Picture from responders. An 18-wheel trailer truck overturned on a curve on the parallel road of Motorway 7, near Wat Manarom, heading towards Chak Yai Chin Intersection in Laem Chabang, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. Rescue teams worked for an hour to free the trapped driver, who sustained severe injuries. Police Lieutenant Boonthip Jinda, an investigator from Laem Chabang Police Station, received the accident report and coordinated with the Sawang Prateep Sriracha Rescue Team to respond to the scene. Upon arrival, the team found a white 18-wheel truck, license plate from Ayutthaya, lying on its side. The vehicle’s front section was heavily damaged, trapping the driver, identified as Mr. Sawinai Sirirat, 53, a resident of Chaiyaphum Province. Picture courtesy of CCIB The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has arrested a couple for forging New Zealand visas and defrauding Thai citizens seeking overseas employment. At a press briefing held at 09:30 on December 7, CCIB Commander Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwphan, alongside other officials, including representatives from the New Zealand Embassy in Thailand and Immigration New Zealand, announced the successful operation against the suspects. According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong, irregularities in visa applications for Thai workers traveling to New Zealand were flagged by the New Zealand Embassy. These applications were found to involve counterfeit documents, prompting the embassy to alert the Thai cyber police. After gathering evidence, the court issued arrest warrants for two individuals. On the morning of December 6, officers from CCIB raided a residence in the Prasert-Manukit area of Bangkok, believed to be the hideout of the suspects. The individuals, identified as Ms. Jantima and Mr. Anuwat, had been evading detection for years, even refraining from registering official identification for over a decade. The suspects were charged with fraud, forgery, submitting false information to computer systems, and deceiving victims by falsely claiming they could secure jobs or training opportunities abroad. Investigations revealed that the couple had exploited their past experiences working in South Korea to identify vulnerabilities among Thai job seekers. Initially targeting those interested in South Korea, the suspects shifted focus to New Zealand due to its higher wages. Using social media, they created convincing posts and purchased Facebook pages with large followings to attract victims. The suspects promised job placements in New Zealand, quoting a fee of 70,000 baht, which included 50,000 baht for a work visa and 20,000 baht for personal expenses. They engaged with victims through video calls and provided fabricated employment contracts purportedly from New Zealand employers. Victims were warned not to share these documents, under the threat of legal consequences. Once victims transferred payments, the suspects would sever contact. Although only two victims have come forward so far, police suspect there may be many additional victims based on evidence found during the raid. Authorities are urging other victims to contact the police to assist in the investigation. Following the press conference, the suspects were taken to Ratchada Criminal Court for detention. During their transfer, Ms. Jantima broke down in tears and leaned on police officers for support. Both suspects declined to answer questions from the media. Police have opposed bail for the suspects, citing concerns about evidence tampering. Investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and accomplices. -- 2024-12-08

Upon receiving the report, Mr. Parinya directed Mr. Phadungsit Thanboon, the deputy district officer responsible for Mae Tuen Subdistrict, to coordinate with local leaders, including the headmen of Village 12 and Village 6, as well as their deputies and village assistants. Together, they led a team to the scene of the incident. Picture and video from responders. An auto repair shop in Nonthaburi was engulfed in flames early morning on December 7, destroying five cars and alarming nearby residents with loud explosions and intense fire. The blaze occurred at “Chang Tao Garage,” located in Samakkhi 59 Alley, Tha Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nonthaburi. The fire broke out at around 00:20, prompting police officers from Rattanathibet Police Station, firefighters, and rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to respond. A total of nine fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. The shop, a two-story structure made of wood and steel, was used as both a residence and a repair shop. When authorities arrived, they found the fire raging, with loud explosions reportedly coming from vehicle tanks, gas cylinders and 200-litre oil barrels stored on the premises. Fumes from thinners and gasoline spread throughout the area, making the scene even more hazardous. It took firefighters over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Ms. Suksawat, a 42-year-old resident living next door to the garage, recounted the terrifying experience. “At first, I thought it was just another loud argument or a gunshot because people drink and party here regularly. But then I heard someone shouting, and when we looked outside, we saw the flames.” Ms. Suksawat quickly gathered her two children and essential belongings, including her husband’s musical instruments, and moved her car away from the danger zone. She described hearing several explosions, including a large initial blast followed by three or four smaller ones, possibly caused by gas or oil canisters. Mr. Narintorn Phokaew, a volunteer from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, explained the challenges firefighters faced. “When we arrived, the fire had already spread throughout the building. We had to use multiple water hose-lines, due to the presence of flammable materials such as thinner, paint, and petrol engine cars. Parts of the building’s structure collapsed during the operation.” The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit, though investigators will inspect the site to confirm. Officials from the Nonthaburi Provincial Forensic Division will also examine the evidence to determine liability. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but the fire has left the garage and its contents, including five vehicles, completely destroyed. -- 2024-12-08 ScreenRecording_12-07-2024 13-44-15_1.mp4

At 23:05 on December 6, officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensan, Inspector of Pattaya Tourist Police Division 4, and Pol. Lt. Col. Sirachat Nootes, Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, responded to reports from concerned bystanders. The pair had reportedly been seen having sex both on the beach and in the sea, oblivious to the presence of numerous onlookers. Picture from responders. A 42-year-old construction worker died after his motorcycle skidded off the road and into a canal in Nakhon Nayok on December 6. The incident occurred at approximately 14:00, in the Wang Krachom Subdistrict of Mueang District. Despite attempts by emergency responders to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, identified as Phithak, originally from Udon Thani, was riding his motorcycle when it veered off the road and into the canal. A local resident, 65-year-old Bunta Homphom, witnessed the crash. She recalled hearing a loud noise and saw Phithak’s motorcycle slowly slide off the road. He then asked for help to lift the bike out of the canal. Bunta advised him to wash off the mud before attempting to move the vehicle, but soon noticed that Phithak appeared unsteady and possibly intoxicated, stumbling as he walked. Phithak spent around 15 to 20 minutes in the canal, trying to wash himself off. Concerned, Bunta again approached him and saw him struggling in the water, desperately trying to stay afloat. She immediately called for help, and bystanders managed to pull him from the water. However, Phithak had already lost consciousness and was unresponsive. Rescuers arrived and attempted CPR for more than 30 minutes, but their efforts were unsuccessful. A Honda motorcycle, which had been covered in mud, was found nearby, having fallen into the canal along with Phithak initially. It was later confirmed that he was a construction worker who often worked in the area. Phithak’s family revealed that he had a history of epilepsy and had been hospitalised for the condition in the past. Authorities have sent his body for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. -- 2024-12-07
