Is This Going to Happen
Zaphod Priest replied to baansgr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
In the past these sorts of changes have been grandfathered. Probably nothing to worry about for people already with a visa, even if these rumours are true.- 81 replies

At 224 lb and height of 6'3" he's a fine specimen of humanity. Plus he can ace an incredibly challenging cognitive ability test. He'll be around for a while yet. Let's hope he lives long enough to find himself behind bars. That said, the moment he finds himself in a courtroom he'll undoubtedly suddenly develop the need for a wheelchair and claim dementia.

My attempt to pay voluntary NI contributions hasn't gone smoothly. Last October I 'phoned the Future Pension Centre. They checked my record and told me to complete the online form "Apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions when abroad", which I did. I then checked when I could expect to receive a reply, and discovered it would be in January. In March I submitted a complaint saying that I hadn't received a response. After a bit of toing and froing I got details of the bank account through which I would pay and told to give my NI number and name as the reference - no PIN number. Now they've got my money, how are they going to know which years to allocate it to? And how should the process have worked? Any thoughts? Thanks

It sounds like she's not trading in shares, but in some sort of high risk derivative - maybe options or CFDs (contracts for difference)*. This is totally inappropriate for someone of limited means and experience. It might be safer to wait until the casino is built here and put your entire life savings on "red". She needs to stop this nonsense and channel her energies into finding some small business opportunity that will give her an income. * I can't however, square that with "you win or lose after a fixed time, in her case a ridiculous 1 minute." Perhaps she's on some extremely dodgy gambling website, gambling on very short term stock price movements?

You're missing the point. The Immigration arrival system used to be linked to the 90 day reporting system, so Immigration would know when a 90 day report was due, and one could do the report online. They "upgraded" their systems sometime ago, and the link was broken. Since then the first 90 day report after reentering the country has to be done in person, which is a pain. I'd rather hoped that with the new system the link would be restored and one would be able to do such reports again online.

Retirement to Marriage Conversion
Zaphod Priest replied to MamaSan's topic in Gay People in Thailand
Sorry. I didn't know you were a pauper. -
I'm pretty sure that "are you a lard-arse" is not one of the questions when you book a flight. How, then would they know that the individual is corpulently challenged and needs two seats?

Retirement to Marriage Conversion
Zaphod Priest replied to MamaSan's topic in Gay People in Thailand
Why would you want to do that? The paperwork requirements for an extension based upon marriage are much more onerous than based on retirement. Plus you'd have to drag your spouse to Immigration each time.
