  1. UPDATE Ex-Husband Confesses to Murder: Jealousy and Betrayal Behind Brutal Killing with Iron Cord Picture courtesy of Khaosod. In a shocking turn of events, a 62-year-old man has confessed to murdering his ex-wife using the cord of an iron, following a bitter fallout fueled by jealousy and financial disputes. The suspect, identified as Thanant, was apprehended by police in Nakhon Sawan after fleeing the scene of the crime in Pathum Thani. Authorities, led by Police Colonel Kiattisak Mitprasart, began the investigation after the body of Darunee, aged 53, was discovered in a rented room in Khlong Luang District. Thanant admitted to killing her out of rage when she refused to make a commitment that she would stop seeing other men. According to the police report, Thanant had invested heavily in Darunee's business ventures during their relationship, providing financial support in the belief that it would be reciprocated. However, he grew increasingly suspicious when Darunee allegedly took more than he had agreed to and began to avoid contact. The relationship took a dark turn on September 15, 2024, when the two met at a police station in Amphawa to resolve a theft complaint filed by Thanant. Although the initial meeting seemed to quell tensions, the situation worsened when Darunee refused to give up her ties to other men. Days later Thanant and Darunee were together in her rented room when Thanant asked for a simple promise: that she would no longer involve herself with other men. When Darunee refused, Thanant’s frustration boiled over. In a fit of anger, he grabbed the cord from a nearby iron and strangled her to death. Following the murder, Thanant fled the scene, driving to Ratchaburi and then to Nakhon Sawan with plans to escape further to Chiang Mai. His escape, however, was short-lived as police tracked him down and arrested him for intentional murder. The investigation revealed complex layers of jealousy, financial strain, and betrayal. Thanant believed that Darunee was involved with another man, further aggravating his feelings of being used. The police have charged Thanant with premeditated murder. -- 2024-09-21
  2. UPDATE Plan to Re-enact Double Murder by “Yod,” Former Molam Singer, Cancelled Due to Safety Concerns Authorities canceled the re-enactment of a brutal double murder involving "Yod," a former Molam singer, following safety concerns. The 20-year-old suspect, Chonlatee, had confessed to killing a father and son, both cattle traders, but declined to participate in the re-enactment, fearing for his safety as angry relatives of the victims gathered at the police station, seeking vigilante justice. The incident began on September 19, 2024, when the bodies of 62-year-old Rian and his 32-year-old son Piyapong were found in the back of a pickup truck abandoned in a rice field in Kalasin Province. The two had been missing after attending a cattle market in Maha Sarakham. Their deaths were quickly linked to Chonlatee, a former Molam singer who had transitioned into cattle trading. He was taken into custody and, after hours of questioning, admitted to the killings. The situation intensified at the police station when Piyapong’s wife, Lalitta, slapped Chonlatee during the investigation. Despite tight security, the victims' relatives gathered outside the station, shouting curses and threatening violence, prompting police to consider the suspect’s safety. Kalasin Provincial Police Commander, Pol. Maj. Gen. Triwit Sriprapa, explained that Chonlatee’s fear of retaliation led to the re-enactment being called off. Instead, the suspect was immediately transported to the Kalasin Provincial Court for detention. According to the police, Chonlatee had been motivated by greed. On September 18, he encountered the father and son at the cattle market, observed them making a significant sale, and devised a plan to rob them. He lured them to a remote area, under the pretense of inspecting cattle, before fatally shooting both men. Chonlatee stole 31,000 baht in cash and a gold necklace, which he later used to repay debts and gave to his wife for safekeeping. Chonlatee faces multiple charges, including premeditated murder, armed robbery resulting in death, illegal possession of a firearm, and concealment of the bodies. Lalitta, Piyapong’s widow, expressed shock at the brutality, stating that despite knowing Chonlatee through their shared profession, she never expected such violence. She has called for the death penalty to be imposed on the man who took her husband and father-in-law's lives. The investigation continues, with police seeking to recover further evidence linked to the crime, including the weapon used, which Chonlatee claims to have discarded in a nearby pond. -- 2024-09-21 RPReplay_Final1726886951.mp4
  3. Picture of the bathroom where the infant was found. A newborn baby girl was abandoned in a bathroom at a local temple, sparking outrage and condemnation from the local community. The baby, left wrapped in a towel and a pink silk cloth, was discovered by monks at Khao Pong Saket Phutthacharn Temple in Chonburi's Bang Lamung district. The incident was reported at 10:15 on September 20, to the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Radio Centre, which promptly dispatched rescuers to the scene. The temple, located on a quiet hillside surrounded by large trees, became the centre of attention as villagers and monks gathered to observe the discovery. The baby girl, with fair skin, had been abandoned by her parents, covered in a towel with red ants crawling on the cloth. The bathroom, located in a secluded part of the temple, had been locked from the outside, leaving the infant helpless and unseen inside, but fortunately unharmed. Rescue workers quickly transferred the baby to Bang Lamung Hospital for a thorough health check and medical care. Phra Miekham Niphapayo, a 48-year-old monk at the temple, recounted hearing the baby’s cries while having his morning coffee. Initially unable to locate the source, he heard the cries again and followed the sound to the locked bathroom. With a growing sense of concern, he opened the door to find the abandoned newborn. He immediately alerted the villagers, who contacted the authorities for assistance. Villagers gathered to discuss the infant, noting that the baby was fortunate not to have been harmed by wildlife, such as monitor lizards, which are common in the area. Outrage ensued as the community denounced the cruel act of abandoning the child, calling the parents "heartless" and "unafraid of sin." Many expressed their disbelief at how someone could treat an innocent life in such a manner. Local police have documented the scene and collected evidence. They have been tasked with investigating the identity of the parents. -- 2024-09-21

  5. Picture from responders. At approximately 05:00 on September 21, local authorities responded to an incident where a woman fell from a building near the Robinson Mall in Chantaburi Mall. Officers from the Muang Chantaburi Police Station, along with a rescue team from Phra Pokklao Hospital and volunteers from the Sawang Katanyu Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. The young woman was found to have fallen onto the spiked metal fenced railings below and was hanging by one leg in great pain. None of the metal spikes had pieced her leg, but it was severely pinned between the railings, from the impact of the fall. She had suffered cuts and bruises and a possible broken leg. Rescue workers were worried about the effects of possible crush syndrome, so had to hold and support her while medical staff stabilised her as she was still stuck on the fence. Rescuers then had to spread and cut through the steel fence to safely bring the injured woman down for further medical treatment, before she was then transported to Phra Pokklao Hospital. Further details about the woman's details or the cause of the fall have not been disclosed as the investigation continues. -- 2024-09-21

  7. Picture from responders. Police received a report of a fatal collision on September 20 at approximately 05.15, involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler trailer truck on Highway 21, Lopburi-Lom Sak Road. The incident occurred near kilometre marker 36, in the downhill direction towards Saraburi, on a dark stretch near Khwang Hill, Moo 8, Dilang Subdistrict, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province. The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Upon receiving the report, Police Lieutenant Thanapol Kaewbriwong of Kok Salung Police Station, along with Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers equipped with extraction tools, rushed to the scene to investigate. The crash occurred on a two-lane road on a hill without streetlights. Authorities found a white Toyota Vigo pickup truck with a cargo box, carrying fresh chicken meat. The truck's front end was severely damaged, and inside, the body of Mr. Jamlong (surname withheld), 33, of Phrommanee Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, was pinned in the driver's seat. Rescue workers had to use extraction tools to recover the body. About 20 metres away, police discovered the other vehicle involved, a white Isuzu 18-wheeler trailer truck, with a minor rear-end damage. The driver, Mr. Jaroon (surname withheld), 55, of Saraburi, was waiting to give his statement to the police. Mr. Jaroon told police that he regularly drives this route, and before the crash, he was hauling teak bark to Wang Muang District. While slowly climbing a hill in the left lane, he heard a loud crash as the pickup truck behind him slammed into the back of his trailer. He parked his truck on the side of the road and, upon inspecting the scene, saw the front of the pickup completely crushed. He immediately called the police. Initial investigations suggest that the pickup truck was likely transporting fresh chicken from a factory in Muang Khom, Chai Badan District, Lopburi, heading towards Nakhon Nayok. Traveling at high speed, the pickup truck crashed into the slower-moving trailer truck on the dimly lit hill. Mr. Jaroon has been detained for further questioning and legal proceedings. The deceased's body has been sent to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, following standard legal procedures. -- 2024-09-21

  9. Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A 53-year-old woman, identified as Darunee from Samut Sakhon, was discovered murdered in her apartment at a housing complex in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani. Her hands and feet were bound with black electrical cords, and her neck was tied with a cord. The body was found after neighbours reported a foul odour emanating from her apartment, which was locked. The investigation was led by Pol. Lt. Waranchai Sukying of the Khlong Luang Police Station, who responded to the call at 10:30 on September 20. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the door locked with a padlock on the outside and had to force their way inside. The body was in a state of decomposition, hidden under a blanket, with signs of a struggle throughout the room. Initial inquiries suggest a complex love triangle may be at the heart of the crime. Darunee had reportedly broken up with her ex-husband, who had refused to accept the split and accused her of theft. Investigators also found evidence pointing to tensions between her ex-husband and a new boyfriend. A neighbour , Sorachai, 47, who helped Darunee find her rental unit, revealed that the victim had frequent contact with his mother but had not been heard from in several days. Darunee’s mother had made repeated attempts to contact her daughter from Tuesday evening, receiving no response. On Thursday, the stench from the apartment led to the discovery of Darunee’s body. The body has been sent to Thammasat University Hospital for a detailed autopsy. Pathum Thani police chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Yutthana Jonkhun confirmed that the investigation is focusing on the victim’s personal relationships, specifically involving her ex-husband and new partner. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, while police continue to review security footage from nearby cameras. Police suspect that Darunee’s murder was likely linked to jealousy and emotional conflict. The police stated that some of the reviewed CCTV footage shows Darunee in conversation with a shirtless man wearing long pants at the building’s entrance. The interaction appeared tense, as though they were attempting to resolve a conflict before the murder occurred. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to search for the suspect. CCTV image of the man police wish to question. -- 2024-09-21

Picture from responders Emergency services in Sisaket were alerted at 07.30 on September 20, to an incident involving a school bus that overturned on the road between Ban Phon Yang and Ban Nong Phai in Phon Yang Subdistrict, Wang Hin District. The accident left 20 students injured. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, where they found a yellow six-wheeled school bus, license plate Sisaket, overturned on the roadside. The injured students from Wat Luang Wittaya School, included both novice monks and regular students. Emergency personnel administered first aid at the scene before transferring the injured to Wang Hin Hospital for further treatment. The bus driver, Mr. Chaiwat Khumkham, 50, explained that he had been picking up students from villages along the route to take them to school in downtown Sisaket. The road between Ban Phon Yang and Ban Nong Phai is narrow and difficult to navigate, especially when passing other vehicles. As the bus approached a curve, another vehicle came from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Mr. Chaiwat steered sharply to the left, causing the rear wheels to slip off the road due to the lack of a shoulder. The bus then lost control and overturned, resulting in multiple injuries among the students. The bus was reportedly carrying over 60 students at the time of the accident. Some parents, upon hearing the news, rushed to the scene to take their children home, deciding not to send them to school for the rest of the day due to the trauma. 13. UPDATE Tragic Crash Claims the Lives of Husband and Wife After Benz Overturns in Bangkok Picture of the remains of the safety barrier. According to Pongpat Sreedong, a police investigator from Bang Chan Police Station, CCTV shows that the vehicle was initially traveling at high speed in the rightmost lane of the main highway, heading towards Srinakarin-Romklao. The car collided forcefully with an orange safety barrier dividing the main highway and parallel lanes, overturning multiple times before coming to a stop. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The victims have been identified as Ms. Kritaya Sakornbut, aged 29, and her husband, Mr. Kittipong Pathomsuk, also aged 29. 16. UPDATE Arrest Made in Murder and Car Theft Case of Female Driver, Suspect Has Extensive Criminal Record Authorities have arrested "Mr. Max," the primary suspect in the murder and car theft of a female driver, after her body was discovered in Nakhon Pathom. The suspect, who has a lengthy criminal history, is now facing multiple charges, including new ones that have recently emerged. The victim, Ms. Thitirat, 47, a private driver, went missing after picking up a male passenger. Her body was later found on September 19 in a ditch along the Nakhon Chai Si-Huai Phlu road in Nakhon Pathom Province. Late that same night, a police investigative team from Region 7 arrested Narongsak, alias Max, 35, in Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom. He was wanted under a warrant issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court for theft. The suspect was apprehended at a residence in Moo 4, Huai Mon Thong Subdistrict. During interrogation, Mr. Max confessed to using a ride-hailing app on September 11 to book a car from Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok's Phra Khanong District to Nakhon Pathom. Ms. Thitirat was the driver. Upon reaching Nakhon Chai Si-Huai Phlu Road, Mr. Max claimed to be feeling carsick and asked to stop the vehicle. When Ms. Thitirat stopped, he moved to the driver's seat, strangled her, and later used a phone charger to ensure she was dead. He then dumped her body in a ditch and fled the scene in her vehicle. Surveillance footage shows Mr. Max driving the stolen car to southern provinces, including Chumphon, Phuket, and Phang Nga, before returning to Nakhon Pathom, where he was eventually arrested. An investigation into Mr. Max’s past revealed multiple previous offenses, including two rape charges in 2010 in the jurisdiction of Khok Kram Police Station, an assault case in 2023 under Chaiyapruek Police Station, and theft cases in 2024 involving Bang Yai and Min Buri police stations. Further reports from Min Buri Police Station indicate that on August 22, Mr. Max borrowed a friend’s motorcycle, claiming he would use it to top up his mobile phone at a convenience store. However, he never returned the bike, and his friend was unable to contact him, leading to a complaint being filed. Despite a summons being issued, Mr. Max did not appear, resulting in a court warrant for theft in late August. Police from Region 7 have transferred Mr. Max to Min Buri Police Station for further questioning. He denied the old theft charges, claiming that a friend borrowed the motorcycle and he did not know its whereabouts. Authorities plan to detain him in relation to the prior charges tomorrow. As for the current murder case in Nakhon Pathom, no formal questioning has been conducted yet. Investigators from Nakhon Chai Si Police Station are expected to take over the case, where they will likely seek to prosecute Mr. Max for the murder. It has been confirmed that Nakhon Chai Si Police have coordinated with Min Buri authorities to secure Mr. Max for further legal proceedings. On the afternoon of September 20, investigators from Nakhon Chai Si will question Mr. Max and conduct a reenactment of the crime at the scene before returning him to Min Buri for detention on the outstanding theft charges. -- 2024-09-20

  18. UPDATE Arrest Made in Shocking Double Homicide of Father and Son in Kalasin: Police Doubt Suspect's Full Testimony Picture of the suspect at the scene when the bodies were discovered. Kalasin police have apprehended a key suspect in the brutal double murder of a father and son, whose bodies were found stuffed in the back of their cattle truck. Authorities continue to investigate, suspecting inconsistencies in the suspect's confession, and are on the hunt for additional members of the murder gang. The victims, 62-year-old Mr. Rian and 32-year-old Mr. Piyapong (surnames withheld), were local cattle traders from Khao Phra Non sub-district, Yang Talat district, Kalasin province. Their bodies were discovered on the morning of September 19, in a field near Ban Non Sawan village, Yang Talat district, after they had gone missing following a visit to a local cattle market in Maha Sarakham province. Police initially suspected robbery and disputes over cattle trading as motives. Police officers, led by Provincial Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Triwit Sriprapa, and investigators from various units had zeroed in on a prime suspect. Chonlatee (surname withheld), a 20-year-old resident of Maha Sarakham, was arrested. Known as “Yod,” he is both a local singer and a cattle trader. On the day of the crime, Chonlatee had arranged to meet the victims to inspect cattle, and he was the last person seen with them. Witnesses noted Chonlatee’s suspicious behavior, particularly at the crime scene where he seemed nervous and overly eager to interact with both police officers and locals. He repeatedly mentioned his close relationship with the victims and claimed to have been with them at the cattle market before parting ways. After five hours of interrogation, Chonlatee confessed to luring the victims into a trap, where a gang believed to be involved in drug trafficking killed them. He admitted to stealing 100,000 baht in cash and a gold necklace from the victims. Chonlatee revealed that he was 30,000 baht in debt to the gang, who had pressured him to commit a robbery to pay off his debt. After spotting the father and son with a significant amount of cash at the market, he devised a plan to lure them to a remote area under the pretense of a cattle sale. Once they arrived, Chonlatee's accomplices, numbering around five to six, ambushed and murdered the pair. They loaded the bodies into the victims' truck, drove it to the field, and divided the stolen goods. Chonlatee reportedly received 7,000 baht for his role in the crime and returned to his girlfriend's home in Maha Sarakham. He later pretended to assist the victims' relatives in searching for them after their disappearance. Despite the confession, police remain skeptical, noting several inconsistencies in Chonlatee’s testimony. Investigators are pursuing leads on his alleged accomplices and are continuing to gather evidence to determine the full extent of the crime. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the truth behind the heinous act and bring all involved to justice. -- 2024-09-20

  24. Picture of the incident courtesy of ThaiRath. Multiple possible explosions were heard from an electric water pump station in Tha Song Khon, Maha Sarakham. The incident occurred as the station was operating at full capacity to pump water from an overflowing reservoir. The incident took place on September 19, following heavy rains that caused the Kaeng Loeng Chan Reservoir in Mueang District to exceed its capacity, reaching 105% with 8.4 million cubic metres of water, surpassing its 8 million cubic metre limit. As the water spilled over, it flowed into the overflow canal designed to channel excess water into the Chi River. However, the rising water level of the Chi River presented an obstacle to the drainage efforts. In response, irrigation officials activated four high-capacity pumps at the Tha Song Khon sluice gate to drain nearly 1 million cubic metres of water per day, aiming to prevent floodwaters from entering the inner city. At approximately 18:00 a short circuit occurred in the control panel of one of the electric pumps, igniting a fire inside the Tha Song Khon sluice gate building. Multiple explosions followed, sending clouds of smoke into the air and causing nearby villagers, who had been fishing near the station, to flee in all directions. The series of explosions ceased shortly after, but the control panel continued to burn, disabling all four pumps in operation. Rescue personnel from the Tha Song Khon Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO) arrived at the scene, using fire extinguishers to put out the flames. Authorities are now awaiting forensic investigators to determine the cause of the fire and subsequent explosions. An official from the pump station stated that the pumps had been restarted at 17:00 following a brief one-hour break after running continuously for 10 hours. Moments after restarting, the official heard two loud bangs from the back of the control panel, and upon inspection, discovered a short circuit had triggered the fire. Despite efforts to shut down the system, an explosion occurred before the switch could be thrown, leaving the cause of the short circuit unclear. In preparation for the incoming Typhoon Saola, expected to hit the region on September 20, the irrigation department plans to deploy large portable pumps as a temporary measure. Officials will monitor water levels around the clock and advise residents to follow emergency protocols in the event of sudden flooding. -- 2024-09-20
