Thailand braces for 38-degree heatwave with potential thunderstorms
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't have an a/c yet.... But it's getting to be a very tempting proposition. 36 in my room last night and all the fan does is ensure you stay hot! A spray bottle of water helped a bit. From what I've read on the forums, inverter a/c's are the way to go -

Danish man denies allegations of theft at first court meeting
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So it's been 3 months in captivity and his defence lawyer hasn't had time to visit him yet! The Dane is probably feeling quite relaxed with all that..... Hell don't bother coming to see me this year as I won't answer the door anyways. Incredible. -
Phuket cracks down on illegal operations in Chinese restaurants

And who's brown envelope did the 'fine' go into? 🤔 -
Yep. I find Flash Express the worst of those I use. Don't turn up and say they do. No phone call. Kerry are a bit unpredictable and don't always call. Lazada have been quite good. I seem to have the same driver now and he knows that once I get the txt saying he will be arriving within the hour, that I'll be waiting within eyesight of the gate. Damn good fellah actually.

Prime Minister of Thailand proposes pollution mitigation fund
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Before we set up a fund let's make up some new committees to have meetings and discuss what's needed. We'll get back to you in a year with our findings... Which will probably recommend to form another committee... Seems like this place is similar to the current weather.... full of hot air -

Ready-to-Drink Fresh Milk Prices Approved to Increase
Korat Kiwi replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The raw product was from NZ, however 'additives' were used in China to 'boost' the product to be used as child/infant formula. This was done without the parent companys' (Fronterra) notification. Some think it was a ploy/scam by an opposition corporation to undermine Fonterras reputation. It did cause a drop in market shares.... -
There are some decent Soundbar out there. Try and get one with a seperate subwoofer. Most subs nowadays are BT so you don't need to wire them in.... And you can adjust them so you don't sound like the local hoon with his duff duff boom box. I have a Polk Audio set up back in NZ and it was/is fantastic. My Yamaha stereo rarely got used as a result. I don't think 1500 baht will get you much unfortunately.

Blooming heck... 20 metres of rain is quite a downpour. Did you see Noah preparing his boat? It could be a sign? Just joking, obviously a 20 minute downpour. -

Geezus, I'm a bloody kiwi and haven't twigged onto this yet! Best I get me some pronto. I've been buying the All Season pasteurised milk in the 2 litre round plastic container. At 93 baht it's quite good. In NZ you pay anywhere from 67 to 100 baht. -

Joint Thai-US operation to salvage sunken HTMS Sukhothai begins
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Some how methinks the Chinese may have already done a survey of the wreck. It was over a year ago and unless the put some proximity sensors around the wreck to keep tabs on visitors... Who's to say who has or hasn't already visited the site. It's a while to be sitting in the brine. Doubt much in the way of bodies will be remaining. Hopefully they will be able to salvage something. -
Air quality in most of the country to improve for a week
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
For your information, that's what I did. Moved from Chiang Mai and now reside in Korat. It's a bit warmer and the smoke isn't as bad. But for those that can't move, my point stands. -

Love the headline: Air Quality in most of the Country to improve for a week. And then what? Back to crap? Oh that's right, we'll just have to suck it up. -
Suvarnabhumi Adds More Staff To Prevent Malfunction
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
When are we going to see more of these 'smart' terminals, where all you need to do is scan your passport and away you go thru immigration? I have seen some in the VIP/invited guests area so what about us peasants huh? With all this technology surely these machines can raise alarms for overstayers and the like. Last time I came in there were no officers at all in the 'goods to declare/duty' halls. I was rather surprised by that. Things immigration have moved forward.. Just. But nothing to really speed up the process. Bit like the local immigration office. Great staff and very helpful but talk about paperwork for the sake of paperwork. Where the heck do they store all this stuff? Scan it and then burn it? Otherwise they would need a huge warehouse. The mind boggles.... 21st century huh? -
