  1. You want to feel what it's like being inside a tall building when it collapses? That how you get your kicks, is it? Talk about living dangerously! You can count me out. The Don.
  2. Any condo/apartment owners/renters living in BKK, a word of advice - get out now! There is picture/video evidence of structural damage to tall buildings throughout Bangkok all over Thai social media. No high-rise building is safe from collapse there now, imo. Come to Japan. Our tall buildings are designed to be earthquake resistant - they sway when the quakes hit, they don't collapse like a clumsy deck of cards.. The Don.
  3. Over the years I have witnessed many Thai's wearing Swastika t-shirts and found them incredibly distasteful. It only goes to show that their ignorance is way beyond any reasonable doubt. The Don.
  4. Will you just stop being apologetic for the Thai's for one friggin second? Concrete is used in Thailand instead of steel, because it's cheaper - that is the reason the building fell down. The Don.
  5. With the declining attitudes of the waitresses I witnessed in Pattaya a few weeks ago then it's no wonder! Talk about moody. If you don't like your job, or you don't like working with farangs, then quit! I couldn't wait to get back to Kobe, where the service is impeccable and the food is top notch. The Don.
  6. I was once asked by a man in brown in the middle of Bangkok if he could see my passport. I started arguing with him in an entirely made up language, blending bits of Spanish, Italian and French together.. He couldn't wait to get rid of me. The Don.
  7. Think I'll stay in Japan for a bit then.. The Don.
  8. I personally don't agree with beating kids. But how they will enforce this is another matter entirely. If a tree falls in a forest and there is no-one around to see it, did it really fall? The Don.
  9. So a good old clip around the earhole is no longer allowed? How are they going to police/enforce this? As far as I am aware, social services in Thailand are practically non-existent! The Don.
  10. Sir, I have no idea what planet you are on, or what on earth it is that you are talking about. The Don.
  11. Didn't she used to work at Mcdonalds? The Don.
  12. I love discussing politics, especially Thai politics with drunk Thai males. Some of the most interesting and character building nights of my life have concluded in such a fashion! The Don.
  13. I once went to a dentist in Bangkok and they wanted to test my blood pressure. They said it was high and refused to treat me so I bought a blood pressure monitor and monitored myself, day and night over a 30 day period. The average reading was 120/80. It's a ridiculous requirement that can cause unnecessary issues as blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day - and is one of the main reasons I try to avoid all Thai medical facilities when on holiday if possible. Don.
  14. And why should they? Don.
  15. I agree. The left wingers have totally fallen off the political cliff. Don.
  16. Yes. And I also do love Thailand and will be back in September when the rains arrive. Don.
  17. So why are you here, then? Don.
  18. Pardon me Sir, but what have I said since joining this forum that is, as you say, 'poop'? Don.
  19. Hello, scorecard. It was just far too busy for me, too many people, the air wasn't fit to breathe, the locals seemed slightly dour and overworked, I witnessed a couple of fights which wasn't nice, lots of beggars etc. We simply don't have these issues in Japan. Service is excellent and I have never witnessed a physical altercation here. Don.
  20. I come to Thailand as a tourist regularly, and have done for almost 30 years. Don.
  21. Hello. You sound troubled and confused. I live in Kobe, though I do visit Osaka quite regularly as I have friends who live there. Don.
  22. Same here. I'm back in Japan now and will never go back to Thailand in High Season ever again. The things I saw there (I also went to Pattaya) really did shock me. Don.
  23. Yet more tomfoolery I see. After visiting Thailand for over 30 years as a tourist nothing has ever changed. I'm so happy to be back in clean, green, polite Japan. Don.
