The American exchanged angry words with the Thai, possibly even showing his anger first. When will westerners ever learn that you don't cause any Thai to loose face in public. Westerners don't understand Thai's, and Thai's don't understand Westerners, so you want the Thai's to change to a western way of thinking, just like that, Never Happen. You have to do as the Romans do, to be able understand the Thai thinking, I live in a village where there are maybe 1% westerners, and everyday I'm able to analayze my Thai neighbors thinking patterns.

May I suggest that only you speak English and your wife only speak Thai to your child. Your wife's English possibly like most Thai's is more Asian/English, than true English spoken in 1st English speaking countries. I'm a retired teacher and when I was teaching at a bilingual school in Phuket, I met a 2 year old girl who eventually became my foster daughter, living with me on weekends. She is now 13 years old and speaks the most perfect English in her bilingual school. While living with her grandma during the 5 day week, she only speaks Thai with her.

I sent for some special herbal creme from the US and it took over 2 months to get to me, then 2 weeks ago I also sent for 2 additional items from the same company, and received the package in 2 weeks. I've been living in Thailand for 13 years and only once did a package not arrive, which could be due to the senders bad handwritting.

Whenever your out -and- about, if your careing a large amount of paper money, ALWAYS wear a money belt. With your hands constantly in front of you and your money also under your clothes, it's to hard for a pick pocket to try to lift that.

There are certain word letter sounds that are not in the Thai language, So a Thai person has to start learning proper English at a very young age, like 2 years old, to be able to master these sounds for proper word pronunciation.
