Why can't we all just get along? As long as your a law abiding person, spend your income/ retirement benefits here, have many friends among the Thai's, does having 800,000 baht in a Thai bank make you a better person, of course NOT. Why do you have to be judged by your financial status any where on earth (except your home country of course) in order to retire/stay there? Just because someone has 800,000 baht in a bank account means they spend more here, than someone who has half that amount or less. Correct, the entire planet system is corrupt & rigged against us by the evil within.

I would love to speak Thai better, I even went to a language school, BUT I have always had a poor short & long term memory which has plagued me all my life. Compared to English it's like the Thai language is backwards like: instead of saying "Go Here", they say "Here Go", which is quite confusing for me.????

Just another stupid fad, kissing men with beards is a itchy situation.????

My how times have changed, when I was growing up in the 50's, military, Hells Angles and an occasional dumb kid had some. Now it's like a plague, including metal piercing and everyone and his brother has a beard. The tattoo, body piercing pain thing is beyond me?????

My Thai foster daughter is the extreme exception who I started teaching English to when she was 3 years old & now she's 17, ranked as the top English student among 150 students in M3 at the Kajonkiet International school in Kathu, Phuket! I met her when I was a English teacher at Kajonkiet in 2002. She has a promising future indeed! In the final 1st term English test this year, she got 48 out of 48 correct, 100%, A+!!!!!!!!!

30,000 baht in wages per month for a Thai citizen is a really good middle class living, which would certainly be adequate enough for a foreigner here, BUT like many countries, GREED & WEALTH is the name of the game concerning us Farangs.

So now two options for Yanks: Either put 65,000 baht in the Thai bank each month, OR consider moving to Mexico!!!

Putting 65,000 baht in a Thai bank account each month is much easier than taking a chance of having 800,000 setting in an account, being you never know what some bank person might do with your account. ????

Wearing seat belts is dangerous and motorcycle helmets messes up my hair, driving as fast as possible to the next stop light is the rule of the road. Cutting in traffic and swerving is a normal way of driving. Blocking half a lane to get in traffic is every ones right. Even the motorcycle police have riders wearing no helmets. Wild West on the roads, everyone Loves It!

No secret that Thai's discriminate against dark skinned African people, so saying dark skin only is just another way of hiding the truth.

Jail them for at least 30 days before being deported and fined, just to give them a taste of the Bangkok Hilton. Total trash from the UK, look at his shirt, enough said.

If you know the right people, it's easy to come by!

Apparently he hasn't been informed that a copy of his passport/visa will do. And talking to loud to officers is bad manners.

SHA-ZAMMM, mental break down, YIPES!

Freaking out during low season, NORMAL!

Blind spot, you've got to be joking. Most use the basket on the motorcycle to put the helmet, and when it's on their head the strap isn't tightened, just hangs there. And 99% believe seat belts are dangerous. I usually drive my car between 40-50 in the slow lane as they scream by me usually going over 80, cutting others off, most never using turn signals. Get use to it, this is normal for Thailand.

I'm sure the maker of these shoes did not in anyway choose these colors because of the Thai flag.

Why would your home country government care about you? You left and retired in Thailand, so most of your pension is being spent in Thailand not your home country. This is just another way of the UK officials turning their back on you and giving you zero support from the UK embassy here.
I have experience just how unsupportive the US embassy is here, as they wanted to throw me out of Thailand early on over a minor infraction in my visa, even though Thai immigration said it was an easy fix, just to get a document paper from the US embassy, fill it out and have the problem fixed, which the US embassy tried to say I stole a copy of the document a high Thai officer gave me, to show to get one from US embassy. It cost me $30 in all and the US embassy dudes wouldn't apologize for being dead wrong.

Nothing like working hard all your life to have a nice retirement income which would satisfy Thai immigration for a retirement visa, then your home country stabs you in the back and refuses to verify what is rightfully yours. Just another way to try to keep you in your home country and destroy your dream of Paradise.

Don't forget that even though there are thousands of law abiding foreigners living here who can't afford the extreme amount needed in a bank to get a retirement visa, and there are many lawyers helping them out, and understanding immigration officers giving honest foreign retired people a break, that it's a win-win situation for everyone, and the income the retiree's do get goes into Thailand by buying food, renting an apartment/house, buying/renting a vehicle, buying clothes & etc. It not only would be a sad state of affairs for not only the farangs, but also the Thai's providing the services if thousands, maybe even millions had to leave. If the Thai government would lower the amount needed in a bank to say half what it is for a retirement visa, Thailand would be much better off because of it!

I thought this has been in effect for years, I do remember it said No Smoking in public. Just throw it on top of the pile of laws NOT enforced.
