  1. They are even said to refrain from laughing easily; deeming it an act of the foolishness.
  2. Motive behind the attack. As that stabber was simply cracked. Need any more reasons?
  3. Thai TV dramas well reflect on that. Their stories often involve millionaire household with huge mansio. And the source of their income is totally obscure. They vaguely admire those people's fortune and lifestyle; utterly convinced it is the result of their excellent merit during previous life. That is Thai's common illusion/perception of the (super)rich . A kind of negative aspect of their Buddhist belief(accumulated Good Points will better their rebirth status).
  4. That Fat Tax has no real impact on me. I usually don't go to those western (fast)food establishment. And not a big fan of those oily deep fries either.
  5. An alien's few wrong words and a lots of pain? Very thrilling World Class Family Friendly Resort...
  6. That boy's father: A trained career soldier. Right man in the Right Place at the Right Time. Otherwise, we might have seen another headline.
  7. Clear chicken and vegetable soup (with radish, spinach, bean sprout, and basil). Seasoned with chicken soup stock, salt, pepper, and soy sauce.
  8. On one day, the passenger attacked taxi driver. In some other time vice versa. And so on and on and on. Phuket looks like a rough place...
  9. Soon, her wallet will grow even bigger; with the new tax on cooking oil and salt as reported late last year. Bangkok Post - Taxes on salt and fat considered
  10. Good to be loyal to own favorites. Instead of compromising with the lesser close cousin. Money is meant to be spent on what people value.
  11. Good to be loyal to own favorite. Buying something not really fond of is the waste of money.
  12. I presume you might even much less impressed with Malaysian street food(compared with Thai ones). According to my experience in Penang over a decade ago. I have never suffered any stomach aches or food poisoning with Thai street food(from the roadside vendors) since my settlement late 2005. But I got an awful memory in Penang, Malaysia back in 07. I experienced a weeklong diarrhea after eating their soup noodle in the street(it was also horribly tasteless).
  13. It solely depends on where you check in for flight to Thailand. As far as I experienced, I often needed to do so(especially when the airline ground staff was less experienced and lacking Thai visa knowledge). While I didn't have to when they know well about it. Looks like No Set Standard regarding the need for Outbound ticket. No wonder what I met isn't always the same as what you met. So not much point to argue it. End of the story.
  14. Looks very filling and healthy bowl of noodle with various vegetables. Is the big round thing a sliced radish?
  15. Mu Pings are mostly sold by small individual vendors(family-run or alone by the seller). Do you really believe they got enough manpower to make up fake meat that tastes like pork with the fat and gristle/cartilage? Sounds so unrealistic. Even though big manufactures can make it with sophisticated food processing technologies and factories.
  16. What makes you say so? Any solid factual backings?
  17. In other words, it doesn't serve to gradual takeover of Thailand by CCP?
  18. Outbound ticket thing may be different from place to place. But in my case, c/in(airport outside Thailand)staff often asked me for not having departure ticket(from Thailand) . So I needed to explain that I have retirement visa and re-entry permit. Then they understood. Regarding sufficient cash in the pocket, it once happened to me more than 15 years ago in Mae Sai(while I was a visa-runner before I get my current non-immigrant O retirement). The immigration officer asked me to show THB 10000-.
  19. Thank you for your concern. But I don't eat it street food all the time. And I never eat any seafood in the street. Instead, I often cook my meals at home(over 90% of the time). Street gourmet is something like for a change.
  20. Another version of 10B Thai street ice-cream: Stick type. Often seen in Sunday night market between Thae Pae Gate and Wat Phrasing as well.
  21. Most ice-cream sellers in the street, serve 10B portion in cone. But that vendor put it on the plastic bowl(top cover of the disposable cup). It is not a factory-packed stuff. So I call it Street Food.
  22. Question of 20K is more likely in case of land border(e.g. Mae Sai) than airport. Airlines commonly question the passengers for not having onward ticket. As they are liable to bring them back to the port of departure in case they are denied entry at their port of arrival(even though Thai immigration rarely ask for outbound pax).
  23. Beautiful Mu Ping(charcoal grilled pork) and sticky rice on banana leaves. I often eat them in the open air market while grocery shopping. Very moment feeling great to be alive.
  24. According to the link you attached, the presence of China cops outside their border functioning as the tool of intimidation of own national(overseas Chinese yet to become naturalized to the country of their residence). Sounds even more horrifying and upsetting; openly violating the law enforcement sovereignty of the respective country even in the first world.
