Poor journalism by the person who wrote the Telegraph article. It clearly is not the end. But the goalposts have been moved and I don't like that (and neither should I as my parents bought their council house). Would have been better if more houses had've been built by previous governments (of either colour) and better resources had been put into managing immigration by previous governments (of either colour). Or Thatcher had not introduced this 'right' in the first place.

In Hong Kong, just before the COVID restrictions kicked in, the wearing of a mask was banned for the same reason as NYC is looking at. When COVID kicked in, mask wearing became mandatory. For quite a long time, both wearing a mask and NOT wearing a mask was illegal. The wearing of a mask during a protest was the illegal part for clarity, not illegal away from a protest, but that didn't stop the mickey takers pointing this out.

I think you are completely correct. The key word you used is 'stop'. I've not seen any article that says that masks "STOP" transmission. All of the reviews of mask usage I read are very clear in stating that masks REDUCE THE RISK. But not 'stop'. I'm not going to waste time posting links, anyone can do a simple Google and find them for themselves. One of the articles I read calculated, by comparing someone with a mask and without a mask, that a properly worn, well fitting masked stopped 94% of droplets that could carry a virus. That is NOT 'stop'. A lot of the articles are less clear on a mask wearer getting infected, maybe because infection can be through droplet contact with a person's eyes rather than through mouth of nose. This all said, far too many stupid people decided not to wear a mask and not keep their hands clean as they decided it wouldn't 100% stop infection. Idiots. My own personal experience was that during all the time I had to wear a mask I never got any viral infection. As soon as I stopped wearing a mask I got several colds in the period of a few months, plus one bout of COVID and a bout of flu. Helped by copious amounts of beer (somehow I can't find a link to a clinical trial though), my immune system has caught back up and I have not had a cold or any other infection for many months. So, for my own personal clinical trial, beer is clearly the answer. Cheers!

Indian doctor accused of killing wife in Pattaya bathtub drowning

Circumstantial. Based on the OP, good luck proving the murder and that it was not suicide. -
Totally agree. A company I used to work for had these policies, and indeed won awards for having these policies. Did they follow them though? Of course not. They hired just enough to fool the woke brigade, but when it came to promotion it was their mates or 'yes men' (nearly never women by the way) who got promoted, nearly never the best person. Personally, I don't give a cr@p about how someone lives their life or any other of the woke bovine excrement, I was always more interested in happy staff and decent profit. Has worked well for my company.

Auschwitz is one of the most sombre and sobering places I've ever been to. Also at that same 'level' are there Killing Fields museums in Cambodia, and the museums in Hiroshima/Nagasaki. The Hiroshima/Nagasaki museums did a wonderful job of explaining the impact on ordinary folk, and I got to meet one of the survivors in Phnom Penh. At Auschwitz we had a Jewish/German guide who spend a fair bit of time expressing her frustration at commonly held views that it was only Jewish people killed there (she pointed the finger at Israeli schooling). Indeed, according to the guide, the first person killed was a German, non-Jew, thief. Plenty of Poles, Roma/Sinti, and Soviet POWs were killed. About 25 thousand prisoners of other nationalities were imprisoned there too, many of whom died. It's good to see this new addition to the Auschwitz museum, another layer of that horrible period of history that so many nations seem to have forgotten. I have been to more uplifting places too by the way! Maybe not the time to mention Soi 6 though, and what got 'uplifted' there.

In a lot of countries the relevant authorities would be monitoring the condition of tress and felling the riskier ones before they kill someone or damage property. But, of course, TIT. -
Oh. Is Fox an unbiased, fair and balanced news/fact outlet? I've read way too many threads on this platform to believe that they are both fair and balanced. I know that the BBC is way far from perfect of course. Who is the unbiased news/fact outlet that all of us on AN might have a decent amount of confidence in? It's not Fox. Obviously. But perhaps it is, but depending on an individuals's political persuasion? You say it's not BBC, I will not disagree with you. Way too many people don't agree to what MSNBC says. I'd that factual or political? Please advise.

As someone from a family with a history of heart issues, I've looked into diving as a possible retirement pastime ('keep out of the pub' activity...) Here's one article I found - https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9018859/ "Scuba presents a formidable cardiovascular challenge by combining unique environmental conditions with the physiologic demands of underwater exercise." "Among older divers and those with underlying cardiovascular risk factors, these physiologic changes increase acute cardiac risks while diving." Looks like I'll be staying in the pub... Or I look for something else of course...

Could the uncensored video be shown to every teenager in Thailand as a start to showing them the impact of stupid driving? Might start the process of reducing such stupidity? Even if 1 new driver gets 1% more sensible... We had uncensored photos shown to us by the UK police as part of a basic motorcycling class at school when I was there. Pretty graphic. The copper who took the class was spouting on about being defensive and careful, saying we'd likely die whilst the car had a small dent. It had an effect on most of us.
