  1. Phuket is on general downward slide due to overdevelopment. Fancy that? Some expats I know are thinking to move somewhere else. Some things have gotten better and some worse. The traffic is super bad. Beaches are mostly trashed. I drive a scooter and the roads require "Bangkok driving" (on sidewalks, running reds, on the wrong side for distances, etc.). The food situation has improved. There are so many restaurant options that it feels like a large western city. Supermarkets like Villa Market, Tops Central Floresta, etc. have most things any foreigner would want and the rest can be bought on-line. The airport has good connections. The health care/ dental services are very good.
  2. Finding a job in Thailand could also be an option. If you have a university degree, you will be allowed you to teach English (or other subjects) here and you might enjoy the work. I think you should be okay getting another Ed visa.
  3. Must be fake news. Nigerians wouldn't get mixed up with these things.
  4. Everton Spurs was an entertaining match. Back and forth action.
  5. The crackdown on motorcyclists not wearing helmets in Phuket is strictly to make money for the police. Go north to Phang Nga and almost no one wears a helmet there. Only touristy places and Bkk have any helmet enforcement. Thais just don't do helmets. I always wear one.
  6. She has a PhD in stupid.
  7. I made hummus today. It's cheap and easy to make if you have a food processor. Good for dips and sandwiches. I rehydrate dried beans rather than use canned chickpeas.
  8. Some places in Phuket soak pineapple in sugar water. I hate the taste when they do that. Does pineapple really need to be sweetened?
  9. This modern-day witch hunt will continue until there is no more money to procure. There are some benefits to being poor.
  10. I wonder if Epstein's dentist, barber, and car mechanic is on the list. To the chagrin of the prudes, not everyone associated with Epstein is involved with girls.
  11. The world's population is still rising at 80 million per year. The biggest thing a person can do to protect the environment is have fewer children. So many places are already ruined by overpopulation and consequent pollution. I wonder how many of Musk's kids have any respect for him.
  12. Bob the dozer.
  13. This is further proof that Thailand is a safe and caring country. Must send this news to China. Pixelating the eyes of the kid in the photo is a nice touch.
  14. How does she even have a driver's license?
  15. Farang bad driving behaviours piss me off too.
  16. I have a bank account with Krungthai bank. To open a second account I needed to show a driver's license and a long term passport stay. The banks have been told by the government to be more strict about new accounts (Chinese criminal interests have been using them). Having a Thai driver's license allows people to do more things easily.
  17. Border runs are cheap and will likely give you an additional 30 days stay. This is long enough to change your tourist entry/border run to an O visa and then to the yearly retirement stay. For the retirement stay you will need to have cash in a Thai bank and/or money incoming. You should visit an immigration office and get the proper info from them.
  18. Adrian, you might think about buying a bar. I hear that right now is a good time to buy. And you can have some fun with the girls too.
  19. Fly out of Thailand return to any nearby country and you'll get a stamp (30 days) upon your Thai return. Border runs will also get you 30 days. It would be helpful to know what country your passport is, how long you have been in Thailand, previous Thai visas, border runs etc.
  20. Why is he allowed a valid UK passport? Responsible countries should not be subjecting the rest of the world to their worst people.
  21. Is Singh Reserve any good? If so, I will look for it. I am mostly a Leo guy.
  22. I wonder how much he was getting paid for this 1.66 Kg baht delivery. Cocaine is getting popular in Thailand.
  23. It's a bank money spinner. Happens often in the third world. I once took Baht to the Philippines and got a good exchange in Manila. Then, when I got to Boracay the Baht exchange value decreased by over 50%. Once I got to Clark/Angeles the Baht exchange was back to normal.
  24. Sounds like a good money spinner for the Cambodians. I agree with the OP that it's a ripoff. Whether it's enough to care, is another matter.
