  1. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 45-year-old man died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a car parked against the flow of traffic on a rural road in Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Muaydee, Deputy Superintendent of Tha Sala Police Station, received a report of a fatal road crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Ban Thung Prue Road, Moo 7, Sakaeo subdistrict. Officers, along with an investigative team, a medical examiner and volunteers from the Siam Ruamjai Pu In Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. Authorities discovered a silver bronze Mazda, registration number from Nakhon Si Thammarat, parked facing the wrong direction on the roadside. The car had visible damage to its front-left side. Nearby, a heavily damaged green Honda motorcycle, registration from Chonburi, lay in a roadside ditch. The body of Mr Jirasak, 45, a local resident of Sakaeo, was found under a banana tree beside the road. He had sustained severe chest trauma and a broken neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the victim had been riding along the road and, upon entering a curve, encountered the stationary car. Unable to brake in time, he crashed directly into it and was thrown off the motorcycle into the roadside vegetation. Police are continuing to investigate whether the car had been parked illegally or had been travelling against traffic before stopping. Witness statements and further evidence are being collected as legal proceedings move forward. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-05

  3. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A shooting has rocked the normally quiet district of Tha Chang in Surat Thani province, after a man, reportedly driven by jealousy, fatally shot his ex-girlfriend’s new partner before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. The incident occurred around 19:30 on 3 June at a residence in Moo 4, Sawiat Subdistrict. Police were alerted by locals and rushed to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of Mr Thanakrit Chueamun, 31, from Phitsanulok province. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was found lying face-up on the ground in front of the house. Several bullet casings and a pistol holster were recovered nearby. The suspected gunman has been identified as Mr Sanchai Thongnuipram 36, a local resident of Surat Thani. According to police, he arrived at the home on a Honda PCX motorcycle and confronted Mr Thanakrit, allegedly after learning of his relationship with Mr Sanchai’s ex-girlfriend, Ms Supatta Kraisin, the owner of the property. According to Ms Supatta’s statement to police, Mr Sanchai had been attempting to reconcile their relationship, but she had already moved on and begun dating Mr Thanakrit. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence, with Mr Sanchai reportedly drawing a 9mm handgun and shooting Mr Thanakrit in a fit of rage. He then fled the scene on his motorcycle. Police investigators and forensic teams from Region 8 are currently pursuing leads and reviewing security footage from the area as part of an ongoing manhunt. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Mr Sanchai’s whereabouts to contact their local police station immediately. A full investigation is underway, and police have vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-05

  7. Pictures courtesy of Thaich8 and responders. A road crash on the morning of 4 June, left 19 schoolchildren injured after a cement truck collided with a school van in Sri Maha Phot district of Prachinburi province. The incident occurred around 08:00, at a notorious junction near Ban Nong Hai-Ban Nong Man Pla Road, close to the Phase 7 industrial estate in Hua Wa subdistrict. CCTV footage captured the harrowing moment when a school van, driving on the main road and passing through a flashing-light intersection, was struck from the side by an oncoming cement truck that reportedly failed to brake in time. The force of the collision caused the van to overturn. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they found the van lying on its side by the roadside and the cement truck, with a damaged front bumper, stopped nearby. Rescue workers quickly extracted the injured students, who were primarily between kindergarten and Mathayom, providing first aid before transporting them to Sri Maha Phot Hospital. Many of the children were visibly shaken, with some of the younger ones in tears. The van was transporting 19 students from Ban Rabo Phai to Thewarak School in Sri Mahosot district when the crash occurred. Ms Nit Chitchamnong, 59, the school van driver, stated that she was driving normally along the usual route when the cement truck suddenly emerged from the side road and struck the van, causing it to overturn. “I was driving on the main road, just as always. When I passed the flashing-light intersection, the cement truck came out of nowhere and hit us,” Ms Nit recounted. Mr Namchok Plangthong 29, the cement truck driver, claimed that he saw the school van approaching and had already begun slowing down from an incline. However, he alleged the van driver did not stop at the intersection and he was unable to brake in time. Parents, upon hearing the news, rushed to the scene in panic to check on their children. Some were visibly distressed and vocally angry at the cement truck driver. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident and reviewing CCTV footage as part of the process. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries have been reported. 9. UPDATE No New Anthrax Cases Detected in Sa Kaeo as Health Authorities Intensify Surveillance Pictures courtesy of Kaoded. Health officials in Sa Kaeo province have confirmed that no new cases of anthrax have been detected following the discovery of the province’s first confirmed patient, a 53-year-old male woodcutter who was hospitalised in Chonburi. Laboratory results confirmed anthrax infection on 1 June. In response, local and national health agencies have launched a thorough investigation and decontamination effort in affected areas. Dr Tharapong Kapko, Sa Kaeo’s Provincial Public Health Chief, revealed that the Ministry of Public Health’s epidemiology team, alongside animal health and veterinary departments, conducted an emergency meeting and field operations on 3 June. The team included representatives from the Department of Disease Control, Animal Quarantine Office, Veterinary Research Centre, and local public health units. Field teams were deployed to five key sites in Tha Yaek Subdistrict. These included: 1. Disinfection of the patient’s home, bed area and bathroom. 2. Collection of soil samples from the eucalyptus plantation where the patient worked and from a nearby cattle pen. 3. Sampling from a co-worker’s home where raw meat was reportedly prepared on 9 April 2025. 4. Administration of antibiotics and vaccines to cattle and buffalo in surrounding areas. 5. A retrospective review of medical records from the past five years at Somdet Phra Yuparat Sa Kaeo Hospital to identify any previously unrecognised anthrax-like symptoms. Soil samples were divided into two sets for testing: one sent to the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Mahidol University and the other to the Animal Health Institute. As of 3 June, no additional human or animal cases have been identified. A social media post showing images of skin lesions raised public concern, but a clinical investigation confirmed that the individual did not have anthrax. The patient had consumed raw meat, which initially heightened suspicion, but laboratory tests ruled out the disease conclusively. In a bid to prevent further infections, the provincial health office has issued an urgent directive to all district hospitals and health centres. Health volunteers and staff at rural clinics have been instructed to closely monitor any unusual animal deaths or illnesses and to report them immediately to the Department of Livestock Development. Additionally, medical personnel are on alert for human cases displaying symptoms such as pustular skin lesions with black eschars resembling cigarette burns, a hallmark sign of cutaneous anthrax. The livestock department has begun administering antibiotics and vaccines to cattle and buffalo within a 5-kilometre radius of the affected zone. This area currently houses 243 cows and 29 goats. Authorities are also planning a second round of disinfection at high-risk sites including animal slaughter locations, labour camps and cattle enclosures. Officials emphasise that while the situation is under control, continued vigilance is crucial. Public cooperation is encouraged, particularly in refraining from consuming raw meat and reporting any suspicious illnesses in humans or animals. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-06-04

  11. Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. An early morning crash on 4 June, has left two passengers dead and several others seriously injured after a long-distance tour bus travelling from Rayong to Surat Thani veered off the road and plunged into a central reservation. Authorities confirmed that the driver fell asleep at the wheel moments before the crash. The incident occurred at approximately 04:30 on Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road), near the entrance to King Rama VI Camp, home to Border Patrol Police Unit 14, in Hua Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Rescue teams from multiple agencies, including Sawang Prachuap Rescue Foundation, Huai Sai Subdistrict emergency medical services, Ao Noi Subdistrict medical responders, and the Highway Police, rushed to the scene after being alerted. Upon arrival, responders found a yellow interprovincial bus, registered in Chonburi and normally found operating the Rayong–Mukdahan route, damaged in the central reservation. The front of the vehicle had been damaged after it collided with roadside barriers and a utility pole. The impact shattered the front and side windows. There were 28 people onboard, including the driver. Two male passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Five others sustained critical injuries and eight more were seriously hurt. All injured passengers were taken to Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital for emergency treatment. The bus was being driven by Mr Thosaporn 51, who had taken over as the second driver during a scheduled rest stop in Hua Hin. He told police that he had dozed off momentarily just before the crash, causing the vehicle to veer off course and strike the guardrail and light pole before plunging into the median. Meanwhile, passengers with minor injuries who did not require hospitalisation were later picked up by an alternative bus provided by the transport company to continue their journey to Surat Thani. Police have launched an investigation, but this incident has again reignited public concern over driver fatigue on long-haul routes and the need for stricter monitoring of bus operators and their rest schedules. 13. Picture courtesy of Amarin A 10-year-old boy has died after being shot in the forehead at a hut in a paddy field in Kalasin province. Authorities are urgently investigating the circumstances of the incident, amid conflicting accounts from witnesses. The victim, identified as Surasak “Bas”, was found seriously injured with a gunshot wound to the right side of his forehead on the evening of 2 June. The incident occurred at approximately 21:00 at a two-storey wooden hut, roofed with corrugated iron, situated around 600 metres from Kok Kwang village in Maha Chai subdistrict, Somdet district. Rescue workers transported the boy to Somdet Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route. A locally made Thai-style flintlock gun, typically used for hunting rodents, was discovered near the scene along with visible bloodstains on a bamboo platform outside the hut. According to investigators from Sahatsakhan Police Station, who are temporarily attached to Saeng Badan Police Station, the weapon was allegedly brought to the hut by a group of older boys aged between 14 and 18, who had taken Surasak with them to the rural location. The teenagers claim the gun accidentally discharged while Surasak was playing with it. However, police remain unconvinced by the explanation and are treating the matter with caution. “We are not ruling anything out at this stage,” said one officer. “All individuals present at the scene will be called in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.” Forensic teams have collected the weapon and other evidence for examination and autopsy results are expected to provide further clarity. The incident has shocked the local community and raised questions over access to homemade firearms in rural areas, as well as the supervision of children. Police have confirmed that investigations are continuing as they work to determine whether the shooting was indeed a tragic accident, or something more. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-06-04

  15. Pictured courtesy of Workpoint, The body of a baby girl was discovered on the morning of 3 June, washed up along the edge of a mangrove forest in Khlung District, Chanthaburi Province. The infant, estimated to be no older than three months, was found face down in the water near Khlong Por canal with a visible wound on her forehead. At approximately 15:00, officers from Khlung Police Station, emergency services from Khlung Rescue Foundation and local administrative officials travelled by boat to the remote site in Moo 3, Bang Chan Subdistrict, after being alerted by a local fisherman. Initial examination revealed the infant had likely been dead for around 24 hours. The wound on her forehead appeared consistent with blunt force trauma, possibly from impact with a hard object. The baby’s body was gently recovered and taken by boat to the pier near Wat Tha Kha Yang temple, where it was handed over for forensic examination. At this stage, no relatives have come forward and there have been no reports of missing children in the area. According to the man who discovered the body, he was piloting his boat to a nearby shrimp pond when he noticed what he initially thought was a discarded doll. As he drew closer, a strong odour confirmed it was a human body. He immediately informed local village leaders and called the police. Local villagers performed a small ritual at the site, offering milk and snacks according to traditional beliefs, before authorities arrived. The canal where the body was found is known as Khlong Por, which flows from the Nam Daeng and Bang Chan communities. Residents believe that the low tide may have caused the body to drift and become lodged along the mangrove edge. Police are urging anyone who may recognise the baby or knows of a missing infant to contact Khlung Police Station. An autopsy and further investigation are underway to determine the cause of death. 17. Picture courtesy of Amarin A heartbreaking incident unfolded on the morning of 3 June, in the Sukhumvit 93 area of Bangkok, where a five-year-old girl was discovered clinging to the lifeless body of her father, who had reportedly died at least six hours earlier. The child, frail and severely malnourished, appears to had been without food for several days. Rescue workers and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) have stepped in to provide urgent assistance. Rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were alerted around 10:00 and rushed to the scene in Soi Pheung Mee 30. Mr Tharathon Kaetloi, 36, one of the first responders, recounted the distressing moment he entered the home after being called by concerned neighbours. “I was at home when a neighbour came to tell me something was wrong with the man who lived down the soi,” Mr Tharathon told reporters. “When we arrived, we found the young girl lying next to her father, who showed no signs of life. We called out several times, but there was no response. When we checked his body, it was already cold. We estimated he had been dead for at least six or seven hours.” The little girl was reportedly too weak to move, having not eaten or drunk anything for several days. “When we gave her a bottle of water, she drank it so quickly, we could see how dehydrated she was. It was absolutely heartbreaking,” Mr Tharathon added. Medical examiners later confirmed the father had died of an illness and would probably been unconscious for sometime before his death. His body was taken for religious rites at Wat Ratsatthatham temple in Bang Chak, Phra Khanong District. The rescue team assisted with funeral arrangements. Relatives of the deceased, including his aunt and cousin, said the father had worked odd jobs and scavenged for recyclable materials to support his daughter. “He always took care of her, especially after her mother left. We tried to help as much as we could, but times are hard, and we don’t have a steady income,” the aunt said tearfully. “When he fell ill, we tried to support him and the girl, but my daughter works and I’m elderly. The little one was very attached to her father. Even when he passed away, she continued to lie next to him,” she added. The MSDHS has since taken the child into protective care. Her family hopes to be reunited with her once their financial situation stabilises. “We haven’t abandoned her. We’re just struggling right now. When we have the means, we’ll bring her home,” said the aunt. This case has drawn public attention to the plight of vulnerable children living in poverty and isolation, with many calling for greater support systems to prevent such heartbreaking scenarios in the future. 19. Picture courtesy of Amarin A 28-year-old man has died after reportedly swallowing 49 methamphetamine pills during a police stop in Nakhon Pathom in an apparent attempt to conceal the drugs. The man began convulsing in a police holding cell and later died in hospital, prompting his family to seek justice. The deceased, Mr Theeranai Chumpan, had been driving to work in the early hours of 2 June when he encountered a police checkpoint operated by Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police. According to his wife, Ms Natthawadee, Mr Theeranai panicked, swallowed a packet of methamphetamine tablets and attempted to flee. He was quickly apprehended by officers, who managed to retrieve only the empty plastic drug packet from his throat. Police then escorted Mr Theeranai to Nakhon Pathom Hospital for a drug test. He reportedly told medical staff that he had swallowed only two pills and was returned to the police station for observation. According to Ms Natthawadee, she visited her husband at the station around 08:00. Initially, he appeared stable, but later he began convulsing violently in his cell, grabbing onto the iron bars before collapsing. She immediately alerted police officers and investigators, who called for assistance and carried him downstairs. Blood was seen coming from his mouth and nose as he was laid near the police vehicle. He was transported to Nakhon Pathom Hospital with CPR administered en route. Despite efforts to save him, Mr Theeranai was pronounced dead at 15:40. The family alleges that officers failed to take the situation seriously and delayed medical assistance. Ms Natthawadee claims an officer told her that unless her husband was foaming at the mouth, they would not take him to hospital. Police Colonel Achirawat Thaworncharoenwat, Superintendent of Mueang Nakhon Pathom Police Station, confirmed that a fellow detainee told officers that Mr Theeranai admitted to swallowing 49 meth pills. He said a formal investigation committee will be established to look into the incident and promised full cooperation with the family. The case has raised serious concerns over police conduct, detainee safety and emergency response protocols in custody. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-06-04

  21. Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 53-year-old woman has died after riding her motorcycle into oncoming traffic while intoxicated, colliding head-on with a pickup truck in Buriram province. The incident occurred around 10:00 on 3 June, on a curved section of the Ban Na Lao–Ban Hua Fai Road in Don Mon Subdistrict, Satuek District. Police Captain Naphat Sutthithanakul, investigator at Satuek Police Station, along with emergency responders, arrived at the scene to find the body of Mrs Kan, a resident of Ban Khok Sawang, Kaen Dong District. She was lying lifeless in the middle of the road, having suffered multiple fractures. Her red Honda Wave motorcycle was discovered badly damaged nearby. The white Toyota pickup truck involved, driven by Mr Thawon, 64, of Ban Hua Fai, showed clear signs of impact on its front right side. The vehicle had five sacks of fertiliser loaded in the back at the time of the crash. Mr Thawon told police that he had been returning from buying fertiliser when, at a curve in the road, two motorcycles approached in the opposite direction. Suddenly, one of them, Mrs Kan’s, overtook the other and veered directly into his lane, leaving him no time to avoid the collision. Shortly afterward, the victim’s husband, Mr Sompharn, 59 and their daughter arrived at the scene. Mr Sompharn was visibly distressed and furious, particularly at Mrs Ploy, 56, a close friend of the deceased. According to Mr Sompharn, Mrs Ploy had regularly invited his wife to drink alcohol from morning until night, even allowing her to sleep over after long drinking sessions. He said that despite repeated warnings, his wife continued to join her friend in drinking. On the evening before crash, Mrs Kan left home to drink with Mrs Ploy and the pair reportedly continued drinking into the next morning. When questioned, Mrs Ploy, still visibly intoxicated, admitted that the two had been drinking together since the previous day. She said Mrs Kan had left that morning but did not say where she was heading. Not long afterward, word arrived that her friend had died just 50 metres away from where they had been drinking. When asked whether she would stop drinking following her friend’s tragic death, Mrs Ploy responded defiantly, “I won’t stop drinking.” Police continue to investigate the incident. A 69-year-old man has been arrested after fatally stabbing his 77-year-old wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, during a domestic dispute in their Bangkok home. He later called the police himself, expressing remorse for his actions. The incident occurred on the afternoon of 2 June at a townhouse in Soi Charansanitwong 37, Bang Khun Si subdistrict, Bangkok Noi district. Officers from Bang Khun Non Police Station, along with forensic investigators and a medical examiner from Siriraj Hospital, responded to the scene. The body of the elderly woman was found lying in front of the ground floor bathroom door. She was wearing black floral pyjamas and a kitchen knife was found lodged in her left chest. There were no signs of a struggle in the house. Her husband remained at the scene and surrendered without resistance. In his police statement, the man explained that his wife had long suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis and limited mobility. He described her as often irritable and forgetful and admitted that her restlessness and tendency to wake him at night had caused him prolonged stress due to his difficulty sleeping. On the day of the incident, he had warned his wife not to use the bathroom unaided for fear she might fall. However, she insisted on going alone and ended up slipping. In the heat of the moment, angered and frustrated, he claimed he lost control and grabbed a knife before stabbing her in the chest. Overwhelmed by guilt, he immediately called the police to report what he had done. The body has been sent to the hospital for examination. Police have taken the husband into custody, along with the murder weapon and have charged him. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-04
