Yeah. Ever heard of the saying '2 wrongs don't make a right'? Well in this conflict, ongoing since at least the middle of last century, it's been tens of thousands of wrongs and still not one right. Yeah, the Israeli retaliation would be seen as 'right' by some, not going to argue against that, but ultimately it's just another wrong. In a very long line of them. Oh, and the planners and executors of the Oct 7th attacks were very, very wrong too. But some would think that is a 'right'.

I've seen this lack of maturity elsewhere in Asia amongst teens/20-somethings. I've chatted with quite a few locals where I live about this, and it's almost universally blamed on overly protective/domineering parenting and aggressive/bullying school teachers. Not sure how this aligns with Thailand, but I've heard a few similar stories about the schooling. The school system here is the number one reason for families to emigrate to Canada/Oz/UK; those are normally the parents who want their children to mature into well-rounded human beings who can think for themselves rather than being robots. The one big difference is that the children are all well aware of the unacceptability of violence, backed up by a very proactive police and criminal justice system. This is obviously very different to Thailand. It's incredibly unusual to hear about similar murder/suicides like the one in the OP, but the suicide rate is very high amongst teens/20-somethings. I've got a friend who is in the police here; the number of suicides she has to attend to in her patch is truly depressing in its scale.

The biggest surprise would be that anyone is surprised by this. These people make the rules. They could change them to totally ban all gifts of any value. Of course they won't. All at the same time pensioners on the edge of poverty will lose their winter allowance, whilst the MPs keep theirs.

Not much inflationary pressure on fines in 12 years, must be the only thing that hasn't risen in price!

I've no evidence to suggest this is false. What I do know, seen with my own eyes, is that the catholic church boosted school fees by an extraordinary amount just when all this started to kick off. But those weren't 'donations' of course. They were school fees from hardworking American families who felt (ahem, were bullied into believing that) a Catholic education was best for their children

Agree, never liked paying the licence fee. But I mainly object to the ridiculous numbers of layers of management in the BBC, far more of a waste of money than the presenters (not justifying or condoning by the way). All those managers, yet so many high profile people got away with some pretty heinous acts. But I still watch BBC News as it's generally unbiased and they try to be accurate. Plenty of folks could raise items where they believe they are not of course. And so can I, but when compared with MSNBC, Fox etc. they are angels.

Was not shown (in my memory) on the likes of BBC1 or 2. It was normally shown on BBC News, so if you were not able to see that channel then no surprise.
