Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A Chinese-run office in central Pattaya, suspected of being involved in large-scale real estate transactions for foreign nationals, was raided during the morning of 26 May, by police from Region 2 Provincial Police Bureau. At around 10:00, Pol Maj Gen Teerachai Chamnarnmor, Chief of the Investigation Division of Region 2 Police, along with Pol Col Naratchapong Udomsri and a team of officers, executed a search warrant on a commercial property located in Moo 10, Pattaya. The premises, four adjoining three storey shop houses, were being used as office space for a company allegedly brokering real estate deals for foreign clients, primarily Chinese nationals. Inside, officers discovered several Thai and Chinese employees at work and approximately 30 Chinese customers waiting for service. Sixteen of the employees were identified as Chinese nationals. Preliminary questioning of the building manager revealed that the office operates as a consultancy service for Chinese buyers interested in purchasing homes, land and condominiums in Pattaya. The company reportedly acts as an intermediary in real estate transactions on behalf of Chinese clients. Authorities separated staff from customers and instructed all involved parties to present relevant documentation for further inspection. Investigators are currently examining whether any laws have been violated, particularly regarding work permits, business licensing and compliance with foreign ownership regulations. If clear legal infractions are uncovered, those responsible will face prosecution under the law. Police have not released the name of the company pending further investigation. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. An incident has occurred in the mountainous forests of Lampang, where a local villager lost his life after falling from a steep cliff while foraging for seasonal wild mushrooms. According to reports, the man was collecting hed thob mushrooms, a popular and highly-prized delicacy that grows abundantly in the region during the rainy season. The incident took place in a remote forested area of Sop Prap Subdistrict, Sop Prap District, Lampang Province. Officials from the Wiang Kosai National Park, including the park’s head, Mr. Prawit Jaikam, confirmed the incident via a public statement and images shared on social media. He noted that numerous villagers are currently entering the forest to collect wild mushrooms such as hed thob, hed khaiand other native species, which are either consumed locally or sold for income. The victim reportedly slipped and fell from a steep cliff, hitting his head on rocks in a stream bed below. Rangers from the park’s Sop Prap protection unit (Unit VSO.5) were dispatched to the scene to assist in the rescue operation. The injured man was carried out of the forest and rushed to Sop Prap Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. “This is a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous these forested and mountainous areas can be,” said Mr. Prawit. “We urge all local residents and foragers to take the utmost care when venturing into such terrain. The risk of falling or suffering serious injury is real, especially in slippery or steep areas.” Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-05-26.

Picture courtesy of CH7. In a deeply disturbing incident, the body of a newborn baby boy was discovered abandoned beside a rubbish bin near a dormitory in the Khu Khot area of Lam Luk Ka District on the morning of 25 May. Police Lieutenant Colonel Thienchai Mai-iem, Deputy Investigation Officer at Khu Khot Police Station, received the report shortly before dawn and immediately alerted his superiors. He arrived at the scene accompanied by forensic officers from Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital, detectives and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. The body was found on tiled flooring between two buildings on Phahonyothin 83 Road, laid next to a bin in a narrow alleyway. The baby boy was reportedly no larger than the palm of a hand and still had his umbilical cord attached. Medical examiners estimate that the infant had been dead for at least eight hours before discovery. Mr. Pornpipat, a volunteer from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, stated that he had received the initial report from a member of the public around 05:30. Police officers attempted to review CCTV footage but were unable to identify any suspects, as the nearest camera was facing away from the scene. According to a local waste collector, who was the first to find the body, he had been searching for recyclable materials in the area. As he approached the bin, he noticed the lifeless infant and promptly alerted nearby residents before continuing on his route. Mr. Chokchai, the caretaker of the nearby dormitory, reported that scavengers often visit the area. Upon being informed of the discovery, he notified the condominium’s management and subsequently contacted the police and emergency services. Lt. Col. Thienchai collected forensic evidence from the scene and is coordinating with the investigative team to gather witness statements. The baby’s body has been transported to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police are now urgently working to identify and locate the infant’s mother to bring her in for questioning and medical attention. Adapted by Asean Now from CH7 2025-05-26.

Picture from responders. A 27-year-old Myanmar national died instantly after he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a guardrail on a curved overpass bridge, in Pattaya, Chonburi province. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 16:05 on 25 May, on the overpass, leading to motorway number 7, off the Sukhumvit Road junction. Police Lieutenant Colonel Rattaphon Wannana, Deputy Inspector of Highway Police Division 1, Subdivision 8, received the emergency report and promptly coordinated with volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation, who rushed to the scene. At the crash site, officers discovered a red Honda Click motorcycle bearing Rayong licence plate, lying damaged on the road surface on the overpass. Long scrape marks were evident along the both the road and the guardrail, indicating the severity of the impact. Below the overpass, approximately four metres beneath, the body of the victim, identified as Mr. Maung Phu, was found. He had been thrown from the elevated road and died upon impact with the ground. Rescue personnel quickly covered the body with a white sheet and cordoned off the area to prevent unauthorised access. Eyewitness Mr. Watcharin Promsit, 30, told authorities he was driving on the overpass when he saw the victim speeding and attempting to overtake a pickup truck. As the motorcyclist approached a curve, he lost control, struck the guardrail and was flung into a curve warning sign before falling to the road below. Police have documented the scene and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the precise cause of the incident. The body has been transferred to Pattaya Pathomkhun Hospital, where it will be held until relatives provide the necessary documentation to claim it. Authorities are continuing their investigation. Dentist Resuscitates Crash Victim in Dramatic Roadside Incident Picture courtesy of Workpoint. Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A local dentist is being hailed as a hero after helping save the life of a man who suffered cardiac arrest following a motorcycle crash just outside his clinic. Dr. Winai Jeenno, a specialist dentist and owner of Future Dental Clinic on the main road near the Nakhon Ratchasima bus terminal in Nang Rong District, sprang into action, after hearing a loud crash outside his practice. He rushed out to find 24-year-old IT officer Wanchakree, also known as Ohm, lying unconscious and unresponsive on the road following a high-impact collision with a pickup truck. Realising the victim had a weak pulse and had stopped breathing, Dr. Winai immediately administered CPR. Using one hand to support the young man’s head to prevent spinal injury, he used the other to perform chest compressions. After several minutes of compressions, man began breathing again. Emergency services soon arrived and transported Wanchakree to Nang Rong Hospital, where he received further treatment and regained full consciousness. In a gesture of gratitude, the victim’s mother, Mrs. Thua, 46, visited the clinic later accompanied by her daughter bringing a gift basket and offering their sincere thanks. “It’s as though the dentist gave our family a second chance at life,” she said emotionally, explaining that she had lost both her husband and youngest daughter in a traffic crash in 2014. “I don’t know how to thank him, except to wish him good health and success in everything he does.” Dr. Winai, who has taught CPR and basic life support techniques, said he had previously resuscitated patients in hospital settings, but this was the first time he had performed CPR outside a medical facility. “I have a duty to help wherever I am. Every life matters,” he said. The rescue has gained widespread praise on social media, with many calling Dr. Winai a “hero dentist” for his quick thinking and life-saving actions. The driver of the pickup truck has reportedly visited the victim and is cooperating with authorities. A meeting to discuss compensation and further legal proceedings is scheduled for 26 May. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 14-year-old schoolboy has tragically drowned after reportedly suffering a cramp while swimming at the popular Mae Phu Waterfall in Laplae District, Uttaradit province. The incident occurred on the afternoon of 24 May, casting a shadow of grief over what began as a joyful day out with friends. Police Lieutenant Colonel Nareerat Apithanaphimpimkul of Laplae Police Station received an emergency call at around 17:00 reporting a suspected drowning. Rescue divers from the Uttaradit Songkroh Foundation were immediately dispatched to the scene. The incident took place at the main pool area beneath the waterfall, a common swimming spot for visitors. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found a group of anxious teenagers, both boys and girls, waiting at the water’s edge, visibly distraught. Divers were deployed swiftly to the deep pool where the boy had last been seen. Within a short time, they recovered the body of a boy wearing only shorts. Despite immediate efforts to resuscitate him, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as “Ta,” a 14-year-old student (Mathayom 2) at a private school in Mueang District, Uttaradit. According to his friends, Ta had arrived at the waterfall with a group of more than ten classmates earlier in the day. The group began swimming around noon and paused for lunch at approximately 13:30. It was around this time that friends noticed Ta was missing. They initially searched the surrounding area and the nearby motorcycle parking spot but found no sign of him. As concern grew, they contacted adults who then alerted emergency services. Before rescue teams arrived, some friends attempted to dive and search for him but were hindered by the depth of the water. Upon retrieval of the body, it is believed that Ta may have suffered a sudden cramp while swimming, causing him to sink unnoticed as the group continued to play. Authorities have issued a reminder for the public, especially young swimmers, to exercise caution when swimming in natural water sources, particularly during group outings where safety can be compromised by distraction. The incident occurred around 08:00, on 25 May in Samo Thong Subdistrict, Tha Chana District, Surat Thani Province. Four others were injured in the blast, two men and two women. Police investigators, led by Pol. Lt. Chinakrit Sawatdiwong from Tha Chana Police Station, responded to reports of an explosion outside a single-storey cement house in Village No. 1. Emergency rescue workers from the Chon Saratha Surat Thani Foundation also attended the scene. The deceased, later identified as Mr. Surapong Thongnak, was found lying face-down in front of the house. Blood from multiple wounds pooled around his body. A nearby parked car had shattered windows, believed to be caused by the force of the explosion. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Surapong had come to the residence in an attempt to reconcile with his former partner. Witnesses said he was visibly agitated and allegedly intended to stab her with a pair of scissors inside the house. However, local residents, who had been sitting outside drinking coffee, intervened and stopped him. Following this confrontation, Mr. Surapong returned to his white Honda Civic, retrieved a grenade of unknown type and pulled the pin before hurling it toward the group in front of the house. The grenade failed to detonate. As he attempted to throw a second device, it exploded prematurely in his hand, killing him instantly and injuring four bystanders. All injured individuals were taken to Tha Chana Hospital for treatment. Forensic officers from Region 8 were called in to investigate the scene and confirm the type of explosive used.
