Why did the Turks accept the Jews who fled the murderous anti-semitic Catholic forces. Jews prospered in Turkey for centuries. So did Christians. Yes, Invaders who were Muslims invaded Spain and set up a caliphate. So what? Do you think wars of conquest are a Muslim invention? Christians and Jews were still allowed to practice their faith. And what happened in Spain after the reconquest by Christians? Muslims and Jews who survived were expelled. It's estimated 300,000 Jews were murdered by Christian forces. Yes, there were some bad actors who were Muslims. But Muslims were far more tolerant overall of other religions than Christian Europe. Christian and Jewish communities thrived in Muslim ruled areas. When the Crusaders reconquered a piece of the mideast, things went quickly south for the Jews there who had lived under a comparatively benevolent Muslim rule. The Crusaders engaged in mass slaughter of the Jews. And what about the pogroms and oppression of the Jews in Christian Europe that led to the Jewish refugees fleeing to the New World. In the 19th century the Catholic church was still helping to persecute Jews.

What don't you understand about the fact that in the Mideast and in Spain Muslims and Christians lived in harmony for centuries. It was only in the 20th century that things started to go south. So tell me, is there a new version of the Quran that was published a 100 or so years ago that changed everything? And let's say for the sake of argument that there was nothing in the Jewish or Christian bibles endorsing violence against those who held other beliefs. How did that work out in practice?
