Led by the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD), officers arrested Mr. Anusak, who faces charges of possessing counterfeit goods for sale. The seized items bore illegally replicated trademarks belonging to officially registered brands, which had been used without authorisation to deceive consumers. Search warrants were executed at two key warehouse locations, one in Maha Sawat Subdistrict, Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, and another in Soi Charoen Nakhon 14, Khlong Ton Sai Subdistrict, Khlong San District, Bangkok. The raids followed an investigation that uncovered the covert distribution of counterfeit automotive parts, including air filters, oil filters, and fuel filters. The warrants were granted by the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court after officers had compiled substantial evidence pointing to the illegal trade. During the operation, police were joined by authorised representatives of affected companies, who confirmed that the confiscated goods were counterfeit and infringed upon registered trademarks. The suspect was immediately detained, and the illegal items were handed over to investigators from Subdivision 1 of the ECD for legal proceedings. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridech, Commissioner of the CIB, along with Police Major General Thasnapoom Charupratcha, Commander of the ECD, and Police Colonel Phuwadet Chulakasewi, Superintendent of Subdivision 1, ECD. The suspect fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle after robbing the victim. The incident occurred at approximately 19:30 on 10 April in Soi Bongkot 18, Moo 5, Khlong L 1-2, Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District. Police were alerted to the scene, where they discovered the body of a Myanmar national lying on his back with stab wounds to his left shoulder and right rib cage. His 43-year-old wife was found weeping while clutching his body. Scattered nearby were personal belongings including a cap, a pair of shoes, a pocket knife, a pair of glasses, and a small amount of cash. Initial investigations revealed that the couple had been riding separate motorcycles when the woman, who was leading, was ambushed by a lone male assailant who emerged suddenly from a wooded area. The attacker struck her, causing her to fall. The husband, riding behind, stopped to help her but was then stabbed twice by the assailant, who seized valuables from his bag and stole his black motorcycle to make his escape. The suspect abandoned his own motorcycle in the nearby woods. Preliminary reports suggest the attacker may also be a Myanmar national and known to the victim. It is believed there may have been a prior altercation between the two. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track the escape route and gather more evidence. Authorities from Khlong Luang Police Station, forensic officers, and rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation attended the scene, and the body has been sent to Thammasat University Hospital for post-mortem examination. Chudapha Buasri of Mueang Krabi Police Station receiving the report. Officers, along with forensic investigators, hospital staff and rescue workers, arrived at the scene, a two-storey wooden teacher’s residence within a local technical college in Sai Thai subdistrict, Mueang district, Krabi province. Inside the ground-floor bathroom, the body of Ms Sukesorn also known as “Teacher Orn,” aged 41, was found lying face-up on the floor, wearing only a towel. Her black Toyota Vios, registered in Surat Thani, was parked in the adjacent garage. Ms Sukesorn held the position of Deputy Director of Academic Affairs at the college. Initial investigations found no signs of foul play, struggle or missing belongings. No visible injuries were discovered that suggested assault, and the house was locked from the inside. It is believed she had been dead for 2–3 hours before being found. Her body was transferred to Krabi Hospital for a full post-mortem examination. A security officer at the college, Mr Apichart Taweerat, was the first to discover the body. He was instructed by another deputy director to check on Ms Sukesorn after she failed to arrive at the Songkran accident prevention centre opening event that morning. He found the house lights still on and the door locked from the inside. With no response to repeated calls, he notified college management. Eventually, colleagues forced open a rear window and searched the house, finding her unmade bed before spotting her legs through the bathroom door. Emergency services were immediately contacted. According to her colleague, Mr Sitthiporn, Ms Sukesorn had recently travelled to Surat Thani with another teacher to arrange passport documents in preparation for a post-Songkran holiday trip to Penang, Malaysia. Mr Sitthiporn, who drove them, dropped her off at the college residence on the evening of 10 April. He noted she seemed well and gave no indication of illness. “She was a dedicated and hardworking person, much loved by colleagues and staff,” he added. “It’s a shock to all of us.” Police believe Ms Sukesorn may have slipped while showering early in the morning, striking her head on the bathroom wall. Officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) have arrested two members of a transnational drug trafficking network linked to a Nigerian drug lord, following an intensive investigation into heroin smuggling operations. Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittaya Sriprasertphap, commander of the CSD, directed the operation, led by Pol. Col. Anusorn Thongsai and Pol. Lt. Col. Montri Songkhong. The arrests targeted Ms. Jutatip Chuaydoo, 33, and Mr. Saknarong Onruti, 39, both of whom were detained in Trang province under arrest warrants issued by the Phuket Provincial Court. Ms. Jutatip was wanted under warrant no. จ.143/2568, dated 13 February 2025, on charges of conspiracy to commit drug offences, possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to sell, and consumption of a Category 1 narcotic. Mr. Saknarong was sought under warrant no. 66/2568, dated 28 January 2025, for heroin trafficking. Prior to the arrests, police had seized 7 kilograms of heroin, valued at over 7 million baht, at a hotel in Phuket. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery that the drugs were linked to a trafficking ring headed by a Nigerian national known only as “Mark.” The syndicate had been smuggling heroin to third countries including Hong Kong and India. Evidence suggests that the suspects had previously been hired by Mark to transport heroin from Vientiane, Laos, to international buyers, earning 100,000 baht per trip. With sufficient evidence of their involvement, authorities obtained warrants and eventually located the pair in southern Thailand. Both suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation. They have been handed over to Thalang Police Station in Phuket for further legal proceedings. -- 2025-04-12

A retired Thai army official was seriously injured yesterday after a freak incident, in which a loose wheel from a pickup truck fell from a bridge and struck him on the head while he was riding a motorcycle beneath it. The incident occurred at approximately 15:00 on 10 April, beneath the Bang Khu Wat Bridge in Pathum Thani province. Police and emergency services were alerted to the scene by local residents who witnessed the dramatic event. Upon arrival, officers from Mueang Pathum Thani Police Station and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation discovered a white Isuzu pickup truck parked on the descending lane of the bridge. The front left wheel was missing, having become detached while the vehicle was in motion. The driver, Mr. Nantawat 49, was unharmed. Roughly 200 metres away, underneath the bridge near a U-turn point, responders found a Honda motorcycle lying undamaged on the roadside. However, its rider had sustained head injuries. He was identified as Lieutenant General Anusorn Pichaironnarongsongkram, 62, a former Director-General of the Army Documentation Department. He had lost consciousness at the scene. His helmet was split, indicating the force of the impact. Paramedics from Pathum Thani Hospital administered first aid and transported him to the hospital for further treatment. Mr. Nantawat recounted the incident to police, explaining that he had been en route to an air-conditioning repair shop when he heard a loud noise from the front of his vehicle while ascending the bridge. The vehicle began to shake, prompting him to steer it carefully to the side. Moments later, a motorcyclist approached to inform him that the missing wheel had fallen from the bridge and struck someone below. Eyewitness Ms. Kanokporn Janpitak, a nearby resident, said: “I was sitting in front of my house and looked up to see the wheel falling from the bridge. It hit the motorcyclist right on the head as he was riding underneath and making a U-turn. The motorcycle toppled over, and the wheel rolled to the side of the road. I ran over and found him unconscious, with his helmet broken. I called 191 immediately to get help.” Police are continuing their investigation into the mechanical failure that caused the wheel to detach, and possible legal charges. -- 2025-04-12

Local police from Bannang Sata Police Station were alerted by the village head of Moo 2, Bacho sub-district, of a shooting involving an unknown number of armed assailants. The attackers opened fire with unidentified automatic weapons, targeting the victim who was applying fertiliser to durian trees on his land. The deceased has been identified as Mr. Marosadee, 49, a senior volunteer with the Bacho District Volunteer Defence Corps. He was reportedly on leave at the time and tending to his family’s durian and rubber plantation when the attack took place. He died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, primarily to the head. Initial reports suggest the attackers, believed to be at least two individuals, used military-grade firearms in the assault. After the shooting, the suspects allegedly stole Mr. Marosadee’s .38 calibre sidearm before fleeing the scene. Authorities from both the police and district volunteer forces responded swiftly, securing the area and transporting the body to Bannang Sata Hospital for a forensic examination. Police have not yet confirmed a motive and are continuing to gather evidence. They will also interview the victim’s family and close contacts. However, one potential line of investigation points to the ongoing unrest in Thailand’s southern provinces. The situation is particularly sensitive given that Mr. Marosadee’s father was also the victim of a fatal shooting in a similar ambush some years ago. Security has been heightened in the area as police work to determine whether this killing is linked to broader insurgent activity or represents a targeted personal attack. The natural phenomenon, resembling a tornado over water, formed visibly at sea near the yacht mooring area in Chalong sub-district, Mueang district. Though it remained offshore, the waterspout was clearly visible from land, prompting a mixture of awe and alarm among those nearby. A foreign tourist who witnessed the event managed to capture video footage on a mobile phone, showing a towering column of rotating water spiralling upwards from the sea’s surface. The footage quickly spread online, drawing widespread attention due to the rarity of such events in the area. Authorities have confirmed that there are no reports of damage to yachts, speedboats, long-tail boats, fishing vessels, or coastal property. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The fire broke out at around 04:10, at the Chok Pranee Recycling Factory, located in Soi Chom Thong 13, Soi 8. Police from Bang Mod Station responded to reports of a fire affecting residential properties in the area and quickly coordinated with fire crews from Daokanong, as well as rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. Upon arrival, authorities found large flames and thick smoke engulfing the rear section of the factory. The blaze spread rapidly over an estimated area of one rai. Firefighters took over an hour and half, to bring the fire under control and prevent it from reaching adjacent homes. Jinda Rakkhong, 60, the factory caretaker, told officials that the fire appeared to have started at the back of the premises and spread quickly. She confirmed that no one was inside the affected area when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire remains unknown. At approximately 22:30 on April 10, local authorities were alerted to a brawl near the entrance arch of the walking street. Emergency services arrived to find 36-year-old Kittipong Parittipong with a swollen, bloodied face and visible injuries. He was given first aid at the scene by volunteers from the Sawang Ariya Rescue Unit before being transferred to Nakhon Nayok Hospital for further treatment. While medics were attending to the victim, a visibly intoxicated man forced his way through the emergency personnel and began shouting at the injured party. The pair engaged in a loud and unintelligible exchange, both under the influence of alcohol, prompting rescue workers to demand the aggressor step back. He refused, continuing his tirade until police arrived and separated the two. The injured man identified his attacker as his former father-in-law, pointing him out to officers. When asked about the nature of the assault, Mr Kittipong claimed he had been repeatedly kicked, saying, “It was all feet, no weapons.” In a brief exchange the alleged attacker insisted, “I am still his father-in-law – not ex.” He stated that he had been drinking nearby when he spotted his son-in-law with another woman. Claiming to act out of anger on behalf of his daughter, he confronted the man. According to him, the altercation began when the ex-son-in-law brandished a broomstick, prompting him to retaliate violently. Eyewitnesses, 20-year-old Nattachanon Hamanee and a friend, said they were fishing nearby when they heard loud arguing followed by what sounded like metal or wood being struck. They rushed to the scene and found the victim bloodied on the ground and the aggressor still yelling aggressively, apparently unable to control himself. “We tried to separate them, fearing the fight would escalate,” one of the young men told reporters. “Even after we intervened, they kept shouting at each other until the police arrived.” When asked what the fight was about, the witnesses said, “We couldn’t catch what they were saying, they were both drunk. But the injured guy didn’t fight back. He took all the blows.” Police have recorded the statements of all involved and informed the victim that he may pursue legal action once released from hospital. -- 2025-04-12

A former Thai League footballer has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his long-time friend in a shocking act of violence fuelled by suppressed resentment over being belittled. The incident occurred at 22:30 on 10 April in a house in Moo 1, Samphao Lom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Police and forensic teams were called to the scene, where they discovered the lifeless body of 29-year-old Mr Chitsanucha, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head, chest and abdomen. Three spent 9mm bullet casings were recovered from the scene. The victim’s mother, who rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, collapsed in shock and required immediate medical attention. She told officers that her son frequently visited the house, which doubled as a motorcycle repair shop run by his friend. She also noted that the pair had a history of arguments, with a notable falling out two years ago, although they had since reconciled. Police identified and arrested the alleged shooter, 32-year-old Mr Mukthas, who lived in the house and remained at the scene following the incident. He was found in possession of the firearm believed to have been used in the attack, a 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition. Preliminary investigations revealed that the men had been close friends for years. However, Mr Mukthas had reportedly harboured resentment towards the victim, who frequently made condescending remarks about his age. On the night of the incident, another argument erupted, during which Mr Mukthas allegedly snapped, retrieved his pistol, and fired five to six shots at his friend, killing him instantly. Mr Kunakorn a friend of the suspect and a fellow former footballer, arrived at the police station to visit Mr Mukthas but was unable to see him due to the ongoing investigation. He told reporters that he had known Mr Mukthas since their footballing days, which included stints in Thai League 2 and 3. “He’s quiet, reserved, good at fixing motorbikes, and usually keeps to himself,” said Mr Kunakorn. “He never mentioned having any problems with the victim. We were even supposed to play football together soon.” Police are currently holding Mr Mukthas at Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station for further questioning. Forensic officers have collected fingerprints, gunshot residue, and DNA samples as part of the ongoing investigation. The victim’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani for a full autopsy before being released to his family for religious rites. At approximately 10:30 on 10 April, Mr. Apichai Khoraksa, 36, walked into Nam Som Police Station in Udon Thani province and calmly informed officers that he had just killed Mr. Auychai Thongnud, 50, and wished to surrender. Initially doubtful of the confession, officers questioned Mr. Apichai, who provided specific details about the crime scene. Police then escorted him to the location, a roadside near Ban Champa Thong village in Ban Yuak subdistrict, where they found Mr. Auychai’s body, lying face up with severe head wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon. Mr. Apichai told investigators that he and the deceased had a history of animosity. The dispute reportedly stemmed from an earlier incident in which Mr. Auychai allegedly shot Mr. Apichai’s dog with a homemade gun. On the day of the murder, the two encountered each other on a public road and began arguing once again about the dog. Mr. Auychai denied the accusations and allegedly challenged Mr. Apichai to a fight. In a fit of rage, Mr. Apichai struck the victim twice on the neck with a machete he had been carrying. Police confirmed that Mr. Apichai showed no signs of mental illness and had no history of psychiatric treatment. He was described as calm and cooperative during the investigation, handing over the weapon used in the attack. Authorities have charged him with intentional murder. Police Captain Chayut Saengmanee of In Buri Police Station was alerted to the crash and arrived promptly at the scene. Officers discovered an 18-wheeler Isuzu lorry with Kamphaeng Phet registration plates, that had collided with two pickup trucks parked by the roadside. The first was an Isuzu registered in Sing Buri and the second, a Toyota registered in Lampang. Both pickup trucks were severely damaged. The body of 39-year-old Surachit Veerawut, a roadside tyre technician, was found at the scene. He had been in the process of repairing a flat tyre when the collision occurred. Mr. Kritsada, 39, the driver of the Toyota pickup, told police he was transporting flour to Lampang province when one of his tyres became flat. He had called for a mobile repair service, and the technician was working on the vehicle when the lorry crashed into them. The lorry driver, 35-year-old Mr. Ekaphon, admitted to police that he had experienced a sudden blackout while driving. “The next thing I knew, I had already hit the vehicles,” he stated.
