Welshman Heads Home After Medical Emergency in Thailand
Shades of Macron in this story. I wonder if Angela is also a tranny. Will the UK government deduct the gofundme amount from his benefits?

Yes, and how many legitimate transactions were blocked and what were the financial and human costs of that?

Thailand Weighs Benefits of De-listing Red-Whiskered Bulbul
Long ago I had a Thai gf who told me a story about her village. One day a flock of tiny birds showed up in the village. Her nephew shot a few and made khra pao (spelling?) with them and it was delicious. Soon everybody did the same, with a predictable outcome. Like she said "then, one day no more bird" with a nonchalant attitude. Nothing was learned, no sense of self restraint or lofty ideas about conservation. The people had plenty of food to eat, so it wasn't driven by hunger. Keep the birds on the list.

Thailand Aims for Top 10 in Global Tourism Revenue by 2026
The World Health Organisation might drive the final nails into the Thai and global tourism industries. I'd put my eggs into a few different baskets.

Thailand Remains a Top Choice for Russian Holidaymakers
Are you familiar with this essay? It's brief, and to the point. I suspect the author was someone other than who is given credit for it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discourse_on_Voluntary_Servitude

Thai - Cambodia clash escalates dramatically, atleast 12 dead.
Neither Cambodia nor Myanmar have anything worth invading for. Also, it's very difficult to keep what you take by force. The best scenario for keeping a territory requires it to have a well structured government. Replace the key figureheads and any in power who dissent with quislings and you've got control with minimal bloodshed.

Thailand Remains a Top Choice for Russian Holidaymakers
Nor did I call it that, just posed a question. What rich kids fight in any wars? They just get deferments or posted to the National Guard l, or a medical exemption (didn't some American have bone spurs?). The ones who do 'serve' do so far from enemy lines. The fact that men with resources are being drafted might indicate that Russia is more egalitarian than Western nations. There's a price to pay for saying 'no' to some government mandates, but at least that person can look at themself in the mirror and know that they stayed true to their own beliefs.

British Embassy Warns Pattaya Expats of Rising Risks
I'm surprised they didn't work 'climate change' into that story as it seems to be all over everything else the government disseminates.

Thailand Remains a Top Choice for Russian Holidaymakers
Many posters talk about draft dodging as though it's a bad thing. Did it ever cross anyone's mind that these young men don't want to murder innocent people? That they find the 'war' abhorrent and have nothing against people who look like them and speak the same language? This old mindset of equating not picking up a rifle to cowardice is outdated. It serves nobody except those that give the orders and reap the profits. What if everyone followed their conscience and refused, all at the same time?

Thailand Remains a Top Choice for Russian Holidaymakers
This is hilarious. What nationality comes to mind when one thinks of drunken brawls and sex tourism? What do Pattaya, Benidorm and Ibiza have in common? What nationality consistently causes problems in those resorts, and at football matches all over Europe? Even the propagandised won't answer 'Russians'. Russians don't touch Thai women. Russian women put out. It's Western tourists and Indians who are driven by thirst into Thailand's fleshpots.

Retirement Lottery: A Fresh Approach to Savings in Thailand
That's the point. The money that they gamble away, will, in theory, be returned to them with interest at age 60. It's turning a vice into a virtue. The people who buy the tickets were never going to save or invest in the stock market in the first place.

Retirement Lottery: A Fresh Approach to Savings in Thailand
Perhaps I'm naive, but this sounds great to me. Good for the gamblers, good for the investment fund and good to take pressure off the government when a massive number of Thais age out of work and are penniless (baht-less,?).

Thailand Ranks Among Top 3 Fun Destinations Globally
I love the way the Thais embrace public celebrations. It seems like there's something going on in Pattaya every second or third weekend. They put a lot of effort into setting up and taking down stages and seating, all for a 2 day festival.

Thailand Seeks Competitive US Tariff Rate Amid August Deadline
I don't think the Filipinos have it in them. There's something in the culture that holds them back from being competent at anything or rising above their current circumstances. They're hard workers but they rarely rise to the top.

Thai - Cambodia clash escalates dramatically, atleast 12 dead.
Such a waste. Lovely people on both sides of a line on a map being killed due to decisions made by people who will never feel the effects. Why is this being done? Probably a distraction. Get the Thais all whipped up and high on nationalism and perhaps they won't notice how dysfunctional the government really is.

Trying to put this in Pattaya news but cannot open from the drop-down list
Flying to Vietnam to play table tennis sounds a bit expensive. Why not try somewhere closer, like Laos?

Beer Bar Scam Soi Buakhou
Probably ones who were married to foreigners. Walking Street is full of them. They like to earn a quick buck while the husband/sponsor is at the pub with his mates and thinks she's waiting in the room, staring at the walls.

Aussie Murder Suspect Dies in Thailand, Evading Justice Forever
Having the old wound ripped open again. What if the guy allocuted and described the crime in gory detail? Additional pain would come from the plea bargain and limp wristed slap most criminals get.

Those of you who live on 40k a month
One would think, except Jomtien doesn't accept letters from an embassy or the combination of income plus savings. I went in for my first extension with the embassy letter and other paperwork only to be sent away. To experience that level of corruption and being told in the same breath to transfer over 800k baht into a Thai bank account was a bridge too far for this neophyte, so off to an agent I went. The last agent I spoke to told me that they use the leeway in the rules to drive more people into the offices of agents. I wonder if the new banking problems are a way of dealing with the corrupt Immigration Offices. I've got to say that my experience with agents has been excellent.

Beer Bar Scam Soi Buakhou
Find a married woman and meet discretely. According to an article I read on Asean Now, Thailand has the highest rates of infidelity in the world.

Youtubers looking for trouble for clicks on Pattaya's streets?
That woman has a nice rack and is in the prime of her life, of course men will look at her. The woman hams it up by saying she's scared, so he can fluff himself up as a protector. He should get himself a sturdy babushka if he's insecure.

Sansiri PTY Residence Sai 1 New Condo on Beach road crazy prices.....
Location, location, location. 25m2 with everything packed into it is horrible. I stayed at The Base 10 years ago and hated it. Got to be at least 26m2 to stay sane.

It saved the family a lot of grief and the taxpayers a great deal of expense. Isn't this the best possible outcome?
