Picture courtesy of SiamChon In the early hours the morning of 11 April, a domestic dispute at a private residence in Pattaya escalated into a violent altercation, leaving two individuals injured and requiring emergency medical treatment. At approximately 02:35, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received a report of a violent altercation at a house located in Moo 6, Soi Mab Ya Lia 26/3, Nong Prue m, Bang Lamung. Rescue volunteers were immediately dispatched, alongside officers from Nong Prue Police Station. Upon arrival, emergency responders found evidence of a drinking party that had ended in chaos. Broken glass littered the floor and blood stains were visible throughout the house. Two injured individuals were discovered at the scene. The first victim, identified as Mr. Sarayut 38, had sustained a head injury from a blunt object and suffered multiple cuts to his foot from broken glass. The second victim, Ms. Sompit 30, had a laceration to her neck, reportedly caused by a sharp object. Both were given first aid at the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent care. According to statements from neighbours, the couple had been hosting a party involving heavy alcohol consumption. An argument reportedly began when Ms. Sompit complained to her husband about the loud music. In a fit of drunken rage, the husband allegedly smashed a beer bottle on the floor and threatened his wife with a shard of glass. Ms. Sompit resisted and, in self-defence, struck her husband over the head with another bottle. Onlookers intervened and promptly contacted emergency services. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident. Charges may follow once both parties are medically stable and able to provide full statements. -- 2025-04-11

Elderly German Extorted by Fake Policeman in Pattaya, Police Investigate A 77-year-old German national has filed a police complaint in Banglamung, alleging that a man posing as an undercover police officer extorted money from him at his home in Naklua, Chonburi province. Pictures from Facebook. A 77-year-old German national has filed a police complaint in Banglamung, alleging that a man posing as an undercover police officer extorted money from him at his home in Naklua, Chonburi province. The victim, identified only as Mr Udo, reported the incident to investigators at Banglamung Police Station with the help of a translator. He stated that a 34-year-old Thai man, known only as Mr M, visited his residence dressed in plain clothes, but resembling that of an undercover officer. Mr M claimed to be part of the Region 2 investigation unit and accused Mr Udo’s Thai girlfriend of using illegal drugs. According to Mr Udo, Mr M threatened that his girlfriend could face arrest unless he paid 8,000 baht as a “protection fee” to avoid prosecution. To bolster the deception, Mr M handed over a sticker bearing the logo of the Royal Thai Police and instructed Mr Udo to place it on his door, claiming it would deter any police units from conducting further checks. Fearful and believing the threat to be genuine, Mr Udo complied and paid the demanded amount. The ruse began to unravel when Mr Udo’s stepson attended a local fair and discovered that similar police-logo stickers were being sold openly for just a few baht. Upon discussing the matter with the family, Mr Udo realised he had likely been deceived and promptly returned to the police station to lodge a formal complaint. Following the report, investigators summoned Mr M for questioning. He denied impersonating a police officer, claiming instead that he regularly played football with off-duty officers and owned police-branded attire as a result. Mr M insisted that the payment was simply a fee for “watching over the area” and preventing local youths from causing disturbances near Mr Udo’s home. Despite his denial, Banglamung Police remain sceptical of Mr M’s explanation. However, due to a lack of conclusive evidence at this stage, officers have documented the suspect’s details and released him pending further investigation. Authorities have confirmed that they will continue to gather evidence and, should sufficient proof emerge, legal action will be pursued without exception. -- 2025-04-11

Picture courtesy of Khomchadluek. A retired police officer shot and killed a motorcycle taxi leader in a shocking act of violence in front of a passenger during the morning of 10 April. The incident occurred at the entrance to a community in Soi Phetkasem 91, Moo 13, in the Om Noi subdistrict of Krathum Baen, Samut Sakhon province. Authorities from Krathum Baen Police Station responded promptly to the scene, where they found the victim, identified as 57-year-old Sommai, a motorcycle taxi driver and head of the “Phuyai Prasert” motorcycle service. He had been shot twice, once in the left side of his chest and once in the right, causing fatal injuries. Sommai’s body was discovered next to his Yamaha motorbike. An eyewitness, 48-year-old Nuanjan, told investigators that she had called Sommai’s motorcycle taxi to take her to work. As she was about to sit on the back of the bike, another motorcycle taxi rider, whose name is unknown, cut in front of them and warned her not to get on the bike. The man then pulled out a handgun and shot Sommai twice before fleeing the scene on his own motorcycle. Nuanjan fell from the bike in the ensuing chaos, suffering a minor injury to her thumb before calling the police. Initial investigations revealed that the assailant was 63-year-old Prajua, a retired police officer who had taken up a second job as a motorcycle taxi driver after his retirement. According to police, Prajua and Sommai had been involved in a long-running dispute over passenger transport in the area, which had escalated over the past month. Despite mediation attempts by third parties, the conflict reached a tragic conclusion today. After the shooting, police visited Prajua’s residence, but only his wife and children were present. Authorities have launched an urgent manhunt to apprehend the suspect, and further legal proceedings are underway. -- 2025-04-11

Picture from responders. A crash in Chai Nat has claimed the lives of three family members, a grandfather, grandmother, and their 3-year-old granddaughter, after their motorcycle was struck by a car. The incident occurred before noon on 10 April, on the Chai Nat-Mueang Chai Nat Road at a U-turn near a housing development in the Kaothapra sub-district of Mueang Chai Nat district. According to the police, the family was travelling on their motorcycle when they attempted to turn across the road. A purple sedan, heading towards Nakhon Sawan from Suphan Buri, collided with them at high speed as they veered into its path. The victims, identified as 63-year-old Thong, 65-year-old Somkuan, and 3-year-old Nathaphot, were found with severe injuries. Thong had a severed left foot, Somkuan had multiple fractures, and the young girl was unconscious with several broken bones. Emergency responders performed CPR before rushing them to Chai Nat Hospital, where they were all later pronounced dead. The collision caused the motorcycle to skid for more than 100 meters, while the car came to a halt, damaged at the front. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle made a sudden turn into the path of the oncoming car, leaving the driver of the sedan, a 44-year-old woman, with no time to react. The car was unable to avoid the impact due to the short distance and speed involved. Ms. Mew, 42 years old, the driver of the sedan, was questioned and stated that she was an inspection officer of a large department store company. Today, they traveled from Suphan Buri Province to inspect the work at the Nakhon Sawan branch. Authorities took the car driver in for further questioning and have begun legal proceedings. -- 2025-04-11

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A dramatic scene unfolded in Sai Noi district when a man leapt onto the bonnet of a moving car driven by his partner, who was attempting to leave home with her two children following a heated domestic argument. The incident occurred around 22:00 on 9th April. Police at Sai Noi Station received multiple calls and video footage from concerned witnesses reporting a shirtless man clinging to the bonnet of a moving sedan travelling on Bang Kruai–Sai Noi Road. The footage sparked alarm among road users and onlookers. Police quickly responded and located the vehicle. A motorcycle patrol intercepted and forced the car to stop safely. The man then climbed down from the vehicle without resistance. The man was identified as Mr. Thewin who lives with Ms. A, a woman with two children from a previous relationship. The couple reportedly reside in a housing estate in Sai Noi. Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had an intense argument earlier in the evening, sparked by Mr. Thewin scolding one of Ms. A’s children. The confrontation escalated, prompting Ms. A to pack her children into her car and drive away. Seeing her attempt to leave, Mr. Thewin reportedly tried to block the vehicle and, in desperation, jumped onto the car bonnet to stop her. Ms. A continued driving out of the estate with him still clinging to the front of the car, shocking passersby. After police calmed the situation, both parties were taken to Sai Noi Police Station for questioning. Mr. Thewin reportedly apologised and gave officers a written promise not to allow emotions to drive his actions again, pledging to treat his partner and her children with respect. The couple were later seen returning home together in the same vehicle, the one at the centre of the bizarre incident. -- 2025-04-11

An incident unfolded in Loei province during the morning of 10 April, when a police officer was shot and killed while investigating a drug-related suspect in a rubber plantation. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Boonkerd, fled the scene after fatally wounding the officer. At around 08:00, a team of four police officers from the Loei City Police Station received intelligence about Boonkerd’s involvement in drug activities, particularly methamphetamine. They arrived at a small hut in the rubber plantation in the village of Ko Phai Thon, where Boonkerd was suspected to be staying. Upon spotting the officers, Boonkerd attempted to flee but was pursued by the police. During the chase, he turned and opened fire, shooting Lieutenant Colonel Phairoj Phromin, the deputy head of the police station’s operations unit, twice in the chest. Phairoj collapsed at the scene. Boonkerd then continued to flee approximately 20 metres, firing another shot at the officers. Police returned fire, but the suspect managed to escape into the rubber plantation. The remaining officers rushed to Phairoj’s side, but he was already unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, Phairoj was later confirmed dead. Authorities were alerted, and emergency services arrived, but it was too late to save him. In response, Deputy Provincial Police Chief Thanutep Rithluechai quickly arrived at the scene and organised a manhunt with special commando and investigation teams. The police have been combing the area and surrounding plantations in search of Boonkerd, who has a criminal history related to drugs, including two prior convictions. He was recently released from prison. The incident has left the local police force shaken, and the authorities have vowed to bring Boonkerd to justice. The search continues as the police work to apprehend the fugitive. -- 2025-04-11

Picture captured from CCTV. A 13-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a truck in a hit-and-run incident in the Rai Rot subdistrict of Don Chedi, Suphan Buri. The driver of the truck, after colliding with the boy, fled the scene, leaving the family to deal with the aftermath, including the heartbreaking financial burden of arranging a funeral. The boy’s death was reported on the Facebook page “Je Moi v+” after a call for help regarding the incident. Local residents and social media users soon began efforts to track down the truck involved, urging the authorities to take swift action. On the morning of 10 April, the truck owner, 43-year-old Jutamas, accompanied the driver, 40-year-old Sutthin, to Don Chedi Police Station, where they turned themselves in. Sutthin explained to investigators that he was driving when the boy unexpectedly fell from his motorcycle, colliding with the truck and causing the fatal collision. He claimed that in the panic of the moment, he did not stop to check on the boy but drove off instead. Sutthin admitted that he had never been involved in an accident before and was frightened, but did not intend to avoid responsibility. Jutamas revealed that she only learned of the crash after Sutthin returned home and informed her. She expressed her initial shock, questioning why he didn’t stop at the scene. Her family runs a small business, and the truck had been transporting duck droppings when the crash occurred. Jutamas added that, after discussing the situation with the insurance company, she contacted the police and arranged for Sutthin to turn himself in. The family’s struggles were compounded by the lack of funds to cover the funeral expenses for the young boy. Jutamas reassured that her insurance would assist with compensation, and that Sutthin would be visiting the boy’s family to offer condolences. The authorities are continuing their investigation and will take further legal action against Sutthin as required by law. -- 2025-04-11

Picture courtesy of Matichon. Authorities in Rayong have raided a Chinese-owned restaurant in the Nikom Phatthana district after receiving intelligence that it was employing a large number of illegal foreign workers, including Chinese and Myanmar nationals, to serve Chinese clientele. The operation was conducted by the Immigration Police Division 3, under the direction of Police General Phanumart Boonyalaksakul, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Police Major General Piti Nithinantseth, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau. They acted on a tip-off from a confidential informant regarding the illegal employment at the restaurant, which is named Huixiang Restaurant, located in the industrial zone of Nikom Phatthana. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Chinese man, Mr. Guoqing, aged 30, and a group of Myanmar nationals working inside the restaurant, serving Chinese customers. Mr. Guoqing was responsible for taking orders, assisting customers, and collecting payments. In the kitchen, the officers found a Chinese chef, Mr. Wang, aged 48, preparing meals for the customers. Both Mr. Guoqing and Mr. Wang had entered Thailand on tourist visas and were unable to provide work permits. Further investigation revealed that the restaurant’s owner, Ms. Jing, a Chinese national, had employed Mr. Guoqing, Mr. Wang, and the Myanmar workers illegally. Ms. Jing, however, was found to have returned to China at the time of the raid. The officers also discovered that Chinese customers were paying for their meals using Chinese banking systems, including WeChat Pay and Alipay, as well as a Thai bank account in Ms. Jing’s name. As a result, Mr. Guoqing and Mr. Wang were arrested, along with four Myanmar workers, on charges of “working without permission or working beyond their permitted rights” in Thailand. The group was taken to Nikom Phatthana Police Station for legal processing. Police Major General Chairit Anurith, Commander of Immigration Police Division 3, stated that while the charge carries a fine, those arrested will have their permission to stay in Thailand revoked and will be blacklisted, barring them from re-entering the country. They will also be deported to their home countries. The Immigration Bureau continues to enforce strict measures to monitor, investigate, and prevent illegal activities, including the employment of foreign workers without proper authorisation. -- 2025-04-11

Fatal Pickup Truck Crash Near Roi Et Airport Claims Life of 43-Year-Old Man A road crash near Roi Et Airport on the afternoon of 9 April, resulted in the death of a 43-year-old man after the pickup truck he was driving lost control and collided with a roadside post. Picture from responders. A road crash near Roi Et Airport on the afternoon of 9 April, resulted in the death of a 43-year-old man after the pickup truck he was driving lost control and collided with a roadside post. The incident occurred at approximately 16:00 on the Roi Et–Phon Thong Road, just before the traffic lights in front of the airport. According to initial reports, the pickup truck driver veered off the road at high speed and slammed into a large directional signpost with significant force to wrap it around the post. Emergency response teams from Nakhon Saket EMS, Asok Thawatch EMS, the Phra Ratchawachirawitthayakom Foundation, Roi Et Highway Police Rescue, and Thawatchaburi Hospital were dispatched to the scene. Rescue personnel found the driver trapped inside the mangled remains of the vehicle and had to deploy hydraulic cutting equipment to extract the body. The driver, later identified as Mr. Thawatchai Thani, was pronounced dead at the scene. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact and was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The crash site was cordoned off while authorities conducted an initial investigation into the cause of the incident. Weather conditions were reportedly clear at the time, and the road surface dry. Police are continuing their inquiry into what may have led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, with speed under consideration as the most likely cause. The force of the impact left the vehicle severely damaged and caused significant destruction to the road signage structure. Road crews were later dispatched to carry out temporary repairs and ensure the area was safe for traffic. This incident adds to a growing concern about road safety in Roi Et province, where a number of serious accidents have occurred in recent months. Authorities are expected to review safety measures and signage placement in the area as part of their ongoing response. -- 2025-04-11
