A 65-year-old man was electrocuted while fishing after his fishing rod inadvertently snagged a high-voltage power line on a bridge over a reservoir in Nakhon Phanom province. The incident occurred when Mr. Luechai, a resident of Nong Yat subdistrict in Mueang district, was fishing near the Nong Yat Reservoir, behind the freshwater aquarium museum. Unaware of the danger, he cast his line beneath three exposed high-voltage wires, situated approximately five metres above the ground. Unfortunately, his fishing line, which had a lead weight attached, came into contact with the power line, creating an electrical short circuit. The combination of the lead weight attaching to the power line and his aluminium fishing rod touching, allowed the current to travel through the rod, electrocuting him instantly. Passersby later discovered Mr. Luechai’s lifeless body and notified authorities. Police Lieutenant Chom Churat, Deputy Inspector at Mueang Nakhon Phanom Police Station, along with a medical examiner from Nakhon Phanom Hospital and forensic officers, arrived to investigate. The victim was found clutching the remains of his aluminum fishing rod, which had been burnt and broken by the electrical shock. Severe burns were visible on his feet and abdomen, consistent with electrocution. A motorcycle, fishing bucket, and bait were found nearby, while the fishing line and weight were still tangled in the high-voltage wires above the scene. According to the victim’s relatives, Mr. Luechai, a single man who worked as a farmer, was an avid fisherman who frequently fished in the area. They believe he was unaware of the danger posed by the power lines. Local authorities have coordinated with the Provincial Electricity Authority to investigate the cause of the incident further and will implement preventive measures, including installing warning signs to avoid future accidents. The incident occurred in Rayong on September 30, leaving three people dead after a six-wheeled truck crashed into the back of a parked lorry in a road works zone. The incident happened in a drainage construction area where warning signs were reportedly unclear, causing the truck to collide with full force at speed. At around 17:30, Pol. Sub-Lt. Maitree Pakul, an investigator from Muang Rayong Police Station, received a report of a fatal collision on Route 36 inbound to Rayong in Thap Ma Subdistrict, Muang District. Emergency medical teams from Rayong Hospital and rescue workers from Sawang Porngkuson Foundation were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officials found a six-wheeled truck, license plate from Bangkok, that had crashed into the back of a ten-wheeled lorry, license plate from Prachinburi, which was transporting large pipes. The front of the truck was completely wrecked, trapping three men inside the cab. One man was already dead, while the other two were severely injured. Rescue teams used hydraulic cutters to free the trapped victims and rushed them to the hospital. Unfortunately, both men succumbed to their injuries shortly after arriving. The victims were later identified as Watthanapong Nuengjamnong, 36, the driver, Supachai Preechom, 31, and Sombun Promkamnoi, 41. According to the driver of the other lorry, he had parked the vehicle to wait for workers to lift the pipes for the construction project. Suddenly, the six-wheeled truck, traveling at high speed, hit the cones marking the construction zone and slammed into the back of his lorry. Upon inspecting the wreck, he found the three men trapped inside and immediately alerted authorities. Police have transported the bodies of the deceased to Rayong Hospital for further examination. They have also detained the lorry driver, workers, and site supervisors for questioning to determine whether proper warning signs were in place. A devastating train collision in Surat Thani claimed the lives of a mother and her young daughter on the night of September 29, while leaving a married couple in critical condition. The tragic incident occurred at around 19.00, at a railway crossing on the road to Ban Bang Por in Tha Chang district. Emergency responders arrived to find a white Honda City, registered in Surat Thani, severely damaged and lying some distance down an embankment from the crossing. Inside the wreckage, Suchawadee Wisetkaeo and her husband, Withaya Panasee, both 34, were found gravely injured and rushed to Tha Chang Hospital for treatment. Tragically, just a few metres away from the car were the lifeless bodies of 52-year-old Aranya Pahamak and her 9-year-old daughter, Supatthida Panasee. The family, residents of the Tha Chang district, had been returning from a visit when their vehicle was struck by a Sprinter train bound for Bangkok. The train had departed from Surat Thani station only 30 minutes before the collision. The railway crossing, which lacked protective barriers and was only equipped with flashing lights, was being battered by heavy rain at the time of the accident. According to police reports, the downpour may have contributed to the disaster. The train itself sustained only minor damage and was able to continue its journey after a three-hour delay. However, for the victims’ families, this heartbreaking incident has left an irreparable void. In a related incident earlier this month, another tragic train collision occurred in Chumphon, where two adults were killed after their pickup truck was hit by a train. Miraculously, a child was found alive in the wreckage. That collision occurred around 10.30 on September 17, when Special Express train No.40, travelling from Surat Thani to Bangkok, smashed into the vehicle just 30 kilometres after departing Lamae Train Station. The violent impact left the pickup crushed and flipped upside down beside the tracks. Story source thethaiger Picture from responders. -- 2024-09-30

The widely debated case on Thailand media, involving prominent business figures, "Mae Tak" and "Pa Beer," took a significant turn as both were arrested following an ongoing investigation into their gold-selling business. The controversy surrounding their business escalated after numerous customers sought to return gold they had purchased. This led to Mae Tak and Pa Beer appearing on Channel 3’s "Hon Krasae" program to address the situation publicly. The case soon drew the attention of various authorities, including the Revenue Department, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), and the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD). On September 30, officers from the CPPD arrested Ms. Kornkanok Suwannabutr (Mae Tak) and Mr. Kanpon Ruangarom (Pa Beer). Eyewitnesses reported that Mae Tak appeared visibly pale and stressed, while Pa Beer remained calm, dressed in a white shirt. The arrest unfolded quietly, with Pa Beer walking ahead of Mae Tak as they entered the police vehicle. Both refrained from answering any questions posed by reporters. Both are facing charges of fraud under the Computer Crime Act and the Consumer Protection Act, and both have denied all accusations. The police have opposed their bail, citing the significant impact on the public and the large number of victims involved in the case. Their detention hearing is scheduled for tomorrow. At 14:00 during a press briefing at the Consumer Protection Division headquarters, Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasert, head of the CCPD confirmed that both Mae Tak and Pa Beer had denied the charges during questioning. Authorities are still investigating whether the case includes money laundering, asset concealment, or luxury car transfers. "We have detailed information on their movements and are continuing our surveillance and investigation," Wittaya stated. The police plan to submit the case for the suspects’ detention tomorrow, with a strong recommendation to deny bail due to the widespread public harm caused by the alleged crimes. "This case affects a large portion of the population. Even though some victims have yet to come forward, it is clear that the crimes have had a broad public impact," Wittaya emphasised. While substantial evidence, including documents, has been collected, police declined to disclose further details due to the ongoing investigation. Wittaya confirmed that the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has been notified, as the fraud charges are linked to the potential money laundering case. AMLO will now investigate the assets and funds gained from the alleged crimes. Officers from the CPPD also conducted an inspection of the gold shop in the Hathairat area. The inspection lasted over three hours, during which officers collected documents, customer-related gold, and various materials as part of an ongoing investigation. Despite the probe, no funds or gold were seized, and the shop remains open for business as usual. Police Lieutenant Colonel Pairat Promwong, Deputy Superintendent of Division 1, revealed that the officers gathered all relevant evidence related to the case, including gold and documentation, which will be further examined. "At this stage, no assets or gold have been frozen. The collected gold is linked to the investigation and will be used to support the ongoing case," said Pairat. Police Colonel Yingyos Chaladpru, Superintendent of Nimmitmai Police Station, further clarified that the gold taken for examination was limited to items that customers had returned for resale. "Gold from other parts of the store was not confiscated. After speaking with the shop's manager, we can confirm that the store remains operational, and customers can continue to sell their gold as usual," he stated. Further investigations are underway, and police will continue to coordinate with AMLO to trace and seize any assets connected to the wrongdoing. The pickup bus was transporting students to a local school when the truck driver is believed to have lost control, collided with the rear of the vehicle. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, but early indications suggest that the truck may have been speeding or that there was a failure to brake in time.Local authorities, including the Chai Badan Police and rescue teams, were swift in their response, with ambulances arriving on the scene within minutes. A fire engulfed and almost completely destroyed an Isaan restaurant in Nonthaburi, causing an estimated loss of nearly 5 million baht. Two people were injured in the incident, including the head chef, who fainted in shock as the fire rapidly spread. Authorities believe the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit. The fire broke out on September 29 at the “Isaan Station” restaurant, located along the Pak Kret Bypass Road in Tha Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nonthaburi. Local police, along with the Nonthaburi Municipality Fire Department and volunteer rescue teams, were dispatched to the scene to control the fire before it could spread to nearby buildings. The restaurant, a single-story structure, was consumed by flames that quickly spread due to the wooden materials in the construction and the tables, chairs, and counters, which acted as fuel. Firefighters deployed five fire trucks to battle the blaze and prevent it from spreading to an adjacent parcel delivery warehouse. After 60 minutes, the fire was brought under control. At the time of the fire, there were about seven to eight staff members inside the building. Two employees were injured: a 50-year-old chef named Yao, who suffered burns to his left elbow and fainted while watching the fire, and Pat, 52, a beverage staff member, who sustained a cut to his right wrist while attempting to break a door to help colleagues trapped inside. Both were transported to Pak Kret’s Chonprathan Hospital for treatment. Inside the restaurant, investigators found that the cashier counter, tables, chairs, kitchen equipment, and the roof were all completely destroyed by the fire. Fortunately, the damage to the nearby neighbouring warehouse was minimal. Su, a 30-year-old restaurant employee, said he noticed the fire starting at the cashier counter and spreading to the roof within minutes. He tried to extinguish the fire but was unable to stop the flames. He believes the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit at the counter, and although several staff were inside, everyone managed to escape safely. Pat, the injured employee, explained that he cut his wrist while trying to assist other employees, believing that some staff were still trapped inside the building as the fire intensified. Another restaurant employee, recalled that a coworker had rushed to call her for the keys to the cashier counter when the fire started there. By the time she arrived, the counter was already engulfed in flames. She added that the restaurant had recently celebrated its 4th anniversary on September 5. A co-owner of the restaurant, expressed her dismay, noting that the business had undergone significant renovations just a short time ago. She estimates the losses to be no less than 5 million baht, although the exact figure is still unclear. Police have begun gathering witness statements and will coordinate with forensic experts to investigate the exact cause of the fire, which is currently suspected to be the result of an electrical short circuit. The incident took place on the Bang Phra Reservoir road, near Thanayut Timber, in Sriracha District, Chonburi. At around 08:30, police were alerted to the fatal crash and quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless bodies of Ms. Liap (surname withheld), 59, and her grandson, Nattanon (surname withheld), 6, who had been on their way to school. The motorcycle they were riding, a red-and-black Honda Zoomer-X, was found severely damaged nearby. The black Honda City car involved in the collision was discovered in a ditch beside the road, with significant damage to its front. The driver, Ms. Apinya (surname withheld), 30, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Eyewitnesses reported that the car, driven by Ms. Apinya, was traveling towards Khao Kheow, while the grandmother and her grandson were heading towards Wat Ta Po. "I heard a loud crash and rushed out to see two bodies lying near the road. They were in critical condition, so I immediately called for emergency services," one witness recounted. Ms. Apinya later explained to authorities that she had been taking her child to school and, on the return trip, briefly blacked out. When she regained consciousness, rescue workers were already at the scene. Preliminary police investigations revealed skid marks near a curve, indicating that Ms. Apinya had attempted to brake before losing control and crossing into the oncoming lane. 3 Metre Python Causes a Stir After Bolt Ride to Pattaya Mall Shoppers and tourists at a Pattaya shopping mall were sent into a frenzy when a massive python, measuring nearly 3 metres in length, was discovered under a car in the mall's parking lot. Full story : https://aseannow.com/topic/1339406-3-metre-python-causes-a-stir-after-bolt-ride-to-pattaya-mall/ -
Shoppers and tourists at a Pattaya shopping mall were sent into a frenzy when a massive python, measuring nearly 3 metres in length, was discovered under a car in the mall's parking lot. The scene unfolded at 16:00, when the Pattaya Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Radio Centre received an urgent call reporting the presence of the snake. The incident took place at a shopping mall on Pattaya Klang Road, in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Upon arrival, authorities found a large crowd of onlookers, both locals and tourists, gathering around the scene. The python was initially spotted coiled under the rear tire of a white Nissan sedan with Rayong plates. However, as the rescue team attempted to capture the snake it slithered away and hid beneath a green Toyota BB car from Nakhon Pathom, sending nearby bystanders running in panic. Capturing the snake proved to be no easy task, as it found its way into the car's engine compartment. Despite the team's efforts, the python remained hidden, forcing authorities to resort to using mosquito spray to drive it out. After nearly two hours of careful maneuvering, the snake, now disoriented from the spray, finally emerged from the engine, allowing the team to capture it successfully. The python was later released back into the wild. According to Mr. Mongkol Khandhapornbamrung, a 63-year-old taxi driver, the python’s arrival at the mall may have been an unexpected passenger in a Bolt ride-hailing service. He recounted that earlier, a Bolt car had dropped off passengers at the mall. As the car drove away, the python allegedly fell from the underside of the vehicle, where it then slithered under another customer’s car, sparking the commotion.
