  1. The answer is no in most cases but you can decide for yourself.

The below answer taken from Aaron Stebner, the guy who created Microsoft .NET Framework Cleanup Tool.

When you install the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, it will also install the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and the .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 behind the scenes. You cannot use the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 unless you also have the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2 installed. Therefore, you will not be allowed to uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 or 3.0 SP2 if you have the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed. If you try to uninstall those versions of the .NET Framework, their uninstall processes will block and tell you that they are needed by another application
    on your system.

The .NET Framework 1.0 and .NET Framework 1.1 can be installed side-by-side with the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5. Most applications that were created for the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1 will automatically use the .NET Framework 2.0 instead if it is installed on the system. In most cases, that means you do not need to keep the .NET Framework 1.0 or 1.1 installed on your system if you already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed.

  2. Or does the G stand for "Generation"? and just mean that this is the third "Generation" of hardware (i.e. wires, atenas, servers all all the other equipment that make the internet possible).

And does it just mean if you use this "Third generation" of hardware, all of the internet and cell phones conented through this network will authomatically work faster?

If this is the case, do I have to do anything or when true become 3G will my interent just be faster without me having to do anything on my end???

3G is third generation of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) or in very simple terms it provides improved data performance for cell phone network and cell phones.  Its has nothing to do with internet network other than giving you higher connect speed via your 3G mobile phone.

  3. You really want to stay away from Bangkok Hospital because they are not cheap. You can check Saint Mary's or Por Pat hospital for cheaper private hospitals. You can also use Maharat Hospital which is government hosptial.

Remember most if not all doctors working in Korat private hospitals put several days a week in at Maharat Hospital. My wife's surgeon from St. Marys also works at Maharat and to save us money for follow up treatment referred wife to doctors office at Maharat.

  4. That is exactly the case here. He (the husband) has indicated that he might be willing to grant the divorce if he was paid. That is not going to happen. As we have spoken to lawyers already, it is clear that grounds for divorce are met, so when we take it to court it is just matter of time (and money, but I rather pay to lawyer than submit myself to extortion).

All requirements for divorce may have been met and you don't like the thought of extortion but paying him will be the quickest.

If you can do it for less than legal fees why not pay.

  5. There are drugs specifically for the nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy as follows, very effective but due to their higher cost, Thai government hospitals tend not to use them in favor of cheaper anti-emetics. A large pharmacy should have:

Ondansetron - locally made brand names: Dantron 8, Onsia, Zetron. The imported version is Zofran.

    It is usually quite effective.

Ginger also a good idea -- sip freshly made ginger tea

    Good luck

My wife has been undergoing chemo treatments and they prescribe Ondansetron, which she takes before each meal, and has no problems. Without the drug she experienced your same problem.

  6. I am lining up my Dynasat 10 foot dish to point to Intelsat 10 at 68.5 E. I used this site to work out the elevation from my garden and it is 49.7.

    http://www.dishpointer.com/

Fair enough. As the dish used to be motorised and set up to cover that part of the sky, I thought it would be good fun and fairly easy to manually locate the satellite. Well my wife and I are worn out pushing this quite heavy dish up and down and trying to get a 'lock'.

So I decided today to make it easier and buy a 'satellite finder'. We went to the 2 satellite shops on the Sukhumvit and Dcom, but no luck. Does anyone know where I could get one of these in Pattaya.

    Thanks for your help

I have one of the these: http://www.promaxprolink.com/tvgenerators/prodig5.htm

..and for a couple beers would make a day trip from Bangkok to Pattaya to help out. I make the trip a couple times a month so not a problem. If need please PM me and I will bring.

  7. Everyone's lifestyle is different but I would budget a minimum of 200k baht for the three months.

Bring one or two major credit cards and your bank ATM card for accessing you funds.

As others have suggested make sure you have medical insurance should you become injured or ill. You can purchase such a policy upon arrival in Thailand.

  8. I'm not the OP, but I just now checked 'processes.' Huge list, maybe 50. Can I clean it up?

Yes you can clean it up but as another poster said you must be careful.

If your running Windows start by doing the following:

    1. Select your Start button then Run and type "msconfig" (no quotes) and enter.

    2. System Configuration Utility window will appear.

    3. Next select startup tab and you will see a list of programs that are started.

You can uncheck the ones you don't want started but as mentioned be careful

and do some research. The Startup Item and Command column should give you

a clue but you might need to Google the last part of Command column for info on

    what it does (example: nerocheck.exe).

    4. The next tab you select would be Services. Most of these but not all are windows processes

but some items that get run at startup can be found here.

  9. OP you might want to check the total number of processes you have running because that is the most common cause of slow downs. Hold down Ctrl and Alt keys and hit Del key and this will bring up Windows Task Manager. Select processes tab and see how many processes you have running.

With your amount of RAM you want to minimize the number of processes you have running.

  10. I live in the sticks and cannot get wired phone line so use GPRS/EDGE on my mobile phone. You connect PC to phone by Bluetooth or USB cable. Speed will vary throughout the day dependent on system loading but I usually have no problems listening to streamed radio from the states. If I have large file to download I usually do in the morning and get speeds around 24KB/sec.

I have a monthly internet package from AIS that cost 350 baht for 100 hours per month.

  11. Hi,

I am interested to purchase an apartment in Bangkok and heard that I can not use the money that I have here at my personal bank account, but I need it to be transferred from abroad into my account.

    Is this true?

Most of the money I have (which is much more than what the apartment costs) was transferred from abroad to my personal bank account, but in small sums every time ($10k - $15k per time), would that be sufficient? or do I need to transfer the whole amount in 1-transfer? Is there anything else important that I should know?

    TIA for any help!

Best thing to do is get copies of all transfers from branch where account located. Ask local branch where you get FETF issued.

I had similar situation with Bangkok Bank and they said no problem. Branch called ahead to make sure multiple transfers were not problem and then gave me bank address and office name to have FETF issued. I never followed through because condo deal fell through.
