  2. UPDATE Na Jomtien Police Investigate Security Guard's Death, CCTV Evidence Points to Suicide Picture taken from CCTV Authorities are investigating the death of 24-year-old Anucha Kongkrue, also known as "Phet," who was found with a fatal throat wound in room 169, building 61, at the Eua Athorn housing project in Na Jomtien, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. During a press conference on September 22, Pol. Col. Watchanachai Saengrith, the chief of Na Jomtien Police Station, revealed details from the investigation. Forensic teams collected evidence, fingerprints, and DNA at the scene, while CCTV footage was reviewed to establish a timeline of events. The footage indicated that only two people occupied the room: Anucha and his father, Wichai Kongkrue, a motorcycle taxi driver. The father and son were seen using the back door to enter and exit, with the front door kept locked at all times. Anucha returned to the apartment at 13:04, on September 20. Just four minutes later, Wichai left and did not return, leaving his son alone. No one else was recorded entering or leaving until Anucha's body was discovered. Initial examinations found no signs of struggle or theft. The knife believed to be the murder weapon was located near Anucha's body, along with cannabis paraphernalia. Investigators meticulously documented blood stains, footprints, and drag marks in the apartment. Authorities have interviewed three key witnesses: Wichai, a friend of Anucha, and a neighbour . The preliminary findings suggest that Anucha’s death may be a case of self-harm rather than murder. However, this conclusion is provisional, pending results from forensic analysis. Earlier suspicions regarding Anucha's friend, who was interrogated overnight, were cleared as no evidence of wrongdoing was found. Similarly, Wichai raised no suspicions during questioning and was released. Witnesses from the housing project reported that Anucha had a history of cannabis and kratom use, leading to erratic behavior. Somwang Nuamusing, a 39-year-old security guard at the housing project, described Anucha as a quiet person who avoided socialising . He recounted a previous incident in which Anucha fled, fearing arrest for kratom use. While police initially suspect suicide, the investigation continues as they await further forensic results to clarify the circumstances surrounding Anucha's tragic death. -- 2024-09-23

The incident occurred at a truck repair shop along the Cha-am-Pranburi bypass, heading towards Bangkok. According to police reports, the mechanic, identified as Mr. Jetsada, had finished replacing parts under the truck and was preparing to reattach the rear wheels. As he was adjusting the hydraulic jack to lift the truck higher, it tilted unexpectedly, causing the heavy vehicle to crash down on him, fatally crushing his head. His wife and brother, who were present at the scene, were left devastated, clinging to his body in tears. Police officers, along with rescue teams, arrived swiftly. They found the lifeless body of the mechanic pinned beneath the rear axle of the white Isuzu truck. Fellow workers, including the mechanic's brother, who owned the shop, managed to use a backhoe to lift the truck off his body. Unfortunately, it was too late, as he had died from severe head trauma. The truck owner explained that the mechanic had initially used two jacks to raise the vehicle and had successfully completed his task of replacing the suspension. However, when he tried to adjust the jack further to reinstall the wheels, the truck's weight caused the jack to collapse, leading to the tragic accident. Police have launched a formal investigation. The body was transported to Cha-am Hospital for an autopsy before being released to the family for funeral rites. -- 2024-09-23

A 20-year-old trans woman fell to her death from a six-story condominium in Chonburi, with further investigations revealing that she was wanted on human trafficking charges. The incident occurred at 17:30 on September 22, at a condo located in Moo 12, Na Pa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi Province. Police from the Mueang Chonburi Station, along with a rescue team from Trikunatham Foundation, rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a person falling from a height. The victim, identified as Mr. Tawan (surname withheld), a 20-year-old trans woman from Surat Thani, was found in critical condition, face down on the ground. Despite the rescue team's efforts to revive her, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after. Eyewitnesses reported that they did not know much about the victim, only that she had rented two rooms in the condo. 9. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Residents of a local village in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, are gripped with fear after land subsidance formed behind their community due to water erosion. The situation has raised concerns about the possible collapse of nearby homes, prompting urgent calls for municipal intervention. On September 22, reporters visited Soi Wat Boon Sampan 11, which connects to Soi Wat Boon Sampan 9 in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, after receiving complaints from local residents. They found that water erosion had caused the soil to subside beneath a concrete road at the back of the village, leaving the community living in constant fear. Upon investigation, it was revealed that water from damaged drainage pipes had eroded the soil under the road, creating the large cavity. The area is adjacent to a large, water-filled excavation pit, and is dangerously close to several homes, further amplifying residents’ fears. Locals are concerned that if the issue is not resolved swiftly, both the road and nearby houses may collapse. The Nong Prue Municipality has placed traffic cones to prevent large vehicles from driving over the affected road. However, residents believe this is only a temporary fix and inadequate given the severity of the situation. They worry that heavy rainfall could worsen the situation, leading to further erosion and increasing the risk to their safety. A resident living just a few houses away from the area described her growing fear, explaining that the problem had been reported to the municipality but no substantial action had been taken. "At first, the damage was small, but now it has grown much larger. If it rains heavily again, it could collapse at any moment," she said. The residents are pleading with the Nong Prue Municipality to address the issue urgently, especially as the rainy season continues, which could lead to further damage and endanger their lives and property. They are calling for immediate assistance to alleviate the suffering of the community, who are left living in fear of a potential disaster. -- 2024-09-23
