  1. Surely there can't be any corruption? I'll get my coat... 🤭
  2. The Aussie Liberal Party didn't get around to registering more than 100 Liberal Party candidates in NSW, meaning around 50 serving politicians automatically lose their livelihood. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly84x8rejjo https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-15/nsw-liberal-party-shields-resign-council-election-nominations/104227072 Can anyone think of a bigger screw up in the history of politics? I don't think electing Obama, Trump or Boris Johnson should be included.
  3. Anyone fancy meeting up for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon beer, dinner and nighttime beer every day for the next few days? I reckon around Victory Monument in Bangers should be the best place... Ought to be quiet and peaceful... Just like 2006 and 2014...
  4. Reminds me of some of the a$$holes in the UK overturning cars in the recent riots. I got much, much more respect for that elephant though.
  5. Polarized as ever. Is there any balance out there in keyboard warrior-land? Don't expect it from me by the way...
  6. They can steal some more bikes to help pay them back.
  7. Might still be cleaner than the Seine?
  8. And the mental health harm of joining in Forums like this? 🤪
  9. Maybe the project forgot to include the need for any risk assessments?
  10. In Hong Kong in 2020, during the not so peaceful protests and the start of COVID, face coverings were both mandatory and illegal at the same time. The bit in quotes above were true there too.
  11. I wonder if the Grand Hotel signposted in the photo has family rooms?
  12. I reckon Windsor Davies in the classic British sitcom 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' summed it up quite well...
  13. Whilst I've got no problem with these people getting jail time, I find it a bit odd that UK politicians criticise the Hong Kong Government for introducing laws that could jail peaceful protestors, whilst doing exactly the same themselves.
  14. Was he accountable for the 0.59 point shortfall in the Pattaya City anti-corruption assessment score?

  16. And still plenty of corruption.
  17. I found this web site a few months ago. I thought it put a different perspective on this topic, although obviously still very generalistic and not everyone would agree! https://www.philippinesredcat.com/filipina-girls-vs-thai-girls/
  18. I went to Palawan earlier this year, easily the best food I've had in the Philippines. Fresh grilled seafood, and the vegetables I had seemed good quality. But I think it's the exception that proves the rule. That said, easily the worst food I've had in Asia, by a long way, is in Myanmar. The thing I dislike about a lot of Filipino food is that it's fried, but there's some that isn't. In Myanmar, I couldn't find any local food that wasn't fried, and fried in poor quality and old oil. Again, to your point, it's a lot to do with poverty I think.
  19. I walked down Sukhumvit last night. I swear I saw some Government officials playing banjos badly, with caps in front of them and signs saying "Please Give Generously".
  20. This is not 100% wrong, but close to it. I 100% agree that exactly what worked in Jockland might not work in every area of England. I somehow think London might be a bit different to Newcastle, Norwich or St Austell, just the same as Glasgow is wildly different from Oban. Hope the politicians can get their heads up, look at what's worked elsewhere (or indeed not), and the national Government gives the support, tools and resources to allow local politicians to find a plan for their local areas.
  21. Let's compare the quality of journalism in the quoted article, when compared by the Telegraph's reporting quality. Oh, let's not waste time.
  22. I'm the same opinion as you. Several years ago I did a 4-night cruise as part of someone's 50th birthday celebration. I really didn't enjoy getting dressed up for dinner, didn't like the crowds, didn't want to go with the crowds on a shore trip; I generally felt trapped on a huge money-making machine. What I did enjoy was sitting on a balcony in the fresh air, drinking wine and watching the sea go by. Not for me again.
