My EVA business class flight from BKK to san francisco is in a few days. It cost me just 75K miles. Thats the cheapest redemption I know of for any airline on that route. Costs me about 750 USD equivalent in miles earned from credit card points. I would call that quite generous.

Who cares? When you self insure, you don't buy insurance, but instead set aside cash of at least the same amount of the insurance policy maximum coverage. Certainly a winning strategy if you can comfortably afford to set aside that much cash.

Thai is one of the airlines that during covid times cancelled flights, left people stranded, and then refused to issue refunds for the cancelled flights. I'm sure Thai would eventually rebook people, but who knows how many days later, and probably with no compensation.

It works fine in other many countries. In Singapore for example, they have an area with free wifi and giant QR codes you can scan that link you to the web page. It's common to see people who haven't completed the form doing it upon arrival. It's really no big deal. It's just the electronic version of the TM6, nothing more. Free wifi is already available airside in both bKK airports, probably all international airports in Thailand. I can't believe people are so concerned about it.

EVA is a good airline, unlike Thai. They will certainly provide hotels and rebook everyone.

It's the exact same thing in many, many countries-- You usually can't fill these out until 2-3 days before departure. Don't you ever go anywhere besides Thailand? These things became quite common around the world since covid times.

Trump absolutely hates everyone and everything outside the USA, and that includes all expats. MAGA fans who post here....yes, he hates you too even though you worship him. If Trump thinks about expats, he will certainly try to find a way to screw them over like he does everyone he hates. Luckily for us though, we don't seem to be on his radar for now, and it looks like he's got a lot of other stuff to worry about with a possible stock market crash on the way.

Almost as stupid on Trump's list is the "British Indian Ocean Territory". The only inhabited island there is the joint US & UK military base at Diego Garcia. Almost as stupid as that are some of the remote impoverished countries with tiny GDPs such as Tuvalu, Tokelau, or Kiribati. Just pure evil to penalize these places when it can bring no possible meaningful benefit to the US.

As far as I know, most can get an evisa. I'm American and got an evisa recently. There are some nationalities that are visa exempt now. Maybe thats what you are thinking of.

It's really easy to calculate the percentages Trump got by yourself. The trade deficit divided by total imports. No leftist fact checker needed. It would be the world's greatest coincidence if that number coincided with the actual tariff rate countries charge the US for every country.

I would bet the building would not have collapsed then. The fact that the one building that collapsed was under construction was probably not a coincidence. Since the collapse started at the top, it's likely the heavy crane at the top and it's tens of tons of weight was the domino that started the collapse.

I wouldn't "boycott" Tesla, but there is no way I would buy their products. I just wouldn't want the stigma of owning a Tesla, and risk the possible harassment of an angry mob attacking me. Particularly if the US economy becomes really bad, it could be dangerous to own a Tesla.

The third option is the Republican sheep in congress could grow a spine and assert their authority. Under the constitution, a president of any party does not have this much power. Congress could easily stop this madness if they choose. Which option is more likely, I don't know.

Trump does want negotiation. But he wants it so he can get special benefits and kickbacks for himself. You have to remember Trumps only goals are to screw over as many people he hates as possible, and to collect as much money for himself as possible. These tarrifs accomplish both goals.
