  1. I did a border bounce to Malaysia 2 months ago. All of the other riders in the minivan were Russian. One of the Russians asked me some questions about how I was planning to stay in Thailand for more than 30 days. She mentioned she can't do a visa exempt extension. This incident got me thinking about border bounces and her situation.
  2. The OP didn't mention his passport nationality. I looked this up because I was curious about it. According to the website, 6 countries can do unlimited in/out border bounces. As you said earlier, different passports have different rules.
  3. I looked at the visa run website for thaivisaservice.com. It states this about (Cambodian) border bounces: Visa Rule Update 26th June 2023@04:15am: Russian, Malaysian, Indonesian, Laotian, Vietnamese and Singaporean can do this kind of OUT/IN unlimited times.
  4. An AN poster (Russian?) recently posted that Russians can do unlimited visa exempt land border bounces. Strangely, Russians can't do 30-day extensions on the visa exempt. A Russian couple told me this. Unlimited border bounce / no extensions?
  5. I hear Russians are currently able to an unlimited number of 30-day border bounces. If you have that passport, maybe you could do the same.
  6. IMO you are asking to get robbed. Unwise to carry 1M baht in cash around. Many people now are going mostly cashless.
  7. This is off-topic, but a good idea. I used to do the same regarding credit cards from Canada. Have the bank mail it to a relative (my bank mailing address) who would then send it to me in Thailand by courier. Cost me $100 CAD. If you phone the bank, they might send the card directly to you and cover the cost of the courier. I did this for my last credit card replacement. Bank paid and I saved $100.
  8. A lot of Russians dying on motorbikes in Thailand this year.
  9. Might have been part of his crypto scam/fraud.
  10. This border post is in the middle of a national park that straddles Thailand and Malaysia. I went to it for a visa exempt border bounce two weeks ago from Phuket using a local Phuket visa-run outfit. We arrived just before 1 pm and the border area was quiet. In and out in about 10 minutes. Very good experience.
  11. Phuket wants 21 days minimum for a visa exempt to non-o conversion. Not sure why they want this number.
  12. Hugh and Sheila's great adventure didn't work out so well. I hope they spend some time in a Thai jail.
  13. You can buy the antigen test kits at all pharmacies. You take the self-administered test only if you are sick and you think you might have a covid infection. Total costs will be low. 49 baht per kit is hardly expensive.
  14. You can tell the difference with a positive antigen test (49 baht).
  15. Visa exempt arrival (30 days stay plus extendable 30 days) is allowed at land borders. From the internet I find Visa exempt entry to Thailand is granted if you have a passport from one of these countries: Andorra Australia Austria Belgium Bahrain Brunei Canada Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Indonesia Ireland Israel Italy Japan Kuwait Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malaysia Maldives Mauritius Monaco The Netherlands New Zealand Norway Oman The Philippines Poland Portugal Qatar San Marino Saudi Arabia (&VoA) Singapore Slovak Slovenia Spain South Africa Sweden Switzerland Turkey Ukraine UAE UK USA
  16. Yes. I am assuming you are in Savanakhet and that you want to come back to Thailand now. Maybe you can come back to Thailand using visa exempt and sort out another embassy/consulate that may be more likely to grant you a SETV later.
  17. Can you return to Thailand now visa exempt and then sort out something later (after a 30 day extension)?
  18. I won't be getting any more vacs. My thoughts are that getting a covid infection should provide some lasting protection. Each covid infection for me had different symptoms, though they all had some fever. My first was mainly felt in my nose and throat. The second in my stomach. The third as muscle aches. The third is lasting longer than the first.
  19. Sure, more info. My post was intended to let people in Phuket know that covid is here and people are getting it. I have no idea what strain I contracted, just that it shows positive on an antigen test. I am treating this at home. Symptoms are uncomfortable but not close to a hospital visit. I don't normally wear a mask, and my best guess is I got it at the crowded Phuket Town Immigration office. I was there on Wed for several hours. My background is that I have had 3 covid vacs and I have contracted covid 3 times (5 months apart). Interestingly and unfortunately, each covid infection I get is worse than the previous one.
  20. Lots of covid spreading in Phuket. I got again this weekend.
  21. Neutral here. Jones is trash and has been stealing a living for years. Even my Man U friends make fun of Jones regularly.
  22. That python should be good eating.
  23. The Chinese like to put it on pizza.
  24. You may be able to use a "global money transfer" function within your TD bank. Done on the bank website. Sends money to your Thai bank account. I use this with another large Canadian bank, and it works well. Money arrives in 3 days.
  25. I wonder how much of the ill-gotten loot has not been found and never will be.
