  5. Picture captured from CCTV. Police in Samut Prakan are hunting for a gold thief who gave a polite wai before robbing a gold shop, claiming he needed the jewellery as a Valentine’s Day gift for his girlfriend. The incident took place at a gold shop on Nam Daeng – Bang Phli Road, Bang Kaeo subdistrict, Bang Phli district. According to CCTV footage, the suspect, described as a stocky middle-aged man wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and a face mask, entered the shop barefoot around 14.00 on 14 February. He initially told the shop owner he wanted to exchange a gold necklace for a bracelet as a present for his girlfriend. However, after discussing prices, he left, only to return at 18.00 with a different approach. This time, he asked to see a 1.5-baht gold necklace, claiming his girlfriend would bring a 2-baht gold necklace to swap. As he engaged the shop owner in conversation, he grabbed her mobile phone before requesting the necklace and gave a wai apologetically, saying he was in desperate need. Shortly afterwards, he forced his way behind the shop counter, threatening an elderly shop assistant. The woman tried to calm him, but when the shop owner reached for a panic button, the suspect panicked. He ordered both women to move to the back of the shop before snatching a Wi-Fi router, mistakenly thinking it was the CCTV server. He then fled the scene on a black Honda PCX motorcycle. Ms. Kanoknapa, the shop owner, recalled that the suspect first came in during the afternoon, pretending to negotiate an exchange. He later returned, claiming his girlfriend was lost and requesting to see the gold necklace again. When he realised she was about to alert authorities, he panicked and stole the necklace, two gold-encased Buddha amulets, a mobile phone, and the shop’s Wi-Fi router. The elderly assistant, who was also targeted, stated that the suspect was polite at first but became aggressive once inside. “He told me he had no choice and begged me not to resist,” she said. “He pushed me aside before grabbing the valuables.” Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutkul, chief of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, confirmed that officers from Bang Kaeo Police Station are investigating. “The suspect acted alone and did not appear to be armed.” Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspect and expect an arrest soon. Police have also issued a warning to gold shop owners, advising them to ask customers to remove face masks, install secure iron bars, and ensure CCTV servers are well protected. In this case, the shop had security bars but had not locked them, allowing the suspect to push his way inside. -- 2025-02-16
  6. Picture from responders. A 17-year-old boy, identified only as “Jack”, was arrested by Pattaya police after being caught attempting to steal a motorbike in the Pratumnak Soi 4 area. The suspect, who had been on a spree stealing motorbikes from various locations, was apprehended with the help of a vigilant local resident. Jack admitted to having successfully stolen two motorbikes before being caught. He revealed that he would ride around on a bicycle, targeting motorcycles left with keys in the ignition. Police investigators took him to the locations where he had hidden the stolen vehicles, recovering a black Honda Wave 110i without a licence plate and a grey-black Honda Wave 100 bearing the registration number from Bangkok. While officers were securing the stolen vehicles, Jack took advantage of a momentary lapse in attention and fled, sprinting towards the sea. As he was a juvenile, police had not handcuffed him, allowing him to make his escape. He waded into the water and swam further from the shore, ignoring police attempts to negotiate his surrender. Authorities assured him they would help if he returned, but he continued to drift further out to sea. However, after approximately 20 minutes, the temperature and exhaustion proved too much, and he voluntarily swam back to shore, where he was promptly taken into custody. Jack has since been handed over to legal authorities for further proceedings in accordance with juvenile law. -- 2025-02-16
  7. Picture captured from CCTV Police in Ang Thong launched a manhunt for Thanakorn Thipprathueang, known as “Pee,” and his accomplice, Nopadol Insiri, known as “Ped,” after they carried out a deadly shooting spree that left two victims dead. On the afternoon of 14th February, at approximately 16:10 police in Mueang Ang Thong received reports of a shooting in Moo 7, Ban It subdistrict. The victim, Phichakorn Boonchuay, 30, was shot multiple times in the torso and later died from his injuries at Ang Thong Hospital. His brother, Wathanyu Boonchuay, reported hearing five to six gunshots before finding his sibling bleeding. A friend identified Thanakorn Thipprathueang as the gunman. At 16:20 police received another alert of a shooting in Moo 3, Hua Phai subdistrict, where 70-year-old Decha Khaobao, a former military veteran, was found dead after being shot. Initially thought to have collapsed, Decha’s death was later determined to be a murder. Investigation revealed that Thanakorn, a resident of Hua Phai, was behind both killings. He first shot Decha, his step-uncle, before fleeing on a motorbike with his accomplice, Ped. The pair travelled over 10 kilometres to carry out the second murder of Phichakorn. Afterward, they escaped with their weapons and ammunition. Thanakorn’s mother, Chonlathicha Kansathit, 57, disclosed that her son has been struggling with a psychiatric condition and had been inconsistent with his medication, often feeling isolated and unloved. The two fugitives were captured during the afternoon of 15 February, following an intense manhunt. Thanakorn Thipprathueang, known as “Pee,” and his accomplice, Nopadol Insiri, known as “Ped,” were arrested by police in a rural area of Sa-nga, Ang Thong province. Picture of arrest. More than 50 police officers, including members of a special operations unit, surrounded a stilted wooden house in Wang Nam Yen, Sa-nga district, where the fugitives were hiding. Officers secured the area and, after a 15-minute operation, successfully detained the pair without resistance. During questioning, Thanakorn admitted to the killings, citing personal conflicts as the motive. He confessed to shooting Decha after repeated family disputes and later targeting Phichakorn due to tensions involving his younger sister. Authorities recovered a .45 calibre pistol, over 50 rounds of ammunition, and the motorcycle used in the crimes. A CCTV investigation also revealed that Ped had been involved in aiding Thanakorn’s escape. Ang Thong Police Chief, Major General Kitti Sakunee, stated that intelligence gathered from CCTV footage and witness testimonies helped track the suspects. It was also discovered that Ped had left the hideout to buy beer shortly before the arrest, leading officers to pinpoint their location. Both men have been charged with murder, illegal possession of firearms, and carrying weapons in public. They remain in police custody as investigations continue. -- 2025-02-16
  8. Picture from responders. A chemical leak at a cold storage facility in Samut Sakhon has left at least eight workers unconscious, while 24 others suffered symptoms such as dizziness and nausea. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the affected workers to Samut Sakhon Hospital for treatment. At 20:20 on 14 February, reports emerged of a chemical leak at PC Tuna Siam Co., Ltd., located in Moo 4, Nadee Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon District. The leak involved carbon monoxide (CO), a chemical used in fish preservation, which escaped from a faulty valve in the company’s production line. The affected workers, mostly Myanmar nationals, unknowingly inhaled the gas while working, causing them to experience severe dizziness, nausea, and, in some cases, unconsciousness. Emergency teams quickly sealed the CO valve to stop the leak and evacuated the affected employees. Eight workers lost consciousness and were immediately taken to hospital, while 24 others reported mild symptoms and were monitored for further health complications. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the valve failure and assessing whether safety regulations were adequately followed. -- 2025-02-16
  9. Picture from responders. An 18-wheel lorry carrying a full load of soil lost control and plunged into a canal near Chaiyaphum city, leaving the driver critically injured and trapped inside the wreckage. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and spent 40 minutes extracting the unconscious driver before transporting him to Chaiyaphum Hospital. At 10:30 on 14 February, Pol. Lt. Col. Jittipat Kamrangsri, an investigator at Mueang Chaiyaphum Police Station, received reports of a lorry crash at a flood drainage construction site near Modin Daeng, on the outskirts of Chaiyaphum city. Emergency responders from Sawang Kunatham Rescue Unit and an ambulance from Chaiyaphum Hospital were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officials found a white Hino 18-wheel lorry that had veered off the road and crashed into the canal, ending upside down and sustaining severe front-end damage. The driver, later identified as Mr. Namchok, 35, from Udon Thani, was trapped inside the wreckage, critically injured and struggling to breathe. According to Mr. Wiwat, a local resident who witnessed the crash while tending to his cattle, the lorry driver appeared to have swerved suddenly before veering off the road and into the canal. Large amounts of soil were scattered at the scene, suggesting that the driver may have attempted to avoid an obstacle before losing control. Authorities plan to question the driver once his condition stabilises to determine the exact cause of the crash. -- 2025-02-16

  10. Picture courtesy of Customs. The Customs Department in Ranong has authorised the export of fuel to be used exclusively by a support vessel for PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), in accordance with Thailand’s current border and energy policies. The fuel will be used to support offshore oil drilling platforms in Myanmar, as part of PTTEP’s ongoing natural gas production efforts. This approval comes after the Thai government implemented strict measures, including suspending electricity supplies and fuel exports to Myanmar, aiming to pressure the Myanmar government to address issues such as call centre operations and human trafficking. In response to these policies, the Customs Department in Ranong had requested a temporary halt on fuel exports to Koh Sawang, Myanmar, to curb these concerns. However, this restriction does not extend to the support vessels working with PTTEP, which are allowed to transport fuel solely for use in gas extraction in Myanmar’s territorial waters. The fuel is intended to support natural gas production, which will ultimately be used to generate electricity in Thailand. The operation is closely monitored by several agencies, including the Royal Thai Navy, Ranong Customs, Ranong Provincial Commercial Office, and security personnel, to ensure compliance with both national policies and security measures. PTTEP is required to strictly control the shipment process to ensure that the fuel is not diverted for other uses or sold in Myanmar. The government’s approach aims to balance energy production with its commitment to addressing regional security and humanitarian issues. -- 2025-02-16
  11. Picture from responders. A drunk driver crashed his car into concrete barriers after illegally entering the unopened M81 motorway (Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi) in Nonthaburi. The crash caused damage to both the vehicle and motorway infrastructure, with the driver sustaining injuries. At 22:30 on 14 February, police from Bang Yai Police Station and emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were called to the scene following reports of a collision involving a car and motorway barriers. The crash occurred on the outbound section of M81 in Bang Mae Nang Subdistrict, Bang Yai District, near a toll gate. The motorway is closed and not yet operational. Rescuers found a silver Honda Civic with Bangkok registration at the scene, its front end damaged. The driver, 46-year-old Mr. Surachet was found unconscious behind the wheel. He was quickly transported to Kasemrad Rattanatibeth Hospital for medical attention. A security guard stationed at the barrier site stated that he had stepped away momentarily to use the restroom when he heard a loud crash. Upon returning, he discovered that two concrete barriers blocking the motorway entrance had been knocked over, with the damaged car nearby. The driver appeared to be heavily intoxicated, displaying signs of alcohol impairment and vomiting profusely. Rescuers had to wake him before assisting him out of the vehicle. Further investigations revealed that Mr. Surachet had initially struck orange plastic barriers near Kanchanaphisek Road, close to Central WestGate shopping centre, before continuing to drive for another 3 kilometres. He eventually crashed into the concrete barriers in front of the motorway’s toll plaza. Authorities are now investigating the incident and are expected to press charges related to reckless driving, property damage, and driving under the influence. -- 2025-02-16

  13. Pictures from responders. A 51-year-old man had a narrow escaped after his pickup truck veered off a sharp bend and plunged into a deep pond in Pathum Thani. The incident, which occurred in thick PM2.5 smog, has raised concerns over road safety in the area. The incident took place on the western side of Moo 7, Bueng Kho Hai Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. The driver, identified as Mr. Ukrit, was able to swim to safety despite his vehicle being completely submerged in the pond, known locally as the “100-Rai Deep Bend Pond” near Khlong 11 Golf Course. Mr. Ukrit recounted the terrifying moment, explaining that he was on his way home to Lam Sai Subdistrict after dropping off his younger sibling. Due to the heavy smog and the lack of warning signs or road signals, he failed to see the sharp bend ahead and lost control of his white Toyota four-door pickup truck (registration from Bangkok), sending it straight into the water. “I managed to stay calm, rolled down the window, grabbed my mobile phone, and swam out,” he said, relieved to have escaped unscathed. Local residents confirmed that crashes frequently occur at this hazardous curve, yet authorities have taken no action to improve safety measures. Mr. Ukrit is urging authorities to address the dangers of the bend, particularly given its proximity to a deep body of water. “This road is extremely dangerous, with a sharp bend leading directly into a deep pond, and there are no warning signs at all,” he stressed. He has appealed to the relevant authorities to install warning signs, barriers, or other safety measures to prevent further accidents. -- 2025-02-16
  14. UPDATE Picture of the arrest. In a shocking murder case which has rocked Thailand, a man coldly admitted to killing an entire family, only after sharing news reports about the crime on Facebook as if he were merely an onlooker. The suspect, identified as Siwakorn “Note”, allegedly shot and killed 37-year-old Wongsakorn, his wife Natkan, 35, and their seven-year-old son, Sunday, in a dispute over money. He initially denied involvement but later confessed to the brutal murders following police interrogation. According to investigators, Siwakorn had asked Wongsakorn for a loan of over 100,000 baht to invest in agricultural equipment, specifically a drone for farming. When the victim failed to provide the funds after Siwakorn had already placed an order, an argument ensued. The confrontation escalated into violence when Siwakorn retrieved a gun he had previously pawned with Wongsakorn, shooting him dead. Siwakorn then called an accomplice, identified only as “Khao”, to help dispose of the body. He forced Wongsakorn’s wife and son into the front seat of a vehicle at gunpoint. When the woman attempted to seize the weapon, a shot was discharged, striking the child in the head. Siwakorn later killed the mother to silence her screams. After abandoning the vehicle in an abandoned house 10 kilometres from the crime scene, he covered it with a cloth to avoid detection before fleeing. What has caused further outrage among the public is Siwakorn’s behaviour in the aftermath. Despite knowing full well that he was responsible for the deaths, he proceeded to share news articles about the missing family on Facebook, appearing to speculate on their fate like any concerned citizen. One particularly disturbing post included CCTV footage of the victims leaving their home, with Siwakorn mockingly questioning online users who had suggested the family had fled to escape financial troubles. His detached, almost taunting attitude has drawn widespread condemnation. “This is beyond horrifying. He acted like an innocent bystander, even though he was the killer all along,” one outraged Facebook user commented. Another added, “How could someone be this cold-blooded? Especially to a child. The victims’ bodies were discovered inside the abandoned vehicle, leading authorities to track down and arrest Siwakorn. Forensic examinations confirmed that all three had been shot at close range. Siwakorn is now in police custody and faces multiple charges, including murder and illegal possession of a firearm. If convicted, he could face the death penalty or life imprisonment under Thai law. Meanwhile, the case has reignited debates in Thailand over gun control, financial disputes, and the disturbing role of social media in modern crime. Many are calling for harsher penalties for those who commit such brutal acts with apparent indifference. 17. Picture from responders. A minor parking dispute escalated into gun violence at Laem Bali Hai Pier in Pattays, Chonburi, when a delivery driver was shot in the face. At around 08:30 on 15 February, rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Foundation were alerted to the incident, which took place at the pier’s cargo transport area. Upon arrival, they found a crowd gathered around the injured man, 32-year-old Jet Poolsawat, a private delivery driver. He had been shot in the right cheek and was given first aid before being rushed to hospital. At the scene, police recovered a spent bullet casing and an empty gun holster as evidence. According to Jet, the altercation began while he was unloading sandbags and gravel from his six-wheeled truck. Another driver, working for a well-known construction materials company, attempted to reverse his own six-wheeler into a parking space but was obstructed by traffic. Jet approached him to offer assistance, saying he would move his vehicle to make room. However, the other driver became enraged, leading to a heated argument. Jet noticed the man was armed and attempted to flee, but the gunman fired at him before escaping in his truck without making a delivery. An eyewitness, 41-year-old Worawut, confirmed the sequence of events, adding that he had never seen the two men argue before. He speculated that the gunman may have been agitated about something unrelated before resorting to violence. Police investigator Pol Lt Chanant Kesaonbua from Pattaya City Police Station documented the scene and collected forensic evidence. Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage to track down the suspect and bring him to justice. -- 2025-02-15

  21. Picture from responders A devastating road crash early morning on 14 February, claimed the lives of two Cambodian nationals and left two other persons critically injured when a Bangkok-registered taxi collided with a lorry at the Nong Takai intersection, on Chok Chai-Dej Udom Road in Nong Boon Mak District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The collision occurred at 06:05, prompting an immediate response from Nong Boon Mak Police Station, local rescue teams from Sawang Metta Thammasathan Foundation, and medical personnel from Nong Boon Mak Hospital. Upon arrival, responders discovered a green and yellow taxi severely crushed against the rear side of a trailer lorry (registration from Nakhon Ratchasima). The front of the taxi was completely destroyed, trapping four people inside. Rescue workers used hydraulic cutting tools to extract the victims, a process that took nearly an hour. The collision resulted in the deaths of Mr. So Son, 41, and Ms. Seam San, 47, both Cambodian nationals, who were found lifeless inside the wreckage. Their bodies were transported to Nong Boon Mak Hospital for further examination and to await family identification. Meanwhile, the taxi driver, Mr. Peerapol Sakulsri, 48, and another Cambodian passenger, Mr. Pov Thea, 22, suffered critical injuries. Both were transferred to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for urgent medical treatment. According to police investigations, the three Cambodian passengers had hired the taxi from Bangkok, intending to travel to their hometowns in Siem Reap and Prey Veng, Cambodia, via the Chong Chom border checkpoint in Surin province. Preliminary findings suggest that as the lorry was turning right at the traffic light, the speeding taxi failed to stop and crashed violently into its rear. However, CCTV footage and witness statements are being reviewed to confirm the exact sequence of events. Authorities continue their investigation to determine whether driver error, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the collision. -- 2025-02-15

  23. Picture from responders. Valentine’s Day turns horrific in Buriram province when a man shot his wife in the head before taking his own life. Miraculously, the wife survived the attack. The incident occurred in a house in Moo 2, Tha Muang subdistrict, Satuek district. Police and emergency responders arrived to find the body of 55-year-old Sangwan lying in a pool of blood inside the bedroom. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, with a firearm found nearby. The victim’s wife, 53-year-old Ratchanee, a government schoolteacher, had also been shot in the head but survived. She was rushed to Satuek Hospital for urgent medical treatment. According to Ratchanee’s mother, the argument began on 12 February when Sangwan wanted to go out drinking with friends. His wife refused, insisting he drink at home instead. This led to a heated dispute, with Sangwan forcing his wife to leave the house and sleep at her mothers. The situation escalated further on the morning of 14 February when Sangwan, armed with a gun, arrived at Ratchanee’s mother’s house. He smashed a window, prompting the elderly woman to alert the village headman for assistance. Village headman Sao, 53, rushed to mediate the conflict but was unable to calm Sangwan down. Within minutes, two gunshots rang out. Moments later, Ratchanee was seen coming out of the house, screaming for help. She had been shot in the head but was fortunate that the bullet had only grazed across her temple. Later, Ratchanee revealed that her husband had aimed the gun at her head. In a desperate act of survival, she pushed his hand away just as he fired. Believing he had killed her, Sangwan then turned the weapon on himself and took his own life. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case while Ratchanee receives medical care and psychological support. -- 2025-02-15
