It’s not legal to use it recreationally, but it’s also not illegal, so it’s not a crime, and the police couldn’t care less right now. I also eat mainly out of the 7-Elevens in Japan too when I'm there. It's the same like 7-Elevens in Thailand. Lots of healthy food options and much better than eating mainly rice dishes or deep fried stuff in Japan, which is mostly what's served in many of the Japanese restaurants there.
