Four Frenchmen Lost at Sea Found Safe on Thai Island

It was a piece of green that they had, not Greenpeace. -
Come come now, this is Thailand. Do you expect government organisations/companies to pay for their own maintenance? And if you the user pay for said maintenance, do you actually expect them to perform this maintenance? Most maintenance occurs once it breaks or once there is a fatality. It's just the way it is. So where does all the money go? Well there is admin fees. New cars for senior staff Emergency fund for when things do go wrong. Not much left after that sorry.

Did you hear about the blind guy that got a cheese grater for Christmas? He said it was the most violent book he's ever read. -
Yes this was covered before and not that long ago. Most bloggers mentioned that NZ Mainland is a good cheddar cheese. With the vintage having the best 'bite'. Available at most Makro outlets. Anchor make a 2kg block but it's a lot milder than the Mainland Vintage.

Foreigner Attacked in Phuket After Alleged Assault on Transwoman

Stilleto shoes are a dangerous weapon. I remember getting a few stitches in a local hospital when a couple of cops came through in a hurry. Apparently a guy tried to molest a girl/young lady. She reacted by smacking him in the head with her Stilleto shoe. Left a good hole and blood was everywhere. They found him hiding in a hospital toilet... blood trail was a giveaway. -

Thai mobile phone provider wants too much money

Yep, marketing to the fore. Once you get past all the collateral noise and do a bit of digging there are some reasonable packages out there. Everyone has different requirements and unfortunately the big players throw lots of info in your face in the hope you will buy a package that gives them more profit (Even if you don't need it) It pays to shop around. -

Phuket Motorbike Accident Claims Life, Sparks Safety Concerns

Yep during my military days, when in the field on training exercises we learnt quickly to get sleep when available. You never knew when you'd pull a 24hr plus shift. But falling asleep when in charge of a motorbike... That's a new one. -
What documents is the juristic condo person required from the owners.
Korat Kiwi replied to arick's topic in Chiang Mai
Interesting reading about this condo management. I don't own a condo so never knew about these rules. However about 2 months ago I had to visit a visa agency in Pattaya. This required a 2 night stay. No problem, planning and preparation done via Booking. Com but when we arrived in Patts we're advised their cleaner had stuffed up and given our room to another customer. Here's the strange/funny part. Don't worry we have a condo across the road you can use. If anyone asks say you are renting for 30 days. I didn't understand then why we had to say that. Now it's a bit more clear. -
Kiwi Arrested for Illegal Use of Fireworks on Thai Beach
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I think it was only yesterday that it was reported that authorities were starting to clamp down on excessive noise and use of fireworks in Phuket. My my they certainly moved quickly on this. What about the sellers of fireworks? Remove the source then you automatically remove the problem. I've never been to Phuket, seems like I'm not missing much.- 66 replies

I suppose it might work but a 10% reduction doesn't seem much. I'd think any bubble type cover with a reflective surface would work. Preferably a silver surface (like a mirror). There are possibly other options but then the cost will go up accordingly.

Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Departure tax used to be collected before you went through into departures. From memory you got given a ticket to say you'd paid. This allowed you to pass thru into immigration departures area. Some tourists got caught out as they would give away their loose Thai change forgetting about departure tax. I expect this tourist tax will go towards anything but tourists. -

Time for me to head back to Specsavers! If it was that simple, arrival/tourist tax could be done the same way? Although many here would be up in arms cause they aren't 'tourists' as they stay here long term. -
Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If its that urgent, it gets added to the airfare. Then it's upto the airlines to forward the $9 back to Thailand. Handling fees will mean actual amount received by Thai authorities will be about $1.50 I was glad when Thailand got rid of that bastard departure tax. What a pain that was.
