  1. So, this caused a 1 degree drop. So the recent rises are just a rebalancing after this natural disaster?
  2. No, not true. They probably did their own research using a simple Google search and learnt that it was about average, so a "too good to be true" red flag would not have been set. I happen to know that domestic helpers get well paid in Israel, a lot more than in, say, Hong Kong. So I took a look at the average pay for a farm labourer and found that 7,500 Shekel (70k THB) per month is the average. https://www.erieri.com/salary/job/crop-farm-worker/israel Patong2021's comment above is a different red flag of course. Then again, Mr. Thanayut, 36, from Sakon Nakhon said that he trusted them because others had apparently gone abroad successfully through this process. Key word is 'apparently' of course.
  3. Or what political party they are affiliated to.
  4. For one reason or another, I happen to know a few police people in the UK. The police are expected to follow the political decisions made by their bosses, who get their direction from the Home Office. That's the prime reason there are some crazy arrests and prison sentences for a few folk who say/type something that people don't like. Your average copper wants nothing better than to be able to put away thieves and many other criminals who make the lives of ordinary folk a misery. The entire criminal justice system is a shambles, a shambles that starts with the politicians that leaves the police carrying the can. The Daily Mail have come at this from the wrong angle, like so many other media outlets. It (nearly always) is not the police's fault, it's their lords and masters in the Government, and weak senior management inside of the police for not suggesting that those lords and masters 'foxtrot romeo oscar' and to concentrate on getting the right capacity in the Prosecution Service, courts and prison service that allows the police to do what they want to do; lock the scumbags up.
  5. No. What's the point if the recommendations are not followed through. Oh, that sounds a bit negative of course, as inquiries often have very positive outcomes, but they've had a relevant inquiry so I don't see the point in repeating. Time they got on with the actual work without fear or favour. Every ethnic group in the UK will happily see criminals locked up for a very long time, especially for this type of crime. https://petition.parliament.uk/archived/petitions/327566 - here's a link to the previous inquiry.
  6. How about setting some rules that, for example, mean the platform is charged a $1m for every post that encourages suicide or illegal drug use? Probably a million reasons why this wouldn't work of course...
  7. Sending a lantern up in Phayao is just as crazy as sending a firework up in Pattaya. Won't ever stop though.
  8. A few weeks ago I went to Milford Sound. I took a tourist boat trip through the Sound, which nudged out into the open sea. Not too far mind you. As the captain said, Milford Sound is in the Roaring Forties, with virtually nothing between there and Argentina. The wind, when we got exposed to it, was pretty brutal. What this guy attempted seems absolutely crazy to me. If he'd tried to get to, perhaps, Raglan, then maybe he'd still be here and he'd still have crossed the Tasman? RIP.
  9. I've not done it myself, but I got a friend who has and is still alive and kicking with no injuries. Apart from the mental ones from seeing a couple of his mates perish in front of him. Glad you are still here to reply to my post.
  10. It sounds like you are using 5G or 4G data plan? Try switching off the power to your router, count to 10 then switch back on. If that doesn't cure it then check your data allowance, maybe you've gone beyond their fair usage cap and the speed is throttled. All above fails or you are unable to understand why the spreed is throttled, then yeah, best to call True.
  11. I don't have a massive issue with what they did. I wouldn't do it of course, but the didn't harm anyone. And it's safer than being a passenger in a minibus in Thailand!
  12. Yeah, until experts all believe he is no longer a threat to the public.
  13. Well done to the FBI for stopping this terrorist. Especially well done to the father; that guy's a hero although he probably won't feel like it just now.
  14. Have a look in China. Plenty of amazing places to visit in northern China that are well connected by high speed train. E.g. Chongqing, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu & Xi'An There are good China travel Facebook groups (e.g. China Travel Guide & Visa News). Some countries can get a 90-day tourist visa now, you can check on visas for yourself (https://www.visahq.com/china/tourist-visa-l).
  15. 6000 Baht per room per night is about 1400 HKD per room per night. That's really expensive!
  16. Can they not re-use one of the boats that brought the 'refugees' to the UK? I'm sure some of their victims would be happy to help pilot that boat, and help these individuals با ماهی ها شنا کن.
  17. This is an absolute disgrace. No, not the Guardian Angels of course, it's the fact that they feel they need to get back out there. And that they seem so welcomed by normal New Yorkers. Time for a bit of zero tolerance? I'm sure the police will be okay with that, but what about the rest of the justice system? Can it handle it? I think not. Zero tolerance isn't a new thing in NYC of course, Rudy Giuliani got it going with every positive results. https://www.nystlegal.com.au/from-little-things/ I know a few Brit coppers, and they all would be happy to follow a zero tolerance policy too. But they know that politically it'll never happen as politicians, prosecutors and the prison system are too weak.
  18. Horse. Door. Bolted. I also have 100% confidence that fire safety checks will now be carried out and enforcement actions taken. With regular checks and prison sentences for those who won't comply.
  19. Pretty much every politician, in every country in the world.
  20. From the photo it looks like there's been little or no track maintenance.
  21. It seems to have gone quiet on that horrible bus crash that happened on October 1st? I've done some searching and I can't find much, if anything, since October. Has it been forgotten, like so many other tradegies? https://thethaiger.com/news/national/senator-urges-probe-into-bus-fire-killing-23-in-sing-buri https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Thailand_school_bus_fire
  22. Probably been going on for years, so there'll be a significant war chest to cover this loss. More drivers shall be found, new routes planned and the operation shall continue. Maybe the Thais could work with the Myanmar authorities to stop this before it gets to Thailand? Trump's efforts on this with Canada have led to some action (on the surface, we shall see what the reality is in the coming months/years).
