Nai Harn and Kata beaches haven't been super busy of late. Chalong circle is beginning to get busy from the Kata side. The throng hasn't hit the south part of the island yet, but we know it's coming and for residents it will be awful.

Aussie passenger’s shocking Bangkok to Moscow attack with a twist (video)
swerve replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From his name, flight destination, and I've been "away for 4 years" this guy sounds like a Russian to me. Probably dual citizenship. Maybe Vlad can send him to the Western front. -
Why does every country destroy everywhere that is beautiful? Phuket, for sure, is getting overrun. 100 flights per day into HKT, and they want to build a second airport.

Reentry - questions at airport?
swerve replied to E020's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
DrJack is correct. Non B Ed stays should get a letter from the school regarding a student leaving the country for a few weeks. The school should be able to fulfill this and know about the issue. Otherwise, you will likely have some problems with immigration upon your return. -
Not your last, sure. Get a wingman and go back. And when you're in Patts act like you did 25 years ago. Pattaya is still lotsa fun, if you have some cash.

Today I noticed that my residential electricity price per kwh has increased month to month since July. No idea why the PEA kept increasing it. September > August > July.

Bangkok hotel’s ‘loo-natic’ layout leaves guest in stitches
swerve replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
For a one-person stay, not a big deal. Better than walking down the hall to use a communal loo. -
SETV Vientiane Update
swerve replied to steve0101's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
About 10 years ago I was at that place and there were Russian girls (hookers) openly drinking big beers at the Vientiane Thai embassy while getting their visas. It was just a party to them. -
Immigration house check
swerve replied to James76's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just had a house visit from Phuket Immigration police. They were checking my location as I recently started an Non O extension based on retirement. Nice people. Asked some general questions like do I rent the house, do I ride a motorbike, what's my age, what do I like to do in my neighborhood etc. Took a picture or two of me. The visit lasted 20 minutes. They also chatted with and took pictures of other farang neighbours. -
How To Stay for Another Year: Need Your Advice!
swerve replied to Faranguz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You should contact a language school where you might locate and ask them about this specific question. There have been some crackdowns. I am enrolled in a language school in Phuket now and on a retirement visa. My school teacher said that no Ed visas are being given to Chinese citizens. -
How To Stay for Another Year: Need Your Advice!
swerve replied to Faranguz's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Ed visa is a good idea. The classes are quite fun. Costs will vary. Maybe up to 50K baht per year. The language skills you develop will be very useful for your time in Thailand. -
Climate change: July set to be world's warmest month on record
swerve replied to Social Media's topic in The Green Forum
Not too hot for me. Even living in a hot country like Thailand (Phuket) I never need to use air con. Phuket gets some rain, but it's good to fill the reservoirs and clean the dirty roads.
