scene accompanied by Police Colonel Somchuan Limprajupong, local detectives, Sichon Hospital medical personnel, and the Phetkasem Nakhon Si Thammarat rescue team. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim, Yan Naing, a 45-year- old Myanmar national and fisherman, lying lifeless with three deep cuts to his head, apparently inflicted by a machete. Blood was splattered across the pillow, mattress, and up the walls, creating a grisly scene. The victim's wife, 45-year-old Maung Maw, also a Myanmar national, was found weeping inconsolably beside his body. According to Maung Maw, the tragedy unfolded around 05:00 when she and her husband were asleep in the room. Her son, Ang Min, also known as Wa, who is 30 years old, allegedly stormed into the room and attacked his stepfather with a machete, striking him on the head three times. Her son fled the scene with the weapon immediately after the attack. While the motive is still under investigation, preliminary findings suggest that Ang Min was angered by his stepfather's frequent criticisms. Following the tragic incident, Maung Maw alerted the authorities to initiate an investigation and pursue legal action against her son. The crash occurred as the motorcycle, reportedly speeding, ran a red light and crashed into a delivery truck. Police Lieutenant Chatchawan Petnok, an investigator from Ban Khai Police Station, responded to the incident at the Takhun-Chak Bok intersection. At the scene, authorities found the bodies of two victims: a 43-year-old woman identified as Ms. Prathumma Khiaophrain from Nakhon Pathom, and an unidentified man approximately 50 years old. Both had suffered severe head trauma and broken limbs. Near them lay a heavily damaged red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle with the license plate from Rayong. Approximately 10 metres away, police located the involved vehicle, a gold Toyota delivery truck with the license plate from Rayong, parked on the roadside. The driver’s side door bore visible dents and blood stains from the impact. Mr. Reak Mive, a Cambodian national who was driving the truck, remained at the scene to cooperate with police. According to Mr. Mive, he was transporting boxes of fruit from Chonburi to a factory in Tapong, Rayong, when the accident occurred. As he approached the intersection with a green light, he continued through it, only to see the motorcycle speeding from the side against a red light. Despite other vehicles waiting at the light, the motorcycle did not brake and struck his truck with great force. Investigators from Ban Khai Police Station are conducting a thorough investigation, questioning witnesses, reviewing CCTV footage, and analyzing the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash.
